  1. I didn't say it very well, but this is mostly what meant. Level out your daily calories and dial back the cardio. The cheat day or even 1 meal is good for your soul. Keep at the weight training but understand you're not 19 anymore and big weights can lead to big pains. I decided I needed to improve my bench. A couple over-enthusiastic workouts later, it took a year for my shoulder to heal. Being the smart guy I am, I then decided I should get better at pull-ups. It took another year for the tendinitis to stop feeling like a knife in my forearm every time I shook hands. Time under tension is the thing.
  2. Your calorie requirements drop as you lose weight. The lighter you get, the lower your maintenance calories are. I'd dial back the cardio a bit and reduce a couple hundred calories per day. That said, I sure wish I could lose 20 lbs. My excuses are too much stress and not enough time.
  3. Still is for my boys.
  4. If he goes along regularly, probably should get him a helmet that fits. That one is way too big.
  5. Jesus said it very similarly...
  6. I agree with blackjack oak. Maybe sassafras.
  7. Y'all have suggestions? Our house could use some levity these days. My wife would likely say I'm the least funny person she knows.
  8. If Jack or Dickel were the only choices, I'd drink rum. Dickel is better than Jack, but that's a pretty low hurdle. There's so much reasonably priced and good tasting whisky available now, I don't know why anyone drinks Jack Daniels. Gentleman Jack is fine, but regular Jack just isn't good. Knob Creek, Elijah Craig, Bushmills, Makers Mark, Angels Envy, 4 Roses, etc.. You don't even have to get into to more boutique stuff like Bulliet or Blantons. Heck, even Turkey or Crown is better than Jack.
  9. To the range rental counter....
  10. I really enjoy golf but don't get to play much these days. I played competitively in high school. We had a membership at Creeks Bend in Chattanooga. I'd play 90 holes/week in the summer, got my handicap down around 4. That was a long time ago. Now with 2 boys who want to come along, makes it an expensive hobby. My budget can't handle $150 for an afternoon very often. The utter lack of reasonable youth rates is very disappointing. The par 3 courses are the only ones I've found that are affordable. I tried to play 9 holes about once a month with a few guys at my old job. Haven't found anyone at the new job yet. The dog likes it when I hit the tennis ball across the yard with my 7 iron.
  11. Double tap

  13. I remember that too, but not the details of the suit. The counter-point is they were not required to patronize that restaurant. Its not like the typical government buldings where you have no alternative. They chose to disarm and eat there. Choices have consequences. Don't misunderstand, I think the misdemeanor charge here is stupid. But I don't put much effort into looking for signs and push come to shove, the brown truck will bring most of the things I need to the front porch.
  14. Meh, no cop likes paperwork so much as to arrest you for just that unless you get belligerent about it or otherwise make a nuisance of yourself. In which case its just piled onto disorderly conduct, trespassing, disobeying an officer, and so on..... Cops have better things to do as well.
  15. My $0.02.... why bother? No one gets charged only with carrying past a sign. It's usually an add-on charge for people who've done something really stupid. I'd much prefer our legislator work on fixing problems of much greater significance, there's plenty to choose from.
  16. I understand it being the busy season (is there a not busy season?), but you need to rest. One thing I've learned as I've gotten older.... trying to power through these kinds of bugs just prolongs the misery. Take a day or 2 and just rest, it'll help a lot. If it doesn't, see a doctor.
  17. From my perspective, the comparison was always toward Israel's compulsory military service and the level of training/proficiency that permeates their society because of that. Simply comparing the number of guns and people doesn't make any sense.
  18. We've still got a few. Two were fighting over our feeder in the front yard before the rain started today.
  19. Who re-chambered it in .308?
  20. How do you draw from that without muzzling everyone in the vehicle? Have they tested this to confirm the headrest still functions to prevent whiplash in a collision?
  21. Anywhere you can find a place to park. Good luck.
  22. Just use old fashioned mouse/rat spring traps baited with peanut butter. I've caught lots of mice and several rats with them. Walmart and any hardware store has them. There's several versions and manufacturers, but they all make the critters dead. They're cheap, easy, and effective. Glue traps catch other things you might not want to catch. Poison tends to flow upwards and kill the good critters that eat the rodents.
  23. Is it a 5 day/week normal daycare or is it less than that? I ask because our church has a pre-school on site. But since it only meets 4 days/week, it's technically not classified as a "school" and so the school gun laws do not apply.
