I can even slap the Elite slide on one of my other frames if I'm in the mood to mount a light & go tactical...

Nice Elite "DMark"! Speed bump triggers occassionally (rarely) pop up for sale on the Beretta forum & are usually pretty expensive. I couldn't get my hands on one so I went with a short reach trigger along with a D spring and trigger/hammer/sear polish job on my 90-Two. It's got one of the best triggers I've ever felt on a pistol. After about 1,000 dry fires, my DA pull averages 6.5lbs and SA is 3.5lbs with zero overtravel. Since I got such good results on my "dash", I plan to do the same thing on the Elite. I just ordered an adjustable rear site for it. Now I need another short trigger & D spring & I'll be in business. There's also a barrel bushing offered that improves accuracy, but it requires barrel modification and is about half the cost of the pistol. If I ever shoot competition I may go that route, but for now I'll stick to lower cost upgrades. If a speed bump pops up for sale again I may have to try one out. There are endless possibilities with Berettas & they have a lot of performance potential. Thanks for the info.

No. It's still a DA/SA pistol like the "F" models. The "G" means it has a decocker only instead of a true on/off safety, so the safety lever always pops back up into the ready to fire position. No on/off to have to fumble with. It's always ready to rock. It's the same as SIGs, if you're familiar with them.

Like the title says, I just picked up a Beretta 92 Brigadier Elite from member "phil357" and he's a good guy to deal with. It's in excellent condition and has a very hefty & solid feel. I haven't had a chance to take it to the range yet, but I can't wait. If it's typical of my other Berettas, it'll be a smooth shooter.

If you could only go to one gun show this year .....
luvmyberetta replied to a topic in Events and Gatherings
+1 on that...I've found some good deals on mags, Surefire lights, & accessories. I've done some trading/buying from some private sellers and went home happy, but I've never found a good deal on a gun from the regular show dealers. I haven't tried CDNN yet, but I just ordered a Beretta pistol from Bud's today so I'll probably skip the Chilhowee show this wekend...especially considering it's an 80 mile drive each way. -
Follow Up Info about Chillowee Park Gun show
luvmyberetta replied to sschrick's topic in Events and Gatherings
+1...That's why they have a no loaded gun policy at the shows. This goes to show what happens when someone gets careless. -
I haven't seen any ads for it. Are they still having the Chilhowee Show at the Jacobs Building this weekend? Is anyone planning to attend? I went to it back in November and actually found a few deals & met some cool people.

Wow! Some people just look for things to gripe about don't they? I was done before most of the other guys on the line. I shot a group like that because I'm a good shot with my pistol.

Here's the target from my HCP range qualification. Some of the other students were giving me some grief because I brought my .45 instead of a .22 or .38 like everyone else. I told them that I wasn't going to use a .22 for personal defense and this was going to be my carry pistol. They got quiet when they saw me qualify and a few wanted to see what kind of pistol I was using so they could find one. This picture was taken at the shooting range during qualifying. This is 48 rounds out of my Beretta Cougar 8045. As soon as I was done shooting the instructor called a range "cease fire" and took my target down for pictures. I passed top in my class.

I agree. To early just starts a bidding war & raises the price that much more. I never bid until the end, sometimes 4 or 5 seconds before the auction end. I've got a lot of stuff cheap that way. I had a Holley carb for sale on ebay once. It set there for a week with only one bid & I thought "Oh, great. I'm gonna lose my butt on this thing." Then in the last 30 seconds it got about 15 bids and the race was on!

How would that robbery have gone down? "Hand over the Harry Potter, Hall Pass, & the Jackass dvd's and no one gets hurt."

He said he measured and inspected it, but couldn't figure it out the problem. I love the way they look, but guess factory will do. I wanted some for my Berettas too, but not now. It's not important to some, but I like to keep my pistols in good condition...3,000 rounds & my OD SR9 got its first scratch from a stainless guide rod!
-
I tried out a Bedair stainless guide rod with terrible results! I installed it and it caused the spring to bind up so badly I couldn't even rack the slide without the rod jumping out of it's slot & gauging into the front of the slide. It wouldn't stay in place no matter what I tried. I never even got to shoot it with it installed. I returned it for a refund and bought a new guide rod assembly from Ruger. Now my SR9 works perfectly again.

The XD's a better pistol than the P250. If you're gonna trade, a P220, P226, or P229 are more top of the line & would be a better way to go. SIG's are awesome pistols, but if you've got your heart set on getting the P250 I'd ask for cash to boot.
-
I've narrowed down the two pistols I'm most accurate with. My two favorites are the Beretta Cougar .45 & SIG Sauer P229 .40 & as you can see they are almost identical in size too. I'm a good shot with all my pistols, but these two just seem to suit me best. I just added a Hogue grip to the SIG and it feels better than ever. I'm on the lookout for a .357 Sig barrel for the P229 to try out next.

For the test, shoot whatever you're most comfortable with. Most of the people in my class were using one of the instructor's .22's to save money on ammo, because they had never touched a gun before, or because they didn't own a pistol. I chose to use my .45 Cougar because that is my primary carry pistol. I got a perfect score too.

8rnd mags not working in 1911?
luvmyberetta replied to Backon4's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
They weren't high dollar mags, but I used to use Shooting Star 8 rounders along side the factory Colts in mine and never had an issue. Have you checked to see if it might be the lips at the top of the mag. I've seen some that had to be bent inward or out slightly to keep the shells angled correctly. Just a thought. -

I think it happens because a lot of people aren't intimidated by .22's & get careless. Too many people don't look at a .22 as a dangerous round. ANY & ALL guns should be handled with care and respect. -
I don't think you'll ever have to worry about wearing it out, although there's nothing wrong with getting another one. These are well made NATO certified platforms and are known to shoot tens of thousand of rounds. I've got a full size SR9 with well over 3,000 rounds without a single issue of any kind. The more they're shot, the better they feel. SR9's are great pistols.

Dumbasses don't need alcohol to act that way...it just comes naturally! It's a shame he died, but better him than an inoccent bystander. He proved that some people aren't responsible enough to own firearms. -
These days, you mostly hear talk about AR's & polymer pistols (which I enjoy too), but I'll always love the old style lever guns & real wood stocks. I figured I'd put up a couple of pictures of my two Marlins. I got the 39A Golden Boy from my brother, who bought it brand new around 1980. I bought my 336C last fall & plan to give the deer a run for their money this year with it. Who else loves levers?

For some reason it double posted. Oh, well................

You can use iodine for water purification too. In Boy Scouts, years ago, we have used both methods during survival training for drinking and dish washing.
