  1. Just curious if there's any audiophile shops still around that can service these turntables?  I've read about using protractors, shims, and special alignment tools whenever you replace the cartridge. Something like the Revox looks like fun to align.  With some of these units over 30 years old, It'll be tough to find schematics & owners manuals.
  2. Kieefer, hold onto it.  The new stuff is crap.  I bought a new Pioneer (made in Vietnam  :puke:  ) and immediately returned it.  I ended up buying an older Nakamichi AV-3 off eBay (always wanted but could never afford)  Bast damn receiver I've had yet! Sold my Denon turntable years ago.  Looked at eBay to see what they're going for and it's sticker shock. Bang & Olufsen TX2 $225 needs cartridge ($245), Revox $300-$700, And a 1985 Nakamichi Dragon Self Computing Turntable for a mere $7,500  :stunned:  And some other brands I've not heard of like Rotel, Rega, & Sota.  I know you get what you pay for and if I get another, it won't be a cheap JCPenney from the local pawn shop.
  3. Dust off the needle and get out the record cleaning kits.... vinyl is making a comeback!   http://www.wsj.com/articles/the-biggest-music-comeback-of-2014-vinyl-records-1418323133?mod=WSJ_article_EditorsPicks   Didn't know about United Record Pressing in Nashville.  They've been around since 1949.  Impressive.
  4. The fun of flying is long gone.  I haven't been on a plane in 7 years.  The TSA hasn't got any better.  Last time I went thru security they told everyone to take off their shoes.  They made me throw out my bottle of soda.  Damn near missed my flight (and yes, I arrived 2 hours early.)  Besides that, flying is expensive.  Why pay $420+ to go to Florida when I can drive for less than half that and carry my gun? :2cents: Off topic but if anyone flies on Southwest, get the emergency exit window seat.  The seat in front is removed and you can really stretch out!
  5.   I would park in front of the store in that area that says "no parking"  When an employee comes out and says "you can't park there" say "fine, call the cops.  I'll move when they have one of these cars towed that shouldn't be in the handicap spot."
  6. http://happyplace.someecards.com/rules/the-manager-at-a-chickfila-made-a-list-of-words-his-employees-were-no-longer-allowed-to-say/   Don't know where this Chick-Fil-A is at so must be a "local" thing.  Obey or lose your employee meals. I agree with the top comment:
  7.   Rudy Giuliani mentioned this on Meet The Press and was called a racist.  However, the President gets a pass. :squint:    http://www.mediaite.com/uncategorized/giuliani-obama-said-same-thing-about-black-crime-as-i-did-but-i-was-called-a-racist/
  8. Pay for just the channels you want.... Used to be that way back in the late 80's thru early 90's if you had a C-band dish. IIRC, Weather Channel was .50/month, USA Network .85/month, ESPN/ESPN2/EPSN News 2.50/month.  My monthly bill was around $8  :pleased:  ahh the good old days.. then along came the pizza dish with no equipment to maintain and the masses were thrilled.
  9. They won't.  They want your $$$.  Subscribe to Sunday Ticket or deal with the meaningless, out of market games.
  10. How about Cutler as their new QB?   http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000446543/article/tennessee-titans-prepping-for-possible-jay-cutler-deal   IMHO this would be stupid.  Cutler is pathetic and has a flippant attitude.  Why not develop Mettenberger or go after Mariota (if eligible)?
  11. I bet if there was a crucifix and it said "Jesus Is Lord" they would've removed it.  ^_^
  12. If they win I want the lawyers name. I want to sue Bic for making pens that keep misspelling words.
  13. No... although I was tempted to be part of the 1% (unsure) JK!
  14. Radio Shack is nothing but a glorified cell phone store.  Times have changed.  Gone is their selection of car & home stereos, tv's, kits, etc.  But they still ask you if you need batteries! :-\ Last time I went in, the kid asked me if I needed help and I said sure... I need some capacitors for the power supply on my Swan 350.  I got a deer in the head lights look. I think you're right, Rat Shack is next.  Sears will go the way of Montgomery Wards.  JCPenney will be next. I miss competition.  Growing up in the NE we had Ames, Bradlees, Jamesway, Caldor, Two-Guys.... all long gone.  Now it's just Walmart, Target, or shop online.
  15. I know misery!! Saints are my NFC team and Jets are my AFC team (Yes, I can like 2 teams!) I remember the "Aints" with the brown bags over the head and I remember the Jets under possibly the worst coach in the history of NFL, Rich Kotite.  I am used to torture  :pleased:
  16. What a shame... the downward spiral continues.  Stocks down over 30%, thousands of jobs gone and it doesn't get any better:   http://consumerist.com/2014/12/05/sears-holdings-admits-plans-to-close-105-more-stores-wont-say-which-ones/   I remember working at Kmart back in my high school days.  It was a great place to work.  Part time and they still gave me benefits. Terrific people including management.  My break time was spent hanging out in the K-Grill :yum:  It was always fun pushing that "Blue Light Special" cart and a bunch of old ladies following me asking "where are you going? what's the special?" :D Don't know where they went wrong but I'm sure soon we'll be left with just Walmart and Target.  :meh:

    Hello!

Guess you don't have a dash cam? :D You could've uploaded the video here
  18. J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets!! :taunt:  There goes the first round draft pick  Next weeks early line has Jaguars by 3 over Titans.
  19. This is a good idea...   http://consumerist.com/2014/12/11/couple-tired-of-holiday-package-thefts-fills-box-with-excrement-sets-up-camera/

    HH GREGG

Bought my stove there. They had the best price. And unlike Best Buy, they don't try to force you into buying an extended warranty. Two things I don't like about Best Buy; 1) whatever you're looking at, the sales person tries to talk you into getting something "better." 2) They push that extended warranty saying you're gonna need it, you don't know what a hassle it'll be when it breaks. Personally, I miss Circuit City....
  21. Predictions for the second half of season 5:   http://comicbook.com/2014/12/07/the-walking-dead-five-predictions-for-the-second-half-of-season-/
  22. With this show, who knows what will happen.  Maybe Gabriel snaps and hooks up with Morgan and they go on a walker killing spree. :dunno:
  23. I think you're right.  She probably thought she would be there a lot longer and is now thinking "Crap, now what?"  Any present or future cast member should know they could only last 1 episode or 100.  Wondering who's next... Gabriel, Eugene, maybe Tara.
  24. Timing belt should be replaced at 105kmi.  The tensioner and idler pulleys should also be replaced.  Are there no maintenance records available? Don't know if you saw this site but at the top it shows there's a recall.  Check to see if it was done: http://www.cars101.com/subaru/baja/baja2005.html If you want to check for head gasket or block issues, you can get this test kit from NAPA: http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/CatalogItemDetail.aspx?R=BK_7001006_0361073538
  25. Speaking of old westerns, anyone remember the original "Wild Wild West"? (Robert Conrad & Ross Martin 1965-1969) It was before my time but I watched the re-runs back in the 90's. Strange reason why it was cancelled: "Despite high ratings, the series was cancelled near the end of its fourth season as a concession to Congress over television violence." (from wikipedia) Compared to today's violence on tv?? :squint:   Anyhow, I missed this show and was able to find the DVD set (all 104 episodes).
