  1. $58? The link says $129 now.
  2. We did some canning when I was a kid. I remember it being terribly hot drudgery. Now we recently got a hand-me-down canner and started doing it ourselves. While it was a good bit of work and took most of a day, the results were satisfying.
  3. Hey now.... Those are geeks, not nerds. If you're going to stereotype, at least use the correct one.
  4. Hoppes would work fine, though a vat of it large enough to immerse the whole gun would be pricey. Since it's all stainless, most any solvent should work fine. I'd try hot, soapy water and an old toothbrush and see how far that got me before I started with more aggressive chemicals.
  5. No need to take the whole thing apart unless it's broken. Field strip it, remove the grips, and soak the whole thing in solvent. Blow it clean/dry with compressed air, lube, and reassemble.
  6. Resolved in a year? It'll be a year before its back in court so they can delay it again. The only thing that'll force it is some knucklehead getting charged.
  7. Hard to go wrong. The nearest place is http://www.tacsog.com. My wife took the class there.
  8. Rage, yeah because clearly that'll fix the problems. That's the first thing that comes to mind when I think about how best to address all the angst and turmoil in society. The world really needs a little more rage these days. Rage. Yep, that'll fix it.
  9. A friend has a Stihl with a 36" bar for just such an occasion. If you supply beer, it comes with an operator.
  10. http://m.humanesociety.org/animals/dogs/tips/de-skunking_dog.html Plan to iterate the clean/shampoo cycle at least 3 times.
  11. Likely confused with campus carry.
  12. Yep, most of mine are (were) at least 5' tall and so thick I had to dig through them to get ripe fruit that's buried in the middle. They've done really well.
  13. I've got a 35 year old Homelite hand-me-down that runs like a top. It runs on 35:1 gas, smokes, and is loud as hell, but it runs great. I think the newer power equipment designed to run on 50:1 or leaner ratios have such small passages that it makes them prone to getting gummed up regardless of how often they're used. That said, my bow saw and loppers get a lot more use for simple pruning. Add a pole saw for tall stuff and that's really all you need.
  14. I was using metal cages. They'd have fallen over weeks ago without them.
  15. I forgot to mention that this last round of storms blew most of my tomatoes over. The plants seem ok so far, but picking fruit is a lot more difficult now.
  16. Yes. Twice. Stupid dog.
  17. That's interesting. I'd always assumed Pandora and similar services were under the same "pay per spin" type agreements as traditional radio stations. What about satellite radio (XM)?
  18. Mark, go ahead with the fall seeds. Seems weird to start them in the heat of summer, but that's what needs to happen. In addition to the salsa we canned, we also made 3-4 cool whip dishes full that we'll freeze. I prepped another 4 qts of maters for freezing because I'm out of jars at the moment. I do the canning on the side burner of my gas grill. Keeps the heat out of the house and the mess should something go wrong.
  19. The PSA kit or complete upper is just as good as the M&P Sport.
  20. I don't see parts getting cheaper or more available than they are now.
  21. I think so. That underfolder in the classifieds here is sweet.
  22. That kit does not go through an FFL as there's no lower receiver. You'll need to get one somewhere, and that piece only goes through an FFL. With a complete upper, building one is like Legos. The first one will take a couple hours because you'll have to do a couple things 3 times to get them right. After that... 30 mins or so. Work inside a clear plastic bag when installing the springs and detents. It'll catch them when they get away instead of launching them into the far reaches of the Galaxy. Use tape to protect adjacent surfaces when installing pins. Else you'll have an idiot mark or two when you're done.
  23. That doesn't appear to be a hunting rifle that you'd be carrying for miles through the bush, so who cares how much it weighs? A balanced rifle will feel lighter than an unbalanced one.
  24. What they said. Add some weight to the stock to balance it.
