Mistake or Deliberate Lies?

Westboro plans to picket children's funerals
luvmyberetta replied to C.lunn's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
If Westboro decides to travel and protest at the children's funerals, the best thing the town can do is completely ignore them! Refuse them food, fuel, & motel services! Westboro came to my town once & this is what we did! A few years ago a car full of cheerleaders wrecked after a local high school football game & all of them burned to death. The nature of the wreck touched the heart of the entire community. Somehow it got the attention of Westboro church and they deemed that the cheerleaders died the way they did because they were "evil whores, hated by God" (quote from the church's website) & planned a protest march at their funerals & at the school. Sure enough Westboro church members made the trip all the way across the country to Scott County to make their protest, but after dozens of death threats from locals both the city & county police depts. & a few members of the TN highway patrol were called in just in case it turned violent. The church chickened out of showing up at the funerals, but did make a brief appearance at the high school. Apparently Westboro members decided that 1,000 pissed off residents (some of them armed with guns & baseball bats) weren't worth the risk because when they got to the school only four church members got out of their van. They held up picket signs for about five minutes, said a short (silent) prayer, got back in their van and headed back west. Westboro only cares about getting headlines and funding. Their "great protest" fizzled out once they got to my town & saw how outnumbered they were, plus they were refused service by every motel & gas station in the area & their stay wasn't a pleasant one. -
I guess buyer/seller panic is already happening! I was out browsing when I found out the local pawn shop my family has done business with for 30 years stopped pawning/buying pistols yesterday! He's still selling them, but said he won't accept any more until after January because he's recieving calls and emails from his suppliers about possible upcoming law changes. He said he's going to try to sell out as many guns as he can before accepting any more because it looks like Obama's going to make it more difficult to buy/sell firearms. WTF?!?

I guess you didn't read my whole post? All you say was "video games" & quit. Well, maybe you're right. In fact maybe the news got it wrong and they blamed the wrong kid. I bet the real killer planted the weapons on him & got away!

Charles Whitman was brought up in a violent, disfunctional home and was abused regularly by his father & was nearly killed by him once! Hmmm...I wonder if there could be a connection here?

There used to be an idiot that would drive through our neighborhood late (I mean 2-3 am) and would throw garbage, rev his engine, and do burnouts at the end of everyone's driveway that lived on the street. Well, a few handfuls of "caltrops" at the end of my driveway put a quick stop to his mid-night burnouts. I guess he got tired of replacing tires & got the point!

We also need to stop ignoring what effect violent games, violent cartoons, & shows kids watch today. I don't have cable or satellite at my house and I control what my two young boys watch & what games they play. While visting a friends house I was shocked at some of the gorey, violent movies they let their kids watch and the games they play all day. These are young kids, not teenagers. Their kids are absolute hellians too! You can't tell me there's not a connection to the way these kids act & what their parents let them watch and play. Using TV and video games as baby sitting devices only supports the behavior. Notice a pattern when people always say it's the quiet ones? That's because often they're the kids that get ignored by parents and picked on at school & hold it in until they snap. People & kids are becoming desensitized to violence & cruelty because they see it all day every day and it has an effect on them. It should be no surprise that some of them loose a sense of reality & pull a stunt like this.

I kinda have to agree with this. You're not on bi-polar meds are you? :screwy:

I don't have television (no cable or satellite) & have never seen fox so I didn't see the interview. I have no problem with interviewing a kindergardener (at least that might be first hand news). I'm watching NBC news live on the internet & what I was referring too are the reporters saying, well this happened, then saying no we were wrong, this is what really happened. Then twenty minutes later saying well we don't know, but we think something else happened. They need to backup and wait until official facts are known before they play gossip volleyball. Like another guy said, they would rather be first to make news than to be accurate.
-
I've been listening to NBC & I wish these guys would get some facts confirmed before going on air about it. So far they've said the shooter was 20 & now they're saying he was 24. They said his mother was one of the teachers he killed at the school and then they said one of his parents was found at home. Now they say they'renot sure. Then they said there was a second person involved. Now they say they were wrong about a second person. Now they're saying he carried two pistols & a rifle & had other guns in his vehicle. In between the announcements, they keep interviewing people pushing gun control. The media needs to slow down and quit gossiping until they get some facts straight. Right now about half of what NBC has announced has been hearsay, not facts. This is a tragic event and IMO needs to be handled in a more respectful manner by the media.

That's because the govt will spend money to protect their money, but not people. You know if schools don't have enough money for new books aren't going to get funding for extra security. It's such a shame & my prayers go to the families. I have two boys, ages 2 & 6 and my wife is going to college to become a middle school teacher. Some schools have considered allowing teachers to go through tactical training courses and having electronic safes for access to firearms in case of an emergency like this, but it's unlikely the govt will ever allow it. They would rather take guns from the hands of the law abiding citizens.

I like the water sprinkler and wate hose ideas! A lot of people around here use the deer cams to catch crooks & they do work. Even though it's annoying, you don't actually want to do anything to harm these trouble makers. A few years ago someone in our neighborhood was stealing gas from my dads work truck. After a few nights of it, my dad left a note inside the gas door that said, "I hope the gas was worth it because I'll be waiting for you one of these nights!" The next morning we found the note on the ground and their empty gas jug & hose halfway down our driveway. In this case the note worked because they never stole gas from us again.

9mm NATO is only rated 10% hotter than standard ammo. It should be no problem for your P95.

I'm assuming it has the standard black "bruniton" finish. In excellent condition with 6 factory Beretta brand mags & case etc., I would place it in the $450-$500 range. If it has promag, checkmate, airtronic, or unmarked mags, it would be worth less.
Out of all the reasons to vote for Obama, this one is the best.
You don't know his girlfriend...

Mother wants debt inherited from dead son's loans forgiven.
If each one of those people donated 5 cents, she would have the $10,000 to pay off the loan. Stuff pisses me off that people will go out of their way to spend everyone's money but their own
Better have everyone send 10 cents each. Remember that the govt will probably count it as income and then she'll owe Uncle Sam a share of it too. -
I know what you mean. My brother in law who is 20 yrs old, going on 12 told me he voted for O' because his girlfriend's mom and dad told him he had to since he was living under their roof & he was afraid his girlfriend wouldn't "put out" if he voted for Romney. Plus he's convinced that Obama is a big gun supporter! I don't care who he votes for, but what an idiotic reason for voting the way he did! By the way, he doesn't even know the name of our vice president! Is this a typical Dem. household?

When you co-sign, it's still a contract. One local bank I've delt with has a option to "insure" your loan. If you should die, the loan would be taken care of instead of your family inheriting the debt. This happened a few years ago when my uncle died of a heart attack &, thankfully since he took the extra loan insurance, his widow didn't have to worry about the loan on top of funeral arrangements & all the other things she had to deal with after loosing him. If you had a co-signer, the most they would have to pay would be the interest & not even that in many cases. -

Good one! -
Great story. These knives seem to have been bringing fathers & sons together for years. My dad gave me my 1981 edition Camillus when I joined Cub Scouts & I still have it. My son's almost scouting age & will probably end up with it too.

My brother recently ordered one from Gilbert's online and he loves everything about it. Gilbert's has them on sale right now brand new with one 12 round mag & a SIG brand laser for $399 shipped. Cool idea, but $130 each! No thanks! Why does everything that's "good" for the enviroment cost so freakin' much that I'll have to spend more $$ on gas and put out more polution driving an extra day to work just to pay for it. Doesn't make sense does it? If they really wanted to do something good for the enviroment, they would make it affordable enough to actually get used by people. I'll wait for the "get two for $19.95" infomercial version.

Maybe they're expecting people to hand out "bath salts" for Halloween instead of candy, bringing on the Zombie apocalypse!

Poll - On your carry gun; Safety or no Safety?
luvmyberetta replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
One in the chamber, hammer down, no safety. My SIG & most of my Berettas are DA/SA & are decocker only models & that what I prefer.
