When we took our permit class, the day before we went to the range the instructor told us not to wear sandals or low cut tee shirts because of hot brass. I guess that's one of those things you never consider unless it's happened.

I would contact La Rosa Designs with a copy of the Ebay ad & a picture of what you recieved if you don't get anywhere with paypal. You never know. They make work with you since a vendor of there's is selling 2nd grade items. I checked out their site and looks like they've got good stuff. The seat advertised sells for $229.99 on La Rosa's site. Obviously you got something different. Looks to me like the seller bought a plain seat from them and tried to add the design himself. From looking at the sellers feedback, there's not a chance I would have bought an item from him. He's had a lot of negative feedback for selling bad La Rosa items that don't match the description. I hope things work out for you, though.

What's his ebay user name...so we can all avoid him?

Most Sigs aren't polished beauty queens, but they are some of the most reliable pistols out there. I recently got a P229 in .40 S&W and it's probably one of the best shooting pistols I've ever handled. There's a real reason the Navy Seals adopted a Sig as one of their official firearms. They're built like a tank. I've never heard anything negative about Sig.

I finally got to take the SIG Sauer .40 out for a test today. Wow...what an incredible shooting pistol! I may have to change my user name. I made the right choice picking the P229. I didn't do a very scientific test. I just set up a couple of cans and plastic bottles, upside down on the tops of some small shrubs. I used Remington UMC .40 S&W 180 gr FMJ for my test shots. I measured off 30 feet, loaded the 12 round mags, and took my first shot. Dead center through the Coke can. There was almost no recoil and super smooth action. I rushed my second shot before the can quit swaying and missed. My next 10 shots went through the middle of the can and ended up splitting it in two. I had two more 12 round mags and did some quick switching between three hanging bottles and hit them with all 24 shots. I even took several shots unholstering and quickly aquiring target & to my own amazment, hit them all dead center. This may be my new favorite pistol! I'll have to discuss it with my Beretta Cougar, though. The Sig Sauer P229 is everything I've heard and more. It's well balanced, has little to no recoil, & is deadly accurate.

I only own a few pistols right now, but what I have are all pretty good quality. All my Berettas & my SR9 are great shooters, but I'm most accurate with my .45 Beretta Cougar & it's probably my favorite of the group. I just picked up a SIG P229 & can't wait to see how it stands up to it, though. I know they're suppost to be top notch shooters & tougher than nails.

SIG Sauer P229, Ruger SR9, Beretta Cougar, PX4, 90-Two

Thanks. It was between the SIG P229 or a Walther P99. I don't think either would have been a bad choice, but SIG just seemed to have a slightly better track record & I liked the idea of having another full metal pistol. Unless I have a breakdown, I plan to keep this one, but you know how it is with us gun collectors... There's alway another one to drool over eventually.

I've always wanted a SIG & found a deal on a lightly used P229 in .40 caliber & picked it up on a trade. It came with three 12 round ext. mags & night sights. I think this ones a keeper. I've got a set of Hogue grips & a .357 SIG barrel conversion on the way.

Finally Bought My First Revolver Today
luvmyberetta replied to luvmyberetta's topic in Show and Tell
I finally got to shoot it. Recoil wasn't as bad as I figured it would be. It was pretty stout, but that long barrel really tames it. I was hitting 6" targets, open site from 50 yards my first few shots so I know it was accurate. (More accurate than me.) I just traded it today for a SIG P229 .40 caliber. The Ruger was nice, but I never get to hunt and is was impractical for me. I appreciate the input though. I haven't given up yet...I'll try another revolver one of these days. -

Nothing wrong it at all. The Ruger's like new, but I just can't seem to enjoy revolvers like I do semi-autos. It's a great shooter, but not practical for me. I'd have more fun with a good semi-auto. -

Sorry...brain fart. I just added info. I'd love to see everyone elses too. -
What's everybody's favorites as far as knives go? I have several favorites to collect (SOG & Camillus of course), & many I can't afford or find. I have several more boxes, but here's a few of my favorites. Some have sentimental value & some are just cool. Feel free to post pics of yours. Could be fun. I'm getting pretty good now at fully disassembling some of my pistols and have done some custom trigger work to a couple and would like a recommendation for a good quality digital trigger gauge. Has anyone used the Lyman digital gauge? Any other recommendations for an accurate trigger weight gauge? Thanks.

Finally Bought My First Revolver Today

I've not had a chance to shoot it yet, but I'm dying too. How's the recoil compared to a .480, .454, or .45 LC? Anybody shot them to compare? -

Ouch...you just had to go there didn't you? Hey...aren't there times we all wish we had a bigger barrel? -
Me and revolvers never got along to well in the past due to grip issues, but I found one today I had to bring home. A Ruger Super Redhawk in .44 magnum with a 9 1/2" barrel. Due to the foul weather I didn't get to try her out today, but I've got a box of ammo ready and waiting for the sun to come out.

It may be a little overkill, but...

I'm not going to try to say Glocks aren't good quality; they just aren't for me. We all know they have a good rep. & are well made, but certainly aren't the best out there. SR9's, XD's, XDM's, & Berettas have a much better grip feel in my hands. The quality & reliability of SR9s, Berettas, & Springfields are definetely up to par with Glock. It's just a matter of preference. Any one of these pistols will be a good choice if it feels good in your hands. A Springfield is next on my "to buy" list. I'm keeping a close watch on those classifieds.

Are there still two boxes or one now? Just wanting an update.

If opinion counts, may I suggest a PX4, Cougar, SR9, or XD. All of these are excellent quality pistols & can be relied on when it counts. It comes down to a matter of shooting preference, caliber, & size. Try out as many pistols as you can & see what you are most comfortable with. I've always preferred Berettas for quality and feel. They've proven to be very reliable & never wear out. Just my

I went to the Expo today hoping to get a good close look at a SR1911. Only one vender had a SR1911 and he only brought ONE. Needless to say, it sold about 5 minutes after the doors opened. On a side note; I stopped at a gun shop on my way to Knoxville to buy my hunting license & asked them about the SR1911. They said it wasn't in production & was only a rumor started by Ruger.....ok?!? Several venders at the Expo today, said they hadn't heard of it either. I figured venders would be all over the new Ruger, but maybe not...maybe next month at Chilhowee.

I don't have the Bullpup anymore. Traded for a semi-auto pistol & laser combo.

PM sent. Yeah. There's not a chance I'm gonna order it locally. I would like to support local business, but it's becoming impossible to buy locally because of prices and poor service. I'll gladly make the 1 1/2 hour drive to Knoxville.
