  1. Prayers for anyone touched by this tragedy. A sad day, indeed.
  2. The past few years people don't seem to be happy unless they're miserable. They expect a trophy for getting out of bed in the morning & if they don't get it, they're gonna' hold a march to protest whatever "thing" someone on social media said they have to be upset about. It seemed to have started right around 2008 & progressively got worse over the next eight years. If you walk down the street without wearing a "MLK" or "black lives matter" shirt, you're being racist. If you don't "friend" someone online, you're being insensitive. If you're not "politically correct" enough, you're being offensive. What the hell is wrong with America these days?!
  3. +1. Unfortunately, the Stoeger Cougar has been discontinued just like the older Beretta version & parts are no longer being produced. Numrich, Brownell's, & a few other have limited parts available, but mags are getting really hard to locate. I picked up some all metal guide rod/recoil assemblies (before they switched to plastic guide rods), D springs, trigger springs, etc. for mine a few years ago for my parts box. I'll probably never shoot them enough to have to replace those parts, but it's better to have extras than not. Extra mags are a must.....
  4. I've owned several Beretta Cougars in 9 mm, .40, .45 & currently have a full size 8045 & 8000 Mini. The 8045 is my main choice for carry. I've never had a failure from any of them & they're all very smooth shooters. Parts are starting to dry up for the Cougar series, but they're extremely easy to work on & modify. Depending on the specific trade I wouldn't hesitate a minute to grab one. My only advice is to make sure you only use Beretta brand mags unless you want an expensive paper weight. Keep us informed & be sure to post some pics if you grab it.
  5. A few years ago I picked up this nickel plated model 83 for my wife. We love the look & feel of it & it has a nice heft, which helps a lot with the .380's snappiness. We haven't put many rounds through it at all so I can't speak either way of it's reliability, but they're easy to work on & you can replace every spring & most parts for a few dollars.
  6. I just finished a set of solar filters for my binoculars. My wife teaches high school special ed & is going to take them with her Monday for the class to use. I have a bunch of left over solar material I bought before the Venus transit a few years ago so I picked up some plumbing fittings & let my inner nerd flow. The look funny, but work really well. We're supposed to have .99 magnitude here so it looks like I won't get to witness or photograph the corona, but hopefully the weather will be clear enough to still see a good show.
  7. Did I see that right? At 2:00 min into the video a guy test drops the SIG two feet in front of him without any form of safety shield & it did go off! Crazy!
  8. My first one w/matching Viridian green laser.
  9. ... & stumbled across another gen. 2 olive drab/black Ruger SR9 in really nice condition. These had blackened stainless steel slides & were only made for a couple years in limited numbers. A couple days ago I installed a 3.5 lb. Ghost trigger reset bar & now the trigger is really sweet! Now I just need to get rid of the 10 rnd. communist magazines that came with it & pick up some 17 rounders.
  10. +1. The new style of classifieds seems to make more confusion than it should. I like the style of the advert threads, but like "Chucktshoes" said, the whole dual thread thing is a mess.
  11. Looks like she tried to beat the stupid out of him. Good for her.
  12. How about two Beretta Elites... ...or two Ruger SR9s?
  13. LMAO!!!
  14. Thanks guys. You've given some options to consider. Will the 1/4" inlet/outlets give me enough flow? Part of the reason I was considering the secondary tank was so I could run 3/8" or larger airline split to power two pair of air horns. I found a Viair regulator rated at 200 PSI with a 0-220 PSI gauge that may do the trick if 1/4" will give me enough flow. http://www.viaircorp.com/product/pressure-regulator/
  15. I'm just running two tanks. A 12 gallon & a 1 1/2 gallon. I was wondering if there was a special type of regulator that has to be used or will a standard tool regulator work. My local Tractor Supply has an adjustable Campbell Hausfeld air tool regulator for under $30. I may give it a try. I'm probably overthinking it, but I want to get it right the first time.
  16. I have a air ride project using two air tanks & I need to regulate the PSI in the second one. I'm running nitrogen now, but cylinders don't last long so I'm in the process of switching to compressors for better reliability. The first tank will control the air ride system. It's 12 gallons & will be kept at 180-200 PSI using two high output 12 volt compressors. That part of the system is no problem. Here's where I could use some advice. I have a small 1 1/2 gallon air tank I would like to "tie in" down stream & keep around 125 PSI to run two sets of air horns, tire filling, etc... & need an adjustable regulator that will automatically maintain the small tank's pressure when used. (The same way oxygen/gas regulators work.) Will a standard in line adjustable tool regulator available at Tractor Supply, Sears, or hardware store work or do I need something special? I'd really like to avoid having to spend big money on a third compressor for the 1 1/2 gallon tank. Thanks.
  17. Very nice herd of Rugers Zoidmeister.
  18. Thanks for the responses. Glad to hear some good reviews on the P89. Since I took the photos I've installed a trigger from a P95 & plan to try some Wolff springs to tune it a bit. I also polished the pivot points when I installed the P95 trigger & it's a lot smoother than when I first got it. When I get time I'll make a custom leather holster for it.
  19. Ebay & most gun shops sell them, but they run around $17 a piece. I bought two of the adapters from Cheaper Than Dirt last week. They were running a "$15 off any order" special the whole month of January so I ended up paying $13.00 including shipping for both of them. Be sure to check for sales before ordering. They run online coupons & promo codes all the time. I forgot to mention that I have a Beretta brand SRT installed in my compact, but am thinking of getting a Taurus trigger. I had a stainless Taurus trigger in a 92FS Inox I used to own. Taurus triggers shorten the trigger length just as much as a Beretta or Wilson SRT, but are available in stainless to match the inox finish. The Taurus has more of a curved shape than Beretta's SRT, though.
  20. I recently picked this one up on a trade. A Beretta M9A1 Compact L Inox. Mods include full inox controls, Elite II hammer, oversized mag release, solid stainless guide rod, front sight was drilled & red fiber optic installed, Novak rear sight, X-grip adapter w/18+1 Mec-Gar mag, Elite II barrel crown, short reach trigger, & I had the barrel shortened to fit flush with the slide.
  21. I was working for Sears at their West Town Mall, Knoxville location back in 2000 when they announced at the morning meeting that they were buying Kmart. All the employees thought it was a bad joke. Shortly after, Sears started selling a whole new line of "price friendly" tools. They were the same junk Kmart carried with a different package or label. It's been a downhill slide ever since. Kmart is having a ton of clearance sales in most of their stores & will shortly file bankruptcy & Sears may not be far behind.
  22. It's a terrible situation all around. The news just reported 11 confirmed dead. My prayers go out to all the families.
  23. We got a call today from a cousin who had a condo above Gatlinburg & lost everything in the fires. Everything was insured & will be replaced, but it looks like it will be a slow process, At our weekly Boy Scout meeting tonight, one of the mothers said they were about 75% into construction of a vacation house in the Gatlinburg area & just found out it burned to the ground today. The worst part is they had no insurance because inspections & construction wasn't complete yet.
