  1. Reportedly, Bar-Sto doesn't touch the gun but instead "fits" the barrel to the slide/gun. All work and or modification is done to the barrel itself.
  2. Reportedly (as I have no first hand use) Bar-Sto is good stuff. The barrels are considered semi-drop in I bleieve as in some of the barrels drop right in and others require fitting. AFAIK, you can send your 229 into Bar-Sto or have a gunsmith that you trust to do the fitting. In these days of ammo prices I'd say go for it. Check out www.sigforum.com and you'll probably find more info.

    Sig Pro 2340

I had a Sig Pro 2022 .40 and it was a great gun. The Sig Pro line is kind of a hidden jewel. The guns aren't too expensive and they shoot great. I agree with utarch00, the trigger on every Sig Pro I've shot was butter.
  4. very nice pistol, happy birthday

    SIG 229

I've carried one (40S&W) almost everyday for the last three years. The 229 is my favorite pistol, it can do it all. The 229 just feels great in the hand. You can find great deals if you look around. You can't go wrong with a 229.
  6. I've used Flitz on some barrels and feed ramps as well. Although, I did it manually without power tools it came out looking great. Probably not a mirror shine though.
  7. Welcome, I'm also in Bristol.

    Swiss K31

Any of you folks own or have experience with the Swiss K31. Everything I've read about them leads me to believe that they are a well made and accurate rifle in the surplus C&R category. I've had the opportunity to check several out in person and I love the straight pull action. I haven't had the chance to fire one, yet, and I'd like input from those of you who have fired or owned a K31. Thanks. Matt
  9. I went about lunch time. It was a pretty good turnout, much like the previous one. I saw a lot of nice guns and prices weren't too bad on most of the things I looked at. $10 to get in but with that admission you can get in Sunday for free. It's was $8 last time, so I figure that they're trying to make a profit on the coin toss of how many will attend on Easter Sunday. But, again, I felt it was a good show. I didn't purchase any guns but I did find a set of XS Big Dots for my Glock at a great price. I bought them from a guy who's store is in Cookeville, TN, I think Tenn-Tac.
  10. Did anybody go today? How was it? I'm trying to decide whether to go or not.
  11. I feel your pain. I can see the GoodYear blimp from my house.
  12. Congrats, the 229 is a great choice. You will not be sorry. Enjoy! Did you end up with a 9mm?
  13. I love my CTAC. The Don Hume line is great, I've had goodluck with a 721OT, great price, quality made, and durable.
  14. Welcome from Bristol.
  15. 229 is agreat pistol. I think you did excellent. I'm a fellow Sig fan and the 229 is one of my favorites, I carry one 12 hours a day. Load up on 13 round mags and ammo. Just FYI, 228 mags will work with your 229 (actually same mag). Congrats on a great buy!
  16. Wife's out of town so I may go, but after the last Gray show I wasn't real impressed. It'll be a $7 gamble I guess.
  17. Howdy from Bristol.
  18. The Masada is about the only thing I specifically want to buy regarding long guns. I may try to find an AK and possibly another AR. In respect to handguns I plan on buying two G19s (one for the wife) and a G21SF.
  19. Sig 229 or Glock 32
  20. Congrats on your first AR. I got my first in October so I'll give you a run down on my progression: 1.) Ammo, GI Mags, Magpul P-Mags 2.) Vickers/Blue Force Sling 3.) Magpul MIAD Grip 4.) EOTech 512 HWS I'd suggest a sling and the Specter MOUT is a fine one, I have one on my 870. I'd just take your time and figure out what you like and don't. You can't go wrong with mags and ammo.

    Price on Sig P229

I don't think that is a horrible price, also considering you got a short trigger. TN tax is un-kind when buying expensive guns. My opinion if it's what you really wanted and you think it's worth what you paid, don't look back. You will love the 229. The rail is for accessories like lights, some lasers, or light laser combos. Post up pics of that 229!
  22. I had a chance to handle one Friday at one of my local shops. It was the black model. Looks to be well made and solid. There was also a ban-era Steyr AUG and after comparing the two side by side I prefer the STG. I only got to handle both but if the STG shoots as good as it looks it has to be quite a nice weapon.
  23. Very nice!
  24. Welcome from Bristol. I used to do a little mountain biking up that way. Roan Mtn. is a beauty.
  25. Well, I went. It was crazy how many people were there. I don't remember the Meadowview show ever being that big. The area of the hall the show was contained in seemed bigger than usual. As far as guns, I wasn't blown away, as in there didn't seem to be a tremendous amount of guns there to justify the crowd, but it was better than the show I attended there in the fall. I had to park what seemed like a half a mile away, but I lived! As far as what I found, I got to fondle a dark earth .45 M&P, the first of it's kind I've seen in person. I saw a good deal on a Benelli M2 but parted ways before my plastic bought it. I saw a couple of new Sig P250s, very nice, and Gunslingers had a cool looking re-finished P6. There seemed to be a few new vendors that I did not remember seeing in the past. All in all, I felt better about the $8 I spent today than the $7 I wasted at the last Gray Fairgrounds Show.
