  1. Have one of the guys here make you one... @gjohnsoniv @East_TN_Patriot @Ron Padilla
  2. Now I'm gonna start a Heath Shuler rumor.
  3. Thanks, sounds like a good time!
  4. I'm not sure about win10, but it sounds like the aspect ratio changed from 16:9 to 4:3 or something like that. You may be able to right click on the desktop and find something like display settings where you can configure that. If all else fails, ask the help and it'll probably show you how to fix it.
  5. I'd like to hear about it.
  6. She'll keep you busy. Terriers and cattle dogs are smart and high energy. They can be destructive if they get bored. Being treat motivated should help make it easier to train her.
  7. No. My post above was incorrect. That building was just the company across the street adding another building. Honestly, I'm still not 100% sure exactly where the property is they bought. If it's where I think it is, there's been zero activity. No surveyors, no signs, nothing. Though there is a fairly significant road building project nearby, so I suppose it's possible they're waiting on that.
  8. I'm grateful my kids get to grow up with both grandfathers and their great-grandfather. I never knew either of my grandfathers, but my wife's granddad is still going strong, he'll be 91 in 3 weeks. Since I never knew my dad's dad (and neither did any of my cousins), I've started a little project to learn more about him by asking Dad and all his siblings to send me stories about him. I intend to compile them into a document and share with the family. The idea for that was born at a family reunion. One of my uncles had lots of old family photos digitized from slide film and made collages for the reunion. I had in my head that my grandfather was this stern disciplinarian type, but the photos illustrated a very jovial person. That contradiction made me realize that I had no idea who he really was, so I asked for stories. I've gotten several and they've been great to read.
  9. Saw in the church bulletin Sunday that the Blount Co Sheriffs office is holding free active shooter classes for church security folks.
  10. I used to shoot at this place when I lived near Kingsport years ago. They have a 300 yd rifle range. At that time it wasn't exactly pretty, but it was functional. It was a very shotgun-centric club. https://m.facebook.com/WildernessRoadShootingAndConservationClub/
  11. Yes. Our dog was on several arthritis/pain meds, and just like people meds, they get expensive. We were spending better than $150/mo on pills for the dog over the last couple years. Shots and laser therapy were offered at even higher cost. This dog will keep you busy. Border collies aren't couch potatoes, they need a job to do.
  12. I'm gonna start a Rick Pitino rumor....
  13. If you like the idea of walking the dog fairly regularly, you might look at a retired greyhound. They make good couch potatoes as long as they get out occasionally.
  14. I'm thankful for a happy and healthy family. I'm thankful to be gainfully employed at a job I only hate occasionally that affords a comfortable life for my family. I'm thankful to live in a country that, despite its many problems, gives me the opportunity to be thankful for all the above.
  15. I work with a bunch of talented machinists, all of whom would think this is a really cool project. If you've got questions along the way, post up.
  16. Any way to find out what he drinks now?
  17. Amazon has several of the Gerber tools and knives on sale at the moment.
  18. I'm guessing they didn't think of that.
  19. Wear it to the game on Saturday, hunting on Sunday, and picking up trash on Monday. I don't see why they would spare him the indignity at this point. The season's done, may as well let him go down with the ship.
  20. Sight it in however you expect to shoot. If you're shooting from a blind or stand where you can use bags or a rest, then sight in that way.
  21. My sister and brother in law moved to the Monroe area a few years ago. They seem to like it pretty well.
  22. Most people wouldn't notice if you were on fire. Half of those who would notice, wouldn't do anything about it. When I see people printing, or even open carrying, I like to watch the other people around them. It's rare to see anyone react at all, much less negatively. But I'm still kinda anal about being concealed.
  23. Depends a bit on where/how it's cracked. Generally you just glue it back together. I like Titebond wood glue.
  24. My parents went through it with Mom's mom. It wasn't fun. Among other things, I have vivid memories of Mom sitting my sister and I down after the funeral and telling us with tears in her eyes to never, EVER, let her be the burden on us that her mom was on her.
  25. My neighbor has similar issues with her mother, though her dementia is quite mild. They had a nursing/eldercare service come sit with her occasionally, but after another neighbor found her wandering around the subdivision with no idea who or where she was, they've moved her to an assisted care facility. Sounds like you might be getting to that point. Caring for someone with advanced dementia 24/7 is rough. I'll ask who the sitter service was through.
