Welcome! ORSA, Windrock, Gatlinburg, Chilhowee, and John Sevier are the outdoor range/clubs I know of.

You must have looked the produce section over pretty well to find a banana that.straight. Just curious, how old are they? -
Gonna take a while to dry out enough for mountain biking here. 3-4" of rain plus all the snow melt and the creeks already look full. I'll be for all the piles of dirty snow to be gone, looks too much like Michigan for my taste.

There's been several amateur radio threads .....

Illegal to transmit without a license. Listening is fine. If society collapses, I doubt the FCC will be taking names.

I've only been there once, many years ago. Range officers were very over-bearing. I haven't heard anything about it in a long time.

Wagons FTW! Those ice dams aren't a big deal, just don't be under them when they break loose. If you had 3 ft of snow, it'd be different. Our dog usually loves the snow, he'll zoom around and get covered in it. He doesn't like this frozen crust at all, it think it hurts his feet.

How do you tell a friend he's being a Sh$thead?

Good friends are compelled to hold each other up and call each other out as the needs arise. It may take some thought, but you can be direct without being blunt. Only you your friend's personality and your relationship, and how best to approach it. -
This. The bad actors will take whatever excuse they need to create some mayhem. They also know which metro areas will be the easiest to make a spectacle in. As with all the other media, they're out to generate clicks and sensationalism. That said, a grocery run before the election wouldn't be a bad idea.

My wife and kids had to escape for a while this afternoon. I stayed home because I've come down with a bug of some sort. Main roads seem to be fine but secondary roads are bad in all the places you'd expect. I'd hoped the warmer temps today would melt things off a bit, but I can't tell any difference. It's drizzling at little at the moment. Given the continued cold, it's gonna be mid next week before this is gone.

8" in Knoxville, 10" in Lenoir City and the street in front of my house has dried in the sun today in Maryville. Figure that one out. I finally chipped my way through the 3" of ice on my car. I'm hoping the sun melts most of it today. Still plenty cold. Forecast was for 30 today but my thermometer says 24 and it's not going to get any warmer. I think we're all getting a little stir crazy being cooped up in the house. The plan is to go to work tomorrow, but that was the plan for today too. And I have to pass through either Knoxville or Lenoir city to get there.

We've got a couple inches of snow with a nice crust of ice covering everything. Our dog gets the zoomies when it snows. He runs and runs and runs.... He'll pause long enough to eat a few mouthfuls of snow and then run some more. I saw a couple brave souls drive by this morning, just creeping along. I suspect the tow truck and body shop owners will have a nice summer vacation this year.
-
Similar here. The Knoxville and Loudon folks got snow, here in Maryville we got icy slush. Temp stayed about 33 degrees all day. It's snowed a little in the last couple hours so we'll have an inch of snow on top all the ice that's gonna form overnight. The roads will be ugly tomorrow.
-
Atta boy. It's raining and a wet miserable mess here. I'm very disappointed. It's gonna be an icy disaster tomorrow.
-
Less than an inch here in murvul. Not sticking to the roads either. Its supposed to keep snowing through the day but there's not much happening now. I'll be amazed if we get near the 4-6" they said. I may take a snow day tomorrow or WFH some. Not certain my car will start if it hits the -4 they're predicting.
-
I still have one. It's not hooked up to anything, but it worked fine last I used it. Picture quality was shockingly bad. It's amazing what we've gotten accustomed to. And the tapes aren't unlabeled. However, "Once upon a time in America" won't be what they expect....

I went in search of a sled this afternoon and came up empty. I thought about it a few days ago but didn't get one. The boys will have be satisfied with cardboard.

This is what I do with every new gun I get to help break it in. Sit on the couch and cycle the slide a couple hundred times.
-
I think this is mostly what Mas was getting at. The "show clear" in pistol shooting generally involves dropping the slide on an empty chamber. The issue is do you ride the slide home or just pop the release and let it slam? Probably not a big issue for serious competitors with race guns as they get lots maintenance and parts replaced on a schedule. If that habit carries over to defensive work and you carry a 1911 variant, then that's something you might want to think about.

Agreed. Coaches and players have largely become mercenaries. In a world of what appears to be limitless money, a man's word is worth very little. Sad commentary on the state of our world.
-
I don't do that as a matter of routine for the reasons he gives. But I don't worry about it if the slide drops on an empty chamber every now and then.

Kiffin is the only guy with an ego big enough to want to follow Saban. I suspect Saban named his successor and all this is just for show.
