Plenty of possibilities.... An unusual wind/weather pattern in the spring pushed the birds somewhere else during their migration here. A Headwind could have stopped them from coming this far, or they didn't make it at all. Bad winter in South America could have cut the numbers significantly. Hurricane Harvey could have killed a lot of them on their way south last fall.

Sucko. Doesn't insurance usually cover that?

Same for me as a lot of others. It's both a hobby and a tool. I carry when I can, which is to say when I'm out with my family. I'm lucky to get to a range 3-4 times/yr. I took a class earlier this year and really enjoyed it. My wife was also more supportive because it was a "class". My hope is to purvey that into a couple more classes. I try to dry practice when I have a few minutes to spare, but with wife, kids, house, etc. those moments can be fleeting.

Don't sweat it, I was just yanking your chain. Irfanview is a free photo editor that will easily do the basic stuff. You can use it to resize photos and make them smaller. https://www.irfanview.com/

Likely nothing. The ballast is what provides the juice to light off a fluorescent tube and controls the current once it's on. I doubt the bulb would light without a ballast, but it'll blow if it does.

You might get a few stop-overs, but migration season has already begun.

At long last, we finally have a single pair of hummingbirds eating from our feeder. Only took 4 months.

Pocket carry is really convenient. It's easy and nearly invisible unless you wear tight pants. I'd also like to get my hands on a Security 9. So far, my occasional looks have come up empty.

Indeed. The property they bought is just down from where I work. By their initial plan, they should be a full production by now. The property is overgrown, so draw your own conclusions.

Indeed, that's exactly what happens. Pressure washer to the rescue.

I was at that one too. Excellent show.

I so wanna go to that show. The weekday night just makes it awfully difficult.

Every smoker is a little different. Half the fun is learning what works best with yours.

Found this not too long ago, hadn't heard of it before. It's pretty good, reminds me of Knob Creek with a touch of Jack Daniels. When I said that to one of my friends, he immediately coined it, "Jack's Knob."

It's all in the presentation. "Hey boys, wanna cut stuff up with the hatchet? "

While I'd pay money to see it, where'd you get 8 million psi? -
Anyone get damage from the storms last night? Weather goob said 80mph winds in some areas and Crossville looked particularly ugly. A friend lives there who I haven't heard from yet. Not much other than some rain and a good light show at our house.

Why not? Mine wife does. It's yummy. Turkey noodle soup with smoked turkey stock is a winter staple. As is bean soup made with smoked ham stock. We've got maybe a dozen cool whip containers of stock in the freezer.

Because that's what marketing/sales people do. -
For the most part, it really is that simple. The fun part is finding a rub you like on various meats and finding out how much smoke flavor you like. Pork is usually the most forgiving, so it's easy to start with. I like to get a pork loin, inject it with Allegra marinade (there's several versions), rub it with McCormicks Pork Rub, and smoke it for about 4 hrs until it hits temp. Poultry is next... hard to best smoked turkey on Thanksgiving.

So something north of 80,000 psi and 5,500 ft/s. interesting. -
Based on my limited understanding and my parents and in-laws experience, Medicare is pretty good as OS says. The problem is that its not sustainable. The baby boomer generation (which my parents are part of) will likely bankrupt it or drive costs up beyond that of other private insurance. My parents and in-laws both delayed some necessary procedures because they were MUCH less expensive using Medicare than their employer provided insurance. My parents insurance was mom's public school teacher plan and my F-I-L worked at Alcoa for 40 years. I pay $5000/yr for my employer plan with a $4200 deductible and $10,000 max out of pocket. And the customer service sucks. While i still don't necessarily like the idea of a national healthcare system, its a bit hard to believe it could be much worse.

Gotta try on shoes first. Sketchers are fine otherwise.
