  1. My college buddy Mike designed most of the front end. I'll pass along the complement.
  2. My parents in Chattanooga have seen a few.
  3. Buddy at work calls it "salve". It gets used extensively as you might guess. My youngest was headed in that direction... he mixes mayo and ketchup for fries. A few days ago he put a ridiculous amount of mayo on his burger. I called him out on it and he just grinned. An hour later he was whining about being hungry. I asked how that could be since he'd just eaten a big burger. He said he didn't eat it, too much mayo.
  4. Wheels through Time is worth the trip. Traffic shouldn't be horrible mid-week provided you miss the usual busy times.
  5. I think we're all guilty of occasionally painting whatever group with a similar brush. Stereotypes do exist for a reason, but that doesn't mean those who typify a stereotype represent the majority of that group, nor do we have to be beholden to them. Evaluating people individually is the right thing to do, but it takes more time than most people are willing to invest.
  6. Yep. I still have an ETR shirt.
  7. Saw this on ADV..... small world.
  8. Indeed.
  9. Gangs, drugs, and assaults are symptoms. They won't go away until we understand the problem(s). Understanding won't be easy and fixing will be even harder. Coming to the table unwilling to compromise accomplishes nothing.
  10. Yes. We must have effective debate on differing ideas. The end goals are likely very similar, it the path to get there that's different. No one has an air tight position, there are flaws or pitfalls in any path. Debating with a mirror, preaching to the choir, etc. does not build consensus. If one group thinks the others are incompetent, there will be no resolution.
  11. Happy Easter folks! He is risen!
  12. Make sure you know the different between a common snapping turtle and an alligator snapping turtle. Alligator snappers are considered rare in TN.
  13. Yep. We had to get a new couch about a year ago. Furniture stores seem to do most of their business with these high rent interior design groups who decorate the McMansions popping up everywhere. I'm sure those designers are getting a big price cut based on the volume they move.
  14. My house was tested when I bought and I recall the result was very low, almost immeasurable.
  15. Didn't know automatic vents were a thing. Interesting.
  16. I know how to start one with damp stuff, but its not easy.
  17. Security doesn't have to mean armed guards. Most of these shooting have started with the perp just walking in. No perimeter, no controlled entry, no fancy scanners, nothing but doors that should have been locked. I understand that schools shouldn't look like prisons, but most newer schools have very similar architecture. Agreed. Both my kids had great interaction with the SRO's in their elementary school. My youngest walked away wanting to be a cop. The problem is the perception within the department. The SRO job was viewed negatively by other cops. You're not considered a "real cop" when you're policing 9 yr olds all day. Someone had to be assigned, no one would volunteer. Which is why they change person regularly.
  18. Yeah, I think muskrat too.
  19. Yesterday I learned one of my aunts used to be neighbors with the shooter's family. Her kids (my cousins) used play with their kids. They haven't spoken in many years but she thought highly of them. It's been a tough week.
  20. We do have a better answer, but its not quick, easy, or clean. It means dealing with messy, ugly, difficult people, one at a time. It means compromise. There is no magic pill for this. It can't be solved behind a keyboard. Society's moral compass has been spinning for decades. There will be no resolution until we find a direction and work toward it together.
  21. Most every celebrity or wealthy business person. The weird doesn't come out until they no longer feel compelled to conform.
  22. Everything except the rifle can be done most anywhere. With the rifle will be your problem. Best I can think of is a WMA with a valid hunting license during hunting season.
  23. Orion - don't know. It was scored by computer and it had issues. They had to re-score all the air rifle targets because there we so many protests/errors. Another parent tried to explain to me how the scoring works (I'm familiar with computer vision based inspection systems) and there were several parts that don't make sense to me. Both my boys started with BB, inexpensive way to see if they like it. My older one will have to do air rifle if he continues next year. I don't know any of the results. The competition was an hour behind schedule and with a 3.5hr drive home, I wasn't going to sit around even longer while they figured out the scores. I think breath control and being really smooth on the trigger are his biggest areas for improvement. He hit the black pretty easily when he did that well. Need to make the bad shots less bad. Focus, concentration, patience, perseverance, .... all the things I want them to learn.
