  1. The Vrod is the coolest modern bike HD made. That it was discontinued was telling of the state of HD. Fun memory.... been riding the dragon all day and it's getting dark so one last pass on my way home. I'm tired so not pushing the pace, just rolling comfortably. This tremendous noise comes up behind me, it's loud over my bike and earplugs. Then blinding headlights begin to appear in my mirrors. I thought was the Cobra club that I'd seen earlier. I turn up the wick a little but it's still right behind me. I decide to put my ego in my pocket and let whoever/whatever that is go past. A guy wearing full leathers goes thundering past on a Vrod and lays a shower of sparks into the next corner. No way. I'm on it and it's all I can do to keep up with this guy. Again, self-preservation kicks in and I back off. As i approach the overlook, I see the guy getting off the bike and decide to stop and chat. Turns out he's been a club racer for years, as evidenced by the well worn, '80's gear he's wearing. The rear tire is a shredded race slick with balls of gooey rubber hanging off both sides. The pegs are heat discolored and beveled back so they're maybe 1-1/2" long. The exhaust has a slot about 1/3rd of the circumference ground into it. His comment... "ya know, these things go pretty good once you make a little clearance. "
  2. Everybody needs about 6 bikes... a trials bike, a woods bike, a MX bike, a street bike, a touring bike, and a track bike. And if you're ever over that way, go see... https://wheelsthroughtime.com/
  3. Kinda looks like a 12ga pistol.
  4. I rode this for 10-12 years... ... until I succumbed to the dirty side and got this...
  5. I've never understood trikes. They're terribly unstable when turning or braking. The newer ones with the single wheel in the back and electronic nannys make a little more sense, but wouldn't a convertible be much better?
  6. The lack of ground clearance is one of those things that never made any sense to me. But it'll clearance itself, if you know what you're doing.
  7. My wife thinks its a hickory. A better picture of a single leaf and a branch with several leaves to show if the stems are opposed or offset would help. Any blooms, flowers, or nuts?
  8. The Abbott brothers are reunited. RIP Vin.
  9. I almost got side-swiped by a nice looking one of those a few hours ago. The gent driving it felt the need to take his half out of the middle at an inopportune moment. It was a nice looking truck though.
  10. Lots of options.... The new, slightly downsized Goldwing is really nice. A bit sportier than the behemoth it had become. The Triumph Tiger 800 is even more toward the sporty end. The Africa Twin is nice. The Versys or V-strom in either size are also very capable. Can't really go wrong with one of the KTM's either. Find a demo day or 3 and try a few on for size.
  11. Just finished Stephen Hunter's iSniper. Not his best, but not bad either. Next is Alton Brown's Feasting on Asphalt. It's entertaining so far.
  12. Welcome!
  13. Have the insurance company send a corrected check. That's assuming both their names aren't on the policy anymore. Else, certified copy of decree and politely don't take no for an answer.
  14. And they're all gonna go in the grinder.
  15. Happy Father's Day gents.
  16. Which is why the Somali pirates were so successful for so long. Once the sailors on the cargo ships said "screw that" and armed themselves, and the various maritime authorities started looking the other way, things changed.
  17. Interesting. I wonder if the booms can be manipulated to raise the trailer over terrain?
  18. So a story in the MSM had half (or less) of the whole story and was written to fit a particular narrative. Those dang CNN reporters got us again .... oh, wait.
  19. So if a gun business is using their software, and has paid a license to do so, did they shut that down too? With no notice? In addition to just being bad business, that sounds like a contract violation to me.
  20. I'm no expert, but to my knowledge, primer swipe is normal for most any tilting barrel semi-auto pistol. After firing, the barrel cams downward to unlock before the firing pin is fully retracted. If it's not causing malfunctions or pierced primers, it's of little concern. Most all of my pistols do it to varying degrees.
  21. Bipolar perhaps? The highest of highs and lowest of lows.
  22. But why do either? Either it's loaded or it isn't. Do they carry their side arms with an empty chamber?
  23. Even more so for those routinely in the public eye.
  24. Fly me to the moon....
