  1. Tons of great info from Kathy Jackson. Highly recommended.
  2. Go to a range with rentals and try out everything they have. Hard to tell what someone else will or won't like. Concealed carry yoga pants are an actual thing... https://thewellarmedwoman.com/product/concealment-leggings/ But, she may want to consider a slight change in wardrobe. A good belt holster hard to beat. That said, girls seem to be able to pull of the hip/fanny pack thing better than men.
  3. If by "huge conglomerates" you mean the Cerebuses, Blackstones, and Carlyles of the world, then I agree. They exist solely to suck the marrow out of everything they acquire and throw it away when they're done.
  4. Bills Outpost. Buds in Sevierville.
  5. Not an Enfield, no metal strap around the wrist. Looks like an early Mauser rifle to me.
  6. It's been gone for years, they just won't bury it. Once a company gets into a position where being owned by the capital management hyenas seems like a good idea, its extremely difficult to recover. Even the massive surge over the past 6-8 years couldn't overcome nearly $1B in debt.
  7. Based on the specs it appears to be half way between a Shield 9 and a 9mm Compact 2.0. Grip length looks enough longer than the Shield for an easy full hand grip.
  8. I have the offset mount for mine, but I've never used it. The guy I bought the rifle from used it as a deer rifle and said it worked fine. I like the scout scope mount idea.
  9. Interestingly, among the popular youth sports, soccer typically has the highest percentage of serious injuries due to the running with no padding. Taking away face masks and reducing the shoulder pads dramatically is an option for football. The speed and power of the athletes has outgrown the current version of the game. When race cars (and motorcycles) outgrow a track, they either fix the track or don't race there anymore. What changes could be made to football fields to help reduce the head injuries?
  10. I suspect having a shop make one will be cost prohibitive. I'd guess an aluminum one that won't weigh 400lbs will be $2000 or so. And there might be a reason why there's no aftermarket parts available. I'm guessing that mounting one will require body modifications.
  11. Yep. Call it in.
  12. I was thinking more of the impending civil suit, but best of my knowledge it's useable for legal fees. I don't know that it distinguishes between civil and criminal. I'd hope that I'm not so stupid as to violate federal weapons laws.
  13. Which is why I have an umbrella liability insurance policy.
  14. In a word, no. I ride a motorcycle. Motorcycle helmets are designed to protect the brain, football helmets are designed to protect the skull. It's that simple. That said, neither of my kids are suited for football. My oldest has the size, but not the attitude. He just doesn't have the aggression necessary. My youngest has the attitude but not the size. He's been 10th percentile his whole life. They both enjoy baseball and I'm good with that.
  15. I'm also curious as to what type of gun it was, given multiple injuries from a dropped backpack. Ricochets perhaps?
  16. Smoking meat has a wide variety of benefits for both one's physical and mental health.
  17. Blasphemy! Redemption!
  18. Sounds like maybe the OP authored the article, same wildly inflammatory language and unwillingness to produce any sort of independently verifiable data. Teething pains are normal with the first mass produced anything. The M9 wasn't flawless at first, and neither was the 1911.
  19. Stupid people do stupid things. Damage control is part of a manager's job.
  20. I'm in Maryville, south of Knoxville. I don't mind mailing them if you're not going to be this way.
  21. A officer in uniform. Wow. I wonder if that manager understands that TWRA officers are officers of the law just like regular cops, only with a slightly different jurisdiction? Again... wow.
  22. The shepherds watch over their flock both by day and by night...
  23. If it's gonna be a go-kart auto-x car, I'd be more inclined to turbo it rather than NO2. The turbo will be much more controllable from a throttle response perspective, particularly when you're talking 50% power boost. Slow is smooth and smooth is fast. NO2 isn't smooth. I don't think the electric steering unit would be worth the weight and loss of feel. They're heavy and it'll likely feel like the column is made of plastic.
  24. I broke it during receiver installation. A 3ft cheater bar will do that... Getting the stub off was pretty easy. I cut into the charging handle notch with a cutoff wheel until I could see threads. Then a few whacks with a cold chisel popped it loose. Installation for mine sounds similar to yours. Honestly, you'll never get it to turn that much further once its bottomed out. I used sanding disks to cut the barrel shoulder back enough to get it to line up without requiring an absurd amount of torque. It still required the cheater bar, but I didn't have one foot on the vice pulling for all I was worth. I judged alignment with a home-made tool. I threaded a rod to go in the front sight post and put another rod on the bolt rails. I called it good enough when those rods were parallel. I also used a laser bore sighter to compare with the sights to confirm it was pretty close. I've only shot the rifle once, but windage was darn close at 50 yds. I've got Forester headspace gauges and a few other things laying around. You're welcome to borrow them if you need them.
