  1. I suspect having a shop make one will be cost prohibitive. I'd guess an aluminum one that won't weigh 400lbs will be $2000 or so. And there might be a reason why there's no aftermarket parts available. I'm guessing that mounting one will require body modifications.
  2. Yep. Call it in.
  3. I was thinking more of the impending civil suit, but best of my knowledge it's useable for legal fees. I don't know that it distinguishes between civil and criminal. I'd hope that I'm not so stupid as to violate federal weapons laws.
  4. Which is why I have an umbrella liability insurance policy.
  5. In a word, no. I ride a motorcycle. Motorcycle helmets are designed to protect the brain, football helmets are designed to protect the skull. It's that simple. That said, neither of my kids are suited for football. My oldest has the size, but not the attitude. He just doesn't have the aggression necessary. My youngest has the attitude but not the size. He's been 10th percentile his whole life. They both enjoy baseball and I'm good with that.
  6. I'm also curious as to what type of gun it was, given multiple injuries from a dropped backpack. Ricochets perhaps?
  7. Smoking meat has a wide variety of benefits for both one's physical and mental health.
  8. Blasphemy! Redemption!
  9. Sounds like maybe the OP authored the article, same wildly inflammatory language and unwillingness to produce any sort of independently verifiable data. Teething pains are normal with the first mass produced anything. The M9 wasn't flawless at first, and neither was the 1911.
  10. Stupid people do stupid things. Damage control is part of a manager's job.
  11. I'm in Maryville, south of Knoxville. I don't mind mailing them if you're not going to be this way.
  12. A officer in uniform. Wow. I wonder if that manager understands that TWRA officers are officers of the law just like regular cops, only with a slightly different jurisdiction? Again... wow.
  13. The shepherds watch over their flock both by day and by night...
  14. If it's gonna be a go-kart auto-x car, I'd be more inclined to turbo it rather than NO2. The turbo will be much more controllable from a throttle response perspective, particularly when you're talking 50% power boost. Slow is smooth and smooth is fast. NO2 isn't smooth. I don't think the electric steering unit would be worth the weight and loss of feel. They're heavy and it'll likely feel like the column is made of plastic.
  15. I broke it during receiver installation. A 3ft cheater bar will do that... Getting the stub off was pretty easy. I cut into the charging handle notch with a cutoff wheel until I could see threads. Then a few whacks with a cold chisel popped it loose. Installation for mine sounds similar to yours. Honestly, you'll never get it to turn that much further once its bottomed out. I used sanding disks to cut the barrel shoulder back enough to get it to line up without requiring an absurd amount of torque. It still required the cheater bar, but I didn't have one foot on the vice pulling for all I was worth. I judged alignment with a home-made tool. I threaded a rod to go in the front sight post and put another rod on the bolt rails. I called it good enough when those rods were parallel. I also used a laser bore sighter to compare with the sights to confirm it was pretty close. I've only shot the rifle once, but windage was darn close at 50 yds. I've got Forester headspace gauges and a few other things laying around. You're welcome to borrow them if you need them.
  16. I made my own receiver wrench. It ain't pretty, but it worked. I strongly recommend a big vice bolted to something very strong. I ripped the vice off my wood workbench in the process.
  17. My wife has a kydex holster from The Well Armed Woman https://thewellarmedwoman.com/product/waistband-convertible-holster-well-armed-woman-custom-models-colors/ and a leather holster made for her by @gjohnsoniv We had to heat the kydex one to reduce the retention a bit. It was so tight you'd give yourself a wedgie on the draw.
  18. Chili is always better the 2nd day. Takes a long time for the flavors to mingle. Sure looks tasty.
  19. Machine shop... @LawEnforcementSalesTN
  20. Certainly not real, the photographer wouldn't be just sitting there and wouldn't have gotten such a perfectly framed shot. As for the bike, any cover is better than no cover.
  21. Confusing and contradictory regulations? Say it ain't so! I've seen that in the hunters guide too and wondered about it. My probably incorrect assumption is that having a HCP and generally being cooperative would mitigate some of the regulatory stupidity.
  22. Welcome!
