  1. There's no sure answer for every situation, but you can try to be as prepared as possible. Higher capacity is going to mean going a little larger too. I own several Berettas & have 9mm mags for them in 17, 18, & 20 round capacities. The 17 & 18 round mags fit flush & the 20 round mag only sticks down 1/2" below the grip so I could easily carry up to 40 rounds & only have to carry one extra mag. They make 30 round mags for my Berettas, but IMO in a SHTF situation I feel the extra length of the mag could pose some problems in a confined space.
  2. Thanks for the kind words & I appreciate the prayers. My brother hasn't been able to contact me directly, but I finally got word through my parents a while ago that he's fine. Between the shooting, lockdown, & traffic, it was several hours befor he made it home to be with his family & he called our parents & they relayed the good news to me. Apparently he was detained with other witnesses for questioning for a couple hours until they could get some of the chaos worked out. I've been gone most of the afternoon & haven't even seen the news since about noon today so I'm not caught up on all the events myself. My prayers go out to any victims & their families of this tragic shooting.
  3. My brother works there at the Navy Yard & I'm pulling my hair out trying to find out what the hell's going on! He made a brief call to my house earlier this morning letting us know that a man had entered & was shooting people, but had to get off the phone line. That's been a couple hours & there have been several people shot since then & now I can't get in touch with him to make sure he's okay. I don't know if he's among the injured or if he was evacuated! I'm stuck here at home & can't find out if he's alright or not!
  4. Tried to go, but low on funds & wasn't able to make it. I have a couple pistols I'd like to sale or trade on, but from what I hear the past few shows nobody's looking for anything but ammo & AR parts. Doesn't sound like anyone's trading on pistols at shows anymore. With the price of gas it's hard to make a 160 mile round trip just for lunch.
  5. The news just reported that It's not an asteroid after all. NASA spotted a big turd in orbit that was flushed out of the space station's toilet & it reminded them so much of Trayvon's mug shots that they're going to name it after him. It only seems fitting to have one POS named after another POS.
  6.   I understand what you're saying, but unfortunately ignorance of the law doesn't mean exemption from it. Cali's one messed up place to live with some vague or insane laws on their books.
  7. I'll try to be there for this one. Any word on if the shows are starting to improve or is it still just a fight over ARs & ammo? I miss the old days of going to gun shows & seeing tables of handguns, gear, & friendly people. I haven't been to a show since last November because of all the chaos. I've got a Beretta or two & maybe a USP 45 or SIG I may have to let go of or do some trading on. Hope to see you guys there.
  8.   Maybe Obama's hoping that if felons start getting jobs he can brag about lowering the unemployment rate...that is, until the stealing, raping, & killing starts. Then he'll just blame "white America". Way to go voters!
  9. I love SOG knives. I've carried a SOG Twitch II for several years & it's one of my favorite daily carry knives. http://www.sogknives.com/twitch-ii.html
  10.   +1. Compare an eary manufactured Nano next to a new one. They changed the side design on them too.
  11. Hell...he doesn't know his day from night anyway!
  12.   Wow! I didn't know "cracker" meant  :cop: (sarcasm alert).  It's just been brought to my attention by another expert witness that the "N" word is urban slang for "zombie" so Zimmerman must have thought he was tracking a zombie.
  13. Maybe someone told her to keep it lubed up at all times & she just got mixed up.
  14.   They did it after the Rodney King beating videos went public. I remember seeing them rioting, looting, & beating people in the streets on TV. They also threatened to do the same thing if O.J. Siompson was found guilty during his murder trial. It would seem that parts of this country has people that haven't fully evolved yet.
  15. Forgive my ignorance of models, but I'm a pistol guy. What kind of rifle is it?
  16. Don't send it back yet. The Nano needs a break in period of about 200 rounds & Beretta suggests using SD or +p for the break in. Is there a chance this an early production Nano? Beretta had some guide rod/spring problems with some of the early production models, but I think Beretta provides the new guide rods/springs for free. They also changed the design of the slide/barrel a few months into production because of issues. A lot of guys had some problems during the initial break in period, but that was usually with standard or under powered ammo. After 150-200 rounds most never had any more issues. Keep in mind that the Nano is over built & was originally designed around the .40 s&w round & it craves SD & +p ammo. Hopefully Beretta will kick it in gear & release it in .40 s&w soon.   Here's a video from Beretta showing the 1,000+ round Nano test with a dry, unlubed pistol with +p ammunition. In the video he also explains what ammo he used for the test & that 200 rounds of SD ammo is suggested for proper break in. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=xOsIr3xsv2w
  17.   I opt for the 3 second rule...let me know 3 seconds before you fart so everyone can roll down a window.   The main rule for me is NO SMOKING in my vehicles. I don't even like smokers to ride in my vehicle because smokers smell like ash trays all the time.
  18. You could always have him take it to an FFL to hold it for shipping. You can then contact the FFL them to varify everything's authentic. I once did a deal like this. His FFL faxed a copy of their license to my FFL. When it was varified that they were indeed a real FFL gun shop & had the gun in hand I sent payment & recieved my pistol a few days later at my FFL. The most important part is to use a protected payment method like USPS MO & send payment with tracking & require a signature. If he's willing to do this you might be safe, but if he's reluctant then I would walk away. While scams do happen, I've been careful & have had no problems. I've bought as many firearms from out of state/online sellers as I have FTF.
  19.   An incident like this had not happened or at least wasn't known about until this happened. All leaders & volunteers that participate in troop functions must pass a criminal background check so people never considered he would do something like this. He admitted being gay only after he was arrested. This was the first big blemish on the reputation of the BSA & many of their safety rules were rewritten after this.
  20.   OK. Here's an example. About 20 years ago at a Spring Camporee where over 1,500 Boy Scouts from all areas of the state & out of state were in attendance, a young Boy Scout from another troop was molested by a gay Scout leader. This happened at Bandy Creek Camp Grounds in the Big South Fork. I was there that weekend & didn't learn what had happened until a few days later at a meeting. Be assured that boy was affected for the rest of his life in one way or another. This is one of the reasons gay leaders are not tolerated in the BSA.
  21.   Oviously you're either gay yourself & have a problem with my opinion or you just enjoy being a troll. So far you've turned every word I've said around without even reading my earlier posts.
  22.   Because 99% of religions consider homosexuality immoral. By the way, the BSA is a private organization & no one is required to join.
  23.   IMO that was a very ignorant response. The BSA doesn't tell you what religion or what God you must follow, but they do ask that you believe in God. As far as "...curses, drinks, looks at porno", & the rest.... if you follow the laws of Scouting & are "morally straight" you probably don't do those anyway & even if you do, they would be prohibited in front of the kids & on all Scouting functions. You obviously have no clue as to what it takes to lead a youth group & what the BSA truely stands for. It's not about being a bunch of saints, but leading by example. No one is perfect & shouldn't try to be. The BSA is about building character.
