Sorry...I meant to my FFL dealer. They ship free. Then I just had the $10 background check. So it was $409, to my hands including background check.

A Beretta 90 TWO .40 cal. (You didn't think I was talking about a baby, did you?) I'm a Beretta fan & had heard good things about Bud's so I gave them a try. Quickly found a deal on some police traded 90 two's. I was a little nervous about the order, but was extremely pleased when it arrived in near mint condition. The finish is about 99% and the bore is clean and shiny. (The photos don't do it justice. Uneven spots are due to my camera & lighting, not blemishes) This was a police trade in, but was super clean & looked new. It even included the Beretta case, two mags, & Trijicon night sights. Did I mention bought & shipped for under $400 & I had the gun in my hands less than 24 hours after they recieved my payment! I wanted to share this because I know a few others are thinking about ordering and might be hesitant. Can't speak for all, but I had a great experience with Bud's. >>Beretta USA was having a big sale, so I just added two high capacity, 'Special Duty' .40 mags and a rail cover.

Post it up for sale and put that money toward the pistol that's right for you. Your XD should be an easy sell. They're one of the most popular pistols right now & great quality. Soooo...umm...how much?

FART...then just walk away!! You can claim it was just a misfire.

Yeah, but I've never shot one. I think Stoeger is talking about releasing a mini Cougar, but I'm not sure. I'm considering another Cougar. A local gun shop has a Beretta 9mm and a Beretta .40 cal for $300 each, but both are "D" versions and don't have a hammer spur. After feeling how well the .45 shoots, I don't know if I need a smaller caliber. (Plus, if I come home with another gun, my wife may want me to sleep in the car) I've already brought two pistols home in the past week.

I appreciate the kind words. This is the first target I've ever grouped like this at a distace. I've been working on my stance & grip and think I've finally found it.

Hey...that's what smiley faces are for, Broomhead. I loves me a good smiley face! By the way, I hope your surgery went well and you're having a smooth recovery.

24 quick rounds from 20 yards from my Beretta Cougar at the range tonight. Now, I'm the first to admit, a hundred guys out there can shoot better groups, so no BS comments about the strays, please. A little more practice to get centered up, but this was pretty good for me. This was my first range visit since summer (almost an hour drive each way) and only the second time this year to bring out my .45 Cougar. I love this pistol!

Opinions about the Sub Compact PX4 & Springfield XDM
luvmyberetta replied to luvmyberetta's topic in Handguns
Guess I'll have to wait a few weeks to try them out before ordering one or the other. One one side I like the exposed hammer on the PX4 & it felt very comfortable in my hands. The XDM is no doubt a quality pistol, but the handle is bit short & felt a little awkward in my hands, and using the grip extension pretty much kills the whole reason for having a subcompact. I'm a big guy and have no problem hiding my SR9 on a shoulder holster, but I am looking for more of a back up or a need to conceal situation, pistol. Bud's has both pistols shipped for well under $500 (the XDM is actually about $50 less). Thanks. -
You could probably do a few layers, but I've not tried more than two. Worst case your out a few bucks on an inner tube. The hairspray makes the rubber just slick enough to slip over each other, but dries quickly. You can also try using bike handle bar tape wrap and then slip the inner tube over that. It could get you some thickness and a padded grip.

I've heard others talking about making your own grip sleeves out of bicycle tire inner tubes and decided to give it a try. It actually works very well, as long as your not trying to increase the size of your pistol grip. You can slip one inner tube piece over another and get a thicker grip. A $4.00 tube makes about 10-15 grips depending on the length tube you get. OK. Here's where the hairspray comes in. I used to work at a mountain bike shop years ago and often had to install thick or soft rubber handlebar grips, but they were notorious for slipping at the worst possible times. We learned if you spray a little hairspray on the handlebars before installing them they would stay put, no matter the abuse. I decided to try the same thing here. I cut and trim the inner tube to shape, sprayed a little hairspray on my pistol grip, and slipped the new rubber grip in place. Let it dry and you've got a good rubber grip that won't slip on you. The grip actually has a very good feel to it and only cost me about .50 cents when said and done.

Awesome! I'm glad you got it worked out. Did you have to have to remove much material to get your trigger limit set? The instructions on their site said you may have to shoot it each time you remove material for the trigger limit to make sure it resets properly. Does that mean no more annoying drop at the end of your trigger pull? Let me know what your pull got reduced to kieefer. You've been patient and sounds like its paid off.

A lot of people role their eyes when you say Hi-Point, but I've never heard owners talk about quality issues. They seem to be reliable and owners say they shoot pretty well. About the only complaints I hear is that they're -fugly, -top heavy, -bulky. I've never shot one, but I've held a few & they do feel like they have a brick on top of the slide, but I've not heard of any real problems with the brand. I think the main thing that stopped me from getting one was that it simply didn't feel comfortable in my hands. It was a little top heavy...and bulky...and kind of fugly.

Beretta Cougar 8045F, full size & I still have it. It's a great shooter!

I have a few full size pistols and am considering getting a more concealable pistol & I've never shot a sub compact before. I've looked at a lot of different ones and the only two that felt comfortable in my hands were the Beretta PX4 and Springfield XDM. I know both are excellent quality pistols so thats not an issue. The PX4 with it's spring loaded pinkie grip felt the best in my hands & it's a bit smaller, but holding in a store and shooting are two different things. It's going to be a while before I can actually test fire one and was wondering if anyone has actually shot the PX4 or XDM and what caliber? What's your opinion of them?

+1. My dad was run over by a drunk driver right in front of me back in 1997 and spent 10 days in intensive care at UT Med Center & then a year in physical therapy. He has permanent memory loss, only one kidney, and permanent back problems thanks to a drunk driver. She was 3X the legal limit and had cocain in her system. She only spent 4 hours in jail & 2 years probation and caused my dad a lifetime of problems & pain. By the way...she also ran over & killed a guy about 25 years ago while intoxicated & just got a slap on the wrist! Last I heard she had cleaned up and is sober. This is the reason I have strong feelings on the subject, but am glad others stopped before it was too late.

Stock pull on that pistol should be about 8 lbs. (before polishing) Hopefully you'll get great results with the Tactical. So far doesn't sound like Ghost is up to par. Guess we'll have to wait and see. Thanks for the update, kieefer.

Thanks. I hope to try it out soon. I've heard a few negative things about barrel steel hardness in the first production models, but most things I hear are positive. (You can always find some good and bad in every gun made) Now all I need is to find some 15 round mags for it and go to the range.
-
I never thought about that. I've got the outside all clean and shiny, but haven't pulled it completely apart yet. Thanks for the suggestion.

My Viridian is laser only. They have dedicated and universal models with both a light & laser, though. I used the 50% off coupon on mine too. Many people don't like green lasers because some brands have a reputation of failing in cold weather, but the Viridian isn't one of those cheap "gun show specials" you see so often. Mine has never failed to work. There's a reason they aren't cheap.
-
When I do it's usually with my shoulder holster. I love my Fobus because I can leave the laser or light attached, but have to wear a long shirt or jacket or it draws attention. I know open carry is ok, but some people freak out when they see a pistol...especially these days! :panic:

I was in a local pawn shop today, owned by a friend of mine when he showed me what I believe was a good bargain...& I nearly always miss out on bargains. He just sat out a P95DC Ruger manufacture dated 1997, new in the box & never fired. It came from the family of a man who had purchased lots of guns and put them away to collect and recently passed away! It needs cleaned because the factory grease is a little thick, but is otherwise in perfect condition. I've only shot one P95 before and always wanted one since. Finally got to bring one home today. I took these photos when I got back this evening. Hope she turns out to be a good one.

Man, kieefer. That guide rod looks good on yours. I may have to get one soon for mine. I think it will look pretty good with the black slide too. So far the Viridian's the only upgrade I've made. Mag extensions may come after that.
