I'm a Ruger fan (I love my SR9), but the $443 sugg. retail price on Ruger's website scares me a little. I'll wait a while and see what reaction they get and sell for when they hit the market. They do look interesting, though.

If you don't mind, keep me informed. I'm really curious about these trigger mods.
-
Let me know if you get it all worked out. Kinda makes me a little hesitant to buy one. They brag a lot about a simple drop in part that can make your trigger pull 5 lbs. or 3.5 lbs on their website. They say the angle of the new part makes the difference, but so far the only place I've heard good news about them is on their own site. Anybody can brag about their own stuff & I wanted to hear about real world results. Thanks kieefer.

Bass Pro is a 2 hour drive for us. As far as that goes, Coal Creek Armory is over 1 1/2 hours from my house and it's the closest HCP class I've found right now. Might as well drive the extra half hour and use the saved money for ammo. Gives us an excuse to jump on over to Gatlinburg.

I've been reading about the Ghost Inc. trigger mod for SR9's, but haven't heard from anyone that has actually installed one. My SR9 already has a pretty good trigger feel, but I'd like to lighten & smooth it out a little more than just polishing can do. Has anybody installed one into their SR9? Which did you use and what difference did it make?

Did you order the grips from one of the members or a vendor? Who?

Ever seen "O Brother Where Art Thou", when the guy says "Two weeks from everywhere"? Thats pretty much describes where I live. I'm trying to locate a good indoor range. I live in Scott County and, even outdoor areas are becoming scarce, plus its cold as whizz right now. A lot of people suggest Coal Creek Armory in Knoxville, but it's 75 miles away & it's a 3 1/2 hour drive to the Nashville area. Any good indoor ranges in between that anyone can suggest?

Legal Folder Carry Blade length
luvmyberetta replied to willis68's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
Folding knives with a blade length of 4" or less is legal in public places, except of course schools, federal buildings, and some events. Wearing sheath knives of any length is prohibited in all public places in TN. Notice I said "wearing". Camping, hiking, hunting, etc...they are suppost to be packed with gear & not worn. I was stopped once by police walking into a store because I got back from hunting and forgot I still had my SOG strapped to my belt. I didn't get in trouble because they knew I had obviously been hunting & simply forgot to leave it in the truck, but I wouldn't advise walking around Wally World all day with your sheath knife on your belt. -
Is permit required for black powder pistol?
luvmyberetta replied to graywolf's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
The ATF does not consider black powder firearms as "weapons" in the traditional sense. That's why there's no background checks or $10 fee when purchasing black powder revolvers or rifles. If you're 18, you can even purchase black powder revolvers through the mail. I'm not completely sure about the carry law, but every police officer I've spoken with said I could legally carry without a permit, but that it wasn't a good idea. Some said carry was ok, but without the firing caps. There's a little gray area here. It's probably better to be safe than sorry and just go get a carry permit. -
A friend asked me to make a tactical style holster for his Taurus 480 Raging Bull. I used 12oz full grain leather & it turned out well. I hand puch and hand sew all my holsters. The gun is actually easy to carry & draw. It was a real job to form that 12oz leather though, but a lot of fun.

I would report it missing or stolen. Do it before she has a chance to pawn it, sell it, or give it away to help cover your butt. If she sells the pistol or it get stolen from her and it's used in a crime, at least it will be on record that you reported it missing. I don't know the laws there, but if you take her to small claims court, she may have to pay your court cost if found guilty also. Good luck.

That's a common problem with many 1911 style pistols. The original design was for ball ammo & a lot of clones do not cycle HP rounds very well or at all, while others never have a problem. There are some HP out there that will cycle better for some pistols because of the shape of the bullet. I always liked shooting Golden Sabers or Star Fires & never had any problems. I got lucky and had a 1911 that would shoot anything and never had any problems with any brand, but some 1911's won't shoot anything, but FMJ. Try some differnt brands and see if you find one that works for yours. As far as mags. I used old factory Colt mags and Star 8 rnd mags and never had a problem with either. If you try different brands of HP and still don't find anything that feeds reliably, you may need to take it to a smith and have the ramp "tuned" a bit.

Sounds like the best thing to do is go online and lookup the Walmarts in your area and simply call them and ask for the sporting goods department. Even then you may not get much help. I went into my local Walmart, in Oneida and asked about a Weaver rail and the salesman told me he had never heard of anything like that. I pointed out that there were about 20 hanging right behind him on the wall behind the counter. He said he had worked in sporting goods for over 4 years and had never noticed them before. WTF?!?!?!?!? Who trains these idiots?!?

Box has been shipped by priority mail. You should see it in a couple days, Broomhead.

Same thing everyone else does everytime there's a rumor of a snow storm or Y2K. Go to Walmart and buy a crate of bread, peanut butter, and milk! Osama bin Laden's won't come around if there's peanut butter...he's afraid of peanut butter...gets stuck in his beard! PS: I had a buddy that said if society fell, he'd stock up on cell phones so he could sell them on ebay to make money to survive. Yep. He'd be one of the first to go. By the way; he works at our local radio shack.

This shows you that some people shouldn't be allowed to handle firearms. -"Hey bubba? Whats that clickin' noise?" I'm glad the guys ok, but before you shoot a weapon don't you usually check to see what caliber it is? Hope the owner and the shooter both learned an expensive lesson.

May sound stranger, but I've found Mechanix and stretch neoprene water ski style gloves to be the most comfortable and they allow you to still feel the trigger, even a light trigger. They don't have all that extra material at the tips that tends to get in the way, but they're not going to be as warm as winter gloves. The neoprene style tend to be a little warmer, but I'd keep a pair of "hot hands" with you at the range.

I've used ceramic kitchen knives and they are super sharp, but VERY brittle. I went back to steel knives because ceramic is not very practical and their use is too limited. The ceramic is so hard that it can shatter if any side to side pressure is applied. It's kind of like using a shard of glass as a knife...super sharp edge, but too brittle for daily use. They are fine for use in the kitchen on fruit/vegies, but that's about it. I prefer a good high carbon or stainless knife any day.

After reading this post, I decided to order a small bottle from Glow Inc. I ordered the Ultra Green V10. This stuff is great! I put it on my SR9 and my Cougar and it works really well. I was surprised at how bright it was and how long it glows. I held the bottle up to a flourecent light and put on my shelf and the bottle was still glowing almost 30 hours later. I charge the sights before bed and keep a small L.E.D. keychain light with my pistols in case I need to charge the sights without drawing attention. I'm really pleased with the results.

You got it, Broomhead.

Out of practice, but my sensei taught shotokan & kenpo-jutsu. I was on my way to black belt until I got my knee ripped out during a full contact competition. (A$$hole couldn't control his kicks.) I got a year of physical therapy and a permanently dislocated knee cap out of it. Anyway...one of my favorite instructors left for a year to train in China and came back & even trained with Gil Hibbens for a short time. I've met Gil Hibbens at a couple of knife and gun shows, but never got my ass kicked by him.

Found a deal at a local pawn shop. Owner had 4 Mosin Nagants, all marked $100 each. Looked them over and found one with the "F" word stamped on it. Yep; grabbed up a Finnish model M39 for $100 otd, in near mint condition. No rust, no pitting of any kind, and a clean stock & barrel. The owner said he had never heard of one and said that a Russian rifle is a Russian rifle. Oh, well. I told him to call me if he got another "Finnish" Russian rifle in.

Got box this evening. I should have it posted again in a day or two with some new items too. Thanks.
