  1. Yes, coyotes are pushing foxes out as they compete for the same habitat and food sources. While coyotes are voracious rodent eaters, I'd much prefer foxes as they rarely attack pets or livestock and don't howl at night.
  2. Metal horns....
  3. I've heard those work too. Given the option, I'd prefer they died prior to being able to bite me (says the walking mosquito magnet).
  4. Pitch a mosquito dunk over the fence into the pool. They work. http://m.homedepot.com/p/Summit-12-in-Mosquito-Dunks-6-Pack-110-12/100334779
  5. Exactly. People think critters like foxes, snakes, hawks, owls, are a problem because they've never been overrun with rodents. A single pair of rats can become more than 1000 rats in a year.
  6. My solution would be to keep on walking.
  7. I was incorrect as to the location. They broke ground last week, and its directly across the street. Don't know if they'll do counter sales, but that could be interesting.
  8. A Bluetooth radio / mood light / salt shaker? Wow.
  9. Crows are indeed some of the smartest birds. Black vultures are quite smart as well. A dead crow on the ground won't deter a crow. You might try stringing up some caution tape between posts around/through the garden.
  10. Wow. Poor duck.
  11. Planted ours a couple weeks ago. Just the usual stuff, nothing elaborate this year. Picked our first harvest today which is a single jalapeño. We've got a few other varieties of hot peppers, but they're not doing well. I assume all the rain is the culprit. Everything else looks good so far.
  12. Probably using the gutter as a hard surface against which to open seeds or nuts. Same at my house as well, though it's not always woodpeckers. Some other seed eating birds will do the same thing. As mentioned, CD's, pie pans, strips of foil... anything reflective will help keep them away. Our resident Cooper's hawk snacks at our feeders pretty regularly too. It's cool to see. One thing you might do to help with the window impacts is to move the feeders a bit. The hawks will dive from a high point toward the feeders. They're also very prone to target fixation and simply will not see what's beyond their prey. If your windows are in line with the feeders and tall trees or other high points, they will come crashing in. Moving the feeders even a few feet could help that considerably.
  13. They see their reflection. Fix that and they'll go away.
  14. You're welcome.
  15. Nice! Can you swim in it?
  16. Never heard this song?
  17. Exactly. It's called an umbrella policy. They're fairly inexpensive and cover lots more than what these specific policies do.
  18. Have her try it like this... https://www.corneredcat.com/article/running-the-gun/rack-the-slide/ It's not a pull, its a whack. Like smacking a mosquito.
  19. Nonsense. By all means, incriminate...
  20. What they said... I love old milsurps, much more than my budget allows unfortunately.
  21. No, they aren't donor car kits. It's a real, brand new car made from reproduction or original tooling from the stampings on up.
  22. Once you pick a contractor, watch them like a hawk. Go to the site every day to go over plans, and inspect the work. Don't hesitate to make them fix or redo things you don't like, it's much faster/easier/less expensive to address it now than later. Remind them that you are both the customer and the boss if necessary.
