  1. IMO the meth addict should have recieved a long luxurious ride in a hearse instead of an ambulance. Statistics show that approx. 98% of meth addicts don't kick the habit & usually wind up dead or disabled! How long do you think it will be before he recovers & does this again?
  2. Catfish are bottom dwellers. Try fishing with bloody chicken livers with sinkers. You'll start catching catfish by the bucket full, if they're there.
  3. I would suggest buying a Boy Scout handbook & checking out some of their field & survival books. There are other books on the market, but those are a good starting point. They don't have everything, but are full of great information, like which plants to stay away from. I once took a survival class when I was in Boy Scouts, but need a refresher course since it's been over a decade. I do remember eating "cattail" roots, berries, and making tea from wild tea berry leaves on a couple of outings with my dad when I was a teenager. He was a Boy Scout leader for several years and knows a lot about edible and non edible plants. He grew up in the mountains in a large and poor family and they had to know how to get extra food & hunt or go hungry sometimes.
  4. I looked them up. Sounds interesting...in kind of a wierd way. I may have to swing by there next time I'm heading through, just because I saw it here. They have a shooting range and they even sell live chickens. Oh, yeah! Moving targets... Here's what they posted on their website. "Mixon’s Emporium is the ultimate shooting and shopping destination in Fentress County Tennessee. Our outdoor shooting facility has five 25 yard lanes which offer the ability to practice with your pistol on steel targets or to sit down and sight in your rifle on paper. We also offer you the most complete selection of quality new children's clothing, defensive firearms, reloading supplies, live plants, seeds, eggs and chickens to be found in Fentress County. Count on us for exceptional quality, unequaled value and personal service."
  5. Actually saw some good gun deals, but had to keep reminding myself that I couldn't bring home any guns today. (Dang bills!) My dad sold his SR9c and brought home with a really nice Springfield XD Tactical pistol. I met up with a forum member on the way to the show & sold my Beretta 96, but only bought a few accessories this trip. I was looking for mags & have always found good deals in the past, but they seemed to be selling higher at this show than usual so no mags today. Maybe I'll have better luck at one of the upcoming Expo shows.
  6. Um...I have to disagree. We have a Walmart here in Oneida... Never mind. That sucks too! Other than the Big South Fork, meth labs, & a county full of crooked officials, there's not much of anything around here. We're moving the heck outta here as soon as my wife gets out of college! It's funny, but every time I have an item for sale I get about 50 messages that say "You're from where? Is that near Nashville?"
  7. I don't think this would be an issue since it's more of a recoil pad than a stock extender. The ATF probably wouldn't look twice at it unless it was an obvious attempt to make the gun a lot longer. I've seen rubber shogun recoil pads as thick as the one he's using. You never know what you'll see next when it comes to the mind of a "good ole' boy". As for the vertical foregrip...that's probably not such a good idea & I believe is illegal on a "pistol".
  8. I know it's not a cat picture, but here are a couple pictures of the best friend our family ever had. He was only 5 weeks old when I got him back in 1993 & I was still in high school. Scrappy was 17 years old & when we lost him last year to kidney failure.
  9. In my experience Bersa brand are the only ones that are consistantly reliable, but before you trash the Promags you might try giving them a good cleaning inside & replacing the springs with Bersa brand springs. I just ordered several to rebuild some old Bersa mags I picked up & they're only $1 each off Bersa's website. Also take the follower out and see if it has any burrs that need to be buffed off. That's a common problem. If you find a deal on any, I would definetely grab some factory Bersa mags.
  10. I agree they're very funny, even though I don't like cats.
  11. As a few of you know I'm addicted to Berettas & have been on the lookout for an Inox (stainless) model Beretta 92FS in my price range for years without any luck. I spotted this one a few days ago and had to grab it! She's a beauty & in new condition with all stainless controls & included the factory hard case, two 15 round mags, and a set of walnut grips with Beretta emblems. I took the walnut grips off and replaced them with a set of aluminum grips, but may put them on another pistol.
  12. The seller's dropping the price by $1,000 a month. Hey, I just realized. If I play my cards right, in just 16 1/2 more months I can afford it! Keep positive, Jeff.
  13. Remember that they're getting paid by sponsors to make all guns look good & sound interesting to readers & buyers. In the past I've seen negative reviews of a pistol get turned around by the writer to try to make a bad pistol sound good, for sake of the article & to keep money rolling in from advertisers. I think the XDs would be worth reading about, especially sonsidering I'm in the market for a compact SD pistol. Even though I tend to lean more toward full size, a lot of guys would like to see some more compact defense pistols out there...plus not all of us like Glocks.
  14. I carry a .45 Beretta Cougar in a pancake holster without any problems at all. It's really comfortable, holds tight against my body, and doesn't wiggle or move at all. I've found that pancake holsters are the most comfortable for me when carring full size pistols.
  15. Have you seen this one yet... http://www.staged.com/video?v=Sfmc The American flag with Obama's face instead of a field of stripes being flown at a Dem. Headquarters.
  16. I guess the owner will have to learn some rain dances. Why does it seem like ANY & ALL govt. officials are morons?
  17. Thanks for the responses. I knew open carry was legal, but like you, I prefer to carry concealed. Don't want to spook the sheep!
  18. I live just a few miles from the KY state line & I've been told my HCP is valid in KY, but I wanted to confirm. Does that mean I can lawfully carry concealed in KY or do I still have to open carry only since I don't have a KY, CC permit? Thanks.
  19. Obviously, gun shops are in business to make profit from trades...otherwise they'd be out of business. You'll probably get $50-$100 more by selling it to a private individual than you would trading at a store.
  20. Just picked up some aluminum Beretta grips for it today.
  21. I know what you mean. I'm lost when it comes to Glock's numbering system, but I've never owned one. It's too bad Beretta never designed a .45 acp version of the 92 series. It would be nice to have one in each caliber.
  22. That's funny & sad at the same time! Reminds me of a hardware store where I used to work. The manager would order in those little American flags on sticks by the case for Memorial day. They all had tags on them that read "Made in China"... Yep. Nothing says Memorial day quite like an American flag made in China! It always bugged the heck out of me!
  23. Sorry. I left that part out. It's .40 s&w. I already have a 92G Elite & this was the perfect addition. * Beretta 92 = 9mm * Beretta 96 = .40
  24. As some of you have noticed, I'm completely addicted to Berettas. I love their beautiful lines, how easy they are to work on and customize, and the way they feel in my hand. Here's the nicest addition to my collection so far. A member on another forum posted a copy of an ad from an out of state dealer. The ad didn't specify new or used so I naturally expected used with mabe some scratches or wear, but it was priced so low I had to grab it. When I picked it up at the FFL, I was astounded to find a brand new 96G Elite waiting for me. At first I was worried that they might have sent me the wrong pistol & that I might have to send it back. Thank goodness this was one of those rare occassions when something turned out to be better than expected. The finish is flawless & untouched. She's not going anywhere! The Elite model was a limited production manufactured by Beretta for only three years ('99-'01) & are becoming rare. The Elite pistols are "G" models which means they have a decocker only instead of a safety & featured a skeletonized hammer, front slide serrations, a wider, stronger slide, beveled mag well, rubber mag base pads, & 4.7" stainless barrels.
