  1. Is there a class like this in the Knoxville area? Otherwise I'm looking at a 200 mile trip to Smyrna! Looks like it would be worth the trip though. Also wondering if there will be another class because I just applied for my HCP last week and I seriously doubt I'll have it by Mar 14th.
  2. Just got a letter stating my plates will be in by the 28th as well. I had almost forgot all about it!
  3. +1 on Ramsey. Liked what I read on his website.
  4. I called NRA-ILA just now because I didn't see anything on their website about this. They said they were still researching it and they will update their site soon.
  5. Since day 1? And I thought my 22 years of being a bag-over-the-head fan was torture! I don't think I sat that close to the tv for that long in my life! They're still partying and already the Colts are favored by 3 1/2
  6. I'll be there.... wearing my Saints shirt!!
  7. Wooohoooo!!!!! For the first time in franchise history the Saints are going to the Superbowl!!! I've been a Saints fan for 22 years and finally.....
  8. Im not an LEO, therefore I'm not obligated to protect others. I agree with bkelm18... I'm obligated to protect myself.
  9. Blue October, 32 Leaves, Advent, Course Of Nature, Smile Empty Soul.
  10. less than 3 months and you haven't renewed? Not that I would know because I just applied for mine but I've been reading threads on here where it has taken up to 6 months to get the renewal done.
  11. I'm still up for it. Any Saturday is good. But I would much rather spend this upcoming Saturday doing my taxes!
  12. Open up your own gun store and you can have it all!!!
  13. School Name: On Target Location: Knoxville Primary Instructor: Doug HCP Class Cost: $65 (They had a deal at gun show for $55) Website: On Target Training Center, Inc. - Handgun Carry Permit Training - Knoxville, Tennessee Phone: 865-242-4665 Your Personal Experience: Doug is an excellent instructor. Very informative, knows the law, and kept everything flowing at a steady pace. The 8 hours went by rather quick! The class is held at the John Sevier Hunter Education Center. You can bring your own gun or use a house gun. If you use their gun then you just pay for ammo. This is an outdoor range so dress appropriately. Also, I would recommend bringing a bag lunch.
  14. Finally got the prints done today. Y'all were right... UPS in Halls is the place to go. Took about 5 mins. Don't know if it was a waste of money, but I paid the $4 for confirmation on receipt of the prints. I guess I did it because it's a bit of a trip from home. Now the wait begins.....
  15. Did anyone go? I had to do the brakes on my SUV and couldn't make it. And tomorrow it's gonna rain so figure this time I'll go... if it's worth it.
  16. FYI: According to the TN Handgun Permit Reference Guide, if you have a valid NY permit, then you take the HCP class, submit an application, and pay a renewal fee. So you won't have to get fingerprinted and pay the full $115. Someone correct me if I'm wrong... don't want to be giving bad info!!
  17. Welcome from a fellow escapee from the People's Republic. Get out of there fast!! Was just looking at the NRA-ILA site on the upcoming anti-gun bills for NY. Glad I left. Re-discover your freedoms! (and also cheap gas, cheap electric, etc...)
  18. I should be there around lunch time... about 1.
  19. Found it while searching for gun shows. It's at the Armory.
  20. Well since I'm gonna be in Knox on Saturday, I'll be a little closer to Athens.... and it's gonna be a wet weekend anyway.... I can talk myself into making the trip!!
  21. Well I finally got to Sevier County to do the paperwork but didn't have time to get fingerprints... had to get back to work. I see the UPS store in Knox does it on Saturday so I'll go then. FWIW: only took about 10 mins this morning at Sevier. They opened at 7 and I was the only one there. The clerk told me that there's no place in Sevier county to get prints. (They used to do it at the school but stopped) and I couldn't wait til 9 for UPS to open... oh well, what's 3 more days when it could take up to 90 to get the permit?
  22. Thinking about going to the one in Athens this weekend but it's about 70 miles away! Anyone been to it before? Worth the trip? If not, I'll just wait for the one in K-town next weekend....
  23. Just so I can plan my day because I've read that my time at DOS could be anywhere from 30mins to 3hours... Do you have to make an appointment to get fingerprinted (UPS Store or wherever) or is it first come first served? Also, the HCP class instructor said not to go to Straw Plains because I'll be there all day. Anyone have experience with Sevier County? Thanks in advance....
  24. Just joined and found this thread. Still any interest in this? Jan 30th is good. Actually, just about any Saturday is good. Tony Gore's, Buddy's, .... I'm open.
  25. J Floyds is where I bought the S&W and I bought the Bersa at Sevier. Which reminds me I have to go there and get a renew my membership card. And you're right... super friendly people that are willing to take the time to talk about guns!
