  1. What he said. Welcome to the joys of TN hunting/fishing licenses. The easiest (and most expensive) solution is to get the Sportsmans license. But if you don't want to spend that much, the small game / fishing combo is the best route for now. From there you can add the big game gun, muzzleloader, archery, water fowl, trout, WMA, ....
  2. I try the flip it in the air thing. Sometimes I catch it, sometimes not. When I miss, I pick it up.
  3. I read another article that said Jared's in solitary for his own safety.  He gets out of his cell 1 hr/day and during that time they screwed up with the gates between areas that allowed the other inmate a shot at him.  The inmate that beat him up had to be pulled off him and said afterward that whatever they do to punish me doesn't matter, it was worth it, and there's 100 other guys itching for the chance to do the same thing.    Apparently they transferred Jared to another prison, again for his own safety, and didn't publish where he was for security reasons, which apparently is a violation of a freedom of information act.
  4. Seems to be luck of the draw.  If you get a good one, it'll be fine long after the kid outgrows it.  If you get a bad one....   Stuff I've read suggests their quality is much better than it used to be, so I'd opt for a new one over one several years old unless you know the seller and trust that it was trouble free.
  5. As far as weapons go, form follows function.  If it works beautifully, it's beautiful.    During the original design of the F-117, they called it the "Hopeless Diamond" because the idea of making that shape fly was hopeless.  When the aerodynamicist saw how well the stealth technology worked, he said "I'll make it fly."
  6. AK or AR pistol.
  7. Indeed. They have a history of excellent cover songs.
  8. "Too shaken to speak". Smart man.
  9. Amen to that. I make a point to empty my pockets when I get on the bike. I was screwing around in the yard, fell over, and got a nasty bruise from a tube of Chapstick I forgot was in my pocket.
  10. Never heard of Alpha Gal... interesting.  And kinda frightening.
  11. See what you can shoot effectively while wearing your riding gloves.
  12.     The same can be said for virtually every "mid size" vehicle with a 3rd row seat.  3rd row seats in anything smaller than a suburban or full size van are so small as to be useless for anyone over age 10.
  13. There's a pretty good deal on an NPAP in the classifieds.
  14. Yes, there's a "stop sale" in force for those models now. They're working on a software update that will have to be verified, and reverified, and re-reverified before it's ready for use. Then they'll likely issue notice to all registered owners of a mandatory recall, which will piss off all the people who live in an area where emissions testing isn't required (which is probably the majority).
  15.     Good luck.  I'm watching the results of a very controlling father who's daughters have gone off to college unfold right now.  It's been entertaining from the cheap seats.  Isn't there a song about holding on too tight and watching it slip through your fingers?             Indeed.    Seems to me that the type of guy/kid who would date a girl with a dad like that, probably isn't really the type of guy/kid you'd really like dating your daughter.
  16.     The VW software people programmed the car to recognize the presence of an engine analyzer.  When the analyzer is installed, the computer uses different fuel/ignition map and engages the emissions systems.  When the analyzer is removed, the computer defaults back to a different map which uses less fuel, disengages emissions systems, and results in higher NOx and SOx emissions than are allowed by the regs.  They cheated and got caught.    Does that really mean anything to the end consumer?  Only if you live in a place that requires emissions testing.
  17.     To me, the presence of the gun and particularly his finger on the trigger removes all silliness and makes it pure intimidation.           Your co-worker is lucky that 22 yr old doesn't understand the concept of assault, though its clear he doesn't understand the concept of statutory rape either.
  18. I have a sister so I have some idea, but it's been a while since we were teenagers. It's mostly the intimidation thing I don't get. Why not be silly or ridiculous instead of angry and threatening?
  19. At least 2... http://www.cbsnews.com/news/tarra-and-bella-elephant-loses-mans-best-friend/ My kids have this book... http://www.amazon.com/Tarra-Bella-Elephant-Became-Friends/dp/0147510635
  20. Maybe it's because I have boys, but I just don't get all the teenage daughter shaming and intimidation stuff.
  21. VW Jetta or Passat wagon diesel. 50 mpg out of either.
  22. Sportsmans Guide, AIM Surplus, Midway USA, SG Ammo, AmmoToGo, Lucky Gunner, ....
  23. Got this the other day and thought it was applicable here.  Gives some options I hadn't thought of.   http://www.luckygunner.com/lounge/whats-wrong-grip/
