Mac or Linux... problem solved
-
I've got a general license but haven't been on the air in a few months. My antenna was knocked out by the wind and I'm not messing with it til it gets warmer. I have an Icom 706 MkII & a Swan 350 (or should I say "three drifty" :) )

Chasing down a battery drain can be fun. Years ago, I spent hours going thru the fuse panel trying to figure it out. Turned out to be a relay that was occasionally sticking. Also, I've noticed that after a battery is fully drained about 3-4 times that it will never hold a charge again. Don't know if it destroys the cells or ruins the acid but I've found out its best to buy a new one once it been "killed" a number of times.

Here's the solution. Found this on Craigslist... Free TV!!! Yup, free movies, free sports, free PPV, even free porn! :stunned: All you need is an internet connection. http://nwga.craigslist.org/for/4847920687.html Gotta be a scam. That phone number on the box is a Bronx/Queens/Brooklyn area code yet it's listed in NW Georgia. :squint: Anyone want to take a $200 gamble?

I think in the next month or two there will be some good deals on all types of vehicles. It's tax season and some people will start selling to pay Uncle Sam. :2cents:

Guess I'll have to read up on Florida law before my next trip down there. Wouldn't want to be arrested because my gun wasn't "securely encased." http://bearingarms.com/jets-johnson-arrested-bogus-gun-charge/

Spoken word music.... I'll stick with Captain Beefheart

Anybody a shop mechanic/ in the auto parts biz?
NextExit replied to musicman's topic in General Chat
Then guess I won't recommend IPD :P Actually I get all my euro parts from Rock Auto. They're cheap and fast. They've only screwed up once... sent me the wrong head gasket for my S80 then sent the right one overnight at no charge. -
I just thought it was odd that Illinois didn't make this list. I guess the tranquility of the rest of the state makes up for all the homicides in Chicago.

Might be Firefox. I've been having some weird issues when using Firefox lately so I've gone back to using Safari.

Wow!!! I didn't think TN would be that restrictive! :stunned: I'd rather buy cars that need work, fix 'em up and sell. Can't make a living doing that but could supplement my income. Beside, being a shade tree mechanic wouldn't give me enough time to fix/sell more than 5 in a year anyway. ;)

Could be, might be, will be charged. I prefer "will not be charged" cus I'm not drinking and driving. I have better ways to spend my money than on a lawyer who might find a loophole. Just not worth it. I don't care if I'm 5 miles from home and the taxi charges me $100. that's cheaper than the consequences. :2cents:

What maintenance on a used truck 145k miles?
NextExit replied to maroonandwhite's topic in General Chat
Definitely do not do a backflush. Contaminants will be pushed into the valve body and your tranny will start acting up. When I bought my LR with 182kmi, I asked the dealer to do a flush and fill. He said no because I'll come back within a week complain about the tranny not shifting right. He said at that mileage, just do a drain & fill and change the filter. I'm at 208kmi now and no problems at all. :pleased: If your drive shafts have grease fittings, make sure you grease them at least once a year especially if it's 4x4. On mine, failure to grease the front drive axle can result in it breaking and punching a hole in the side of the tranny. While your under there, check tie rods, control arms, and ball joints. I'd say change the fuel filter but GM makes them "all in one" with the fuel pump inside the tank. :ugh: -
Just be like this guy: https://autos.yahoo.com/news/man-buys-pickup-75-drives-38-years-plus-153023218.html

Check with the state, but I believe that if you buy/sell more than 10 vehicles in a year, you need a dealers license. I think you need one anyway.... how are your customers going to test drive the cars? You need a dealer plate on it and insurance. And yes, be prepared for repos and the damage done to your vehicles. When I lived in Illinois, I had a friend that ran a "buy here, pay here" lot and I did a couple repos for him. Not fun. Prepare for the worst if you have to repo (busted windows, slashed tires, parted out sitting on jack stands) As for your payment contract you might find one at Legal Zoom or Google "loan agreement" or "promissory note." Best of luck  And don't take trades!! When I put my car on Craigslist, someone offered me a dog and an x-box.

Another theory on what may have happened: http://www.hindustantimes.com/world-news/airasia-plane-may-have-made-emergency-landing-high-waves-sunk-it-experts/article1-1302454.aspx

I could get a reliable used 4x4 at a great price.... problem is, it'll be from the rust belt. Rusty but trusty. ^_^

As long as your customers aren't abusing that leased equipment, you'll probably do well. (Go to Home Depot and look at the condition of some of their rentals) The other thing I'd check into is insurance requirements. I don't know how it works out on equipment rentals.

Could try eBay. Might be a listing that's close by. Do you know someone that's a car dealer? (Maybe someone on here?) They could look for a good pickup at the next auction.

Out running around and stopped in at Flea Traders Paradise in Sevierville. Inside there's a record shop. Quite a selection.... records, 8 tracks, even laser disc! :stunned: They also have a few turntables & receivers. I found the one I wanted; a Technics SL-6 in like new condition. :woohoo:

The weather in that area is gonna be bad the next couple days so they won't be able to do much. Washington Post has some info: http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/grim-airasia-search-for-bodies-hampered-by-storms/2014/12/31/01a74026-90b6-11e4-ba53-a477d66580ed_story.html?wprss=rss_world

Not a Ford person but I found this write up. Doesn't look too bad but definitely not a 10 minute job. http://bengrosser.com/howto/fordthermostat/

I resolve to buy Powerball & Mega Millions tickets twice a week so when I win, I can throw my cell phone & computer in the garbage and move to a beach front cottage in Belize. :pleased:

So if I buy a turntable that needs tweaking and peaking, it looks like I'm in for a drive. I've got my eyes on a Technics SL-6 (a programmable turntable... like an early version of the cd player) Ringgold wouldn't be a bad trip. I'll bring my lava lamp. Do they play the Dead in that hippy shop? Maybe I can pick up an old Heathkit console TV while I'm there. At least we know the 8 track will never make a comeback :D
