Prayers for a quick recovery. Dad had emergency triple bypass about 15 years ago. The surgery went fine and he's been better since. A comment he made a few months after surgery stuck with me... He said, "I never knew I felt that bad, I thought I was just getting old."

The irony is they don't actually bring in much money for the municipalities. The cameras are leased and the camera company pockets most of the revenue. The little extra money the city gets is offset by the increased administration and court costs because of all the extra pissed off people.

I have to do something very nice for this lady. Got any ideas?

I wish I'd done more of that with my grandmother. -
Good luck with your plan. I used the MyFitnessPal app for a while a couple years ago and it helped me get a better handle on my diet. I lost some weight and I'm in a lot better shape now. I'd still like to drop another 12-15 lbs but it would appear I've hit the proverbial wall. Something major has to change for me to lose any further weight and I'm currently not motivated enough to knock down that wall.

I used to work in the auto industry. They're driven off the end of the production line and typically through some sort of test loop, so yes, all fluids should be present. There's only a few gallons of gas in the tank. The ECU/PCM is in a "delivery mode" that locks out virtually everything except what's necessary to drive it. Cars that are imported are driven on/off the ships.

As long as the location isn't posted you're fine legally. If you'll be wearing a tux, it may or may not have an appropriate belt. As for not telling the wife... I can imagine any sort of "scene" on her baby boy's wedding day wouldn't go over real well.

Yep, free extended warranty sounds about right. Or at least a couple years free service.

Nice bike. Just remember that everyone is trying to kill you.

Funny you mention the PA. It was plenty loud at stage center but we couldn't hear it at all on the north end of the ramp where we sat.

If you're not there regularly, it's going to be difficult to train the dog to stay away. If you think it might accomplish anything, talk to the neighbor. Get some pepper spray and blast it next time it's around. Else call animal control. Dogs are not permitted to "run at large" by state law.

I like the handwritten note and maybe some flowers. Does she have grandkids? Do you have little kids? We have the sweetest little old lady for a neighbor. She lives in a converted detached garage next to her daughter's house. She loves my kids. I send them over to visit Ms. Edith pretty regularly. She beams when talking about them (and boy can she talk.... :D ), fawns all over them, and makes them cookies and such regularly. Even though her daughter lives 100ft away, she gets lonely being by herself. Her daughter is very nice and takes good care of her, but the daughter's husband was recently confined to a wheelchair, so she's got that to deal with too. I do little stuff around the house for her... I fixed a lamp, hung a picture... My point is, sometimes all they want is a little company. 5 minutes of conversation can make their day. -
I agree, never, ever try to catch a dropped gun. I have heard of one instance where a pistol went off by itself. It was a 1911 with a "trigger job". It was sitting on a bookcase cocked and thought to be locked, and no one was in the room. The owner heard the boom and when he went to investigate he found the pistol in the floor with the safety off and a hole in the bookcase and adjacent wall. He took it to a gunsmith and was shown the buggered trigger. Basically angles were wrong which allowed something in the mechanism to creep. I'm not familiar enough with 1911 triggers to explain exactly what. Apparently at some point he bumped the safety and disengaged it before sitting it on the bookcase. They replaced nearly everything in it and it was fine after that.

We went Sunday and had a good time. First airshow for the kiddos. The F-16 turnin' and burnin' scared my little one a bit, but I really enjoyed the show. I heard stories that traffic/parking was a trainwreck on Saturday with people sitting in traffic for hours before giving up and going home. We didn't have any problems Sunday, got there about 10:30 and drove right in. I wish there had been more warbirds there, I miss the show with the bombing runs and the pyro. I can't remember the last time I saw a Corsair fly, love that plane. I took a bunch of pics, I'll try to sort through them and put up a few in the next few days.

Effect of ammo on reliability in 9mm semi-autos
peejman replied to tightshot's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Depends on the type of malfunction. The only ammo related malfunctions I've ever experienced were with some very old and somewhat corroded Lake City .45 in a very dirty gun. Other stuff cycled fine but got several failure to return to battery with the LC. I also had fail to fire with some S&B 9mm. Normal primer strike, just didn't go off the first or 2nd time. -
Gotta keep a close eye on those things, they're quick...

30th Anniversary of FBI Miami Shootout
peejman replied to Cruel Hand Luke's topic in Training Discussions
The North Hollywood thing was in 1997? 19 years ago? :dropjaw: I would've guessed 10 at the most. Crap I'm old. -
I agree on the skill level. However, last year most of the early races were boring (this year isn't much different so far). The same 4 bikes spend the majority of the race just riding around. The TV coverage doesn't show the action in the back of the pack. It got more interesting toward the end of the season. Seen this? It's friggin' awesome. After watching it, I have a little more respect for the smurf. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tEMmKyR11yM

30th Anniversary of FBI Miami Shootout
peejman replied to Cruel Hand Luke's topic in Training Discussions
.38 revolvers are no match for high powered, magazine fed rifles. Fire fights happen really fast, and it takes a while for a person to bleed out. -
What they said, not a bad afternoon project. Rip the whole thing off and replace it all. Don't think you'd need more than a circular saw and a screw gun. Good excuse to buy one of each if you don't already have them. Dig out under the landing, couple inches of gravel, block, and then water barrier (plastic sheet, tyvex, ...) between the blocks and the stringers. Use the pre-cut stringers, they're way easier even if you have to move the landing a bit, and attach them at deck level with joist hangers, not down below like they are now. To prevent the above coating disaster, wait for the wood to dry thoroughly (like a year) before putting any sort of stain or coating on it.

What kind of smoker?

His tee shot was just a very inopportune oops. He missed it in the one place you can't miss it. I think the 2nd ball in the water was just brain overload resulting from the tee shot. Consolidating his feces and continuing on for remaining holes to finish 2nd borders on miraculous, given the situation. He may blow it off publicly like he's moved past it quickly, but I guarantee it'll burn his ass for a long time to come.

Review of East TN Patriot Sheath for Grand Torino Knife
peejman replied to I am Groot!'s topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
Indeed. I slipped on some ice and landed on my pistol a number of years ago. It hurt. A lot.
