  1.   +1. These will certainly make practicing with SD ammo more affordable. You can use these for practice & save the bonded ones for carry.
  2.   Those Dem. presidents make the whole world a crazy place when they're in office.   The full size & the mini Cougar both use the same slide & 3.6" barrel. The only difference is the length of the grip. The magazines, slides, & barrels are interchangable so you can own one pistol & shoot multiple calibers as long as you have the uppers/barrels for it (except the .45, which is a bit larger). The 8000 mini holds 15 rounds with the full length mag & 10 rounds with the mini mag inserted. The advantages over the 92 series was the Cougar was available in 9mm, .357, .40, & .45 & it's more compact. The rotating barrel lowers recoil forces making them shoot even smoother than the larger 92/96 models. The grips are more ergonomic to me than the 92 models. IMO the Cougars are the most fun to shoot of the Beretta pistols.
  3.   Thanks. IMHO the Cougars are better shooters than the 92/96 models, but I like them all. Last year I traded a mint 92SB for a brand new SIG P220c. Those old blued Berettas really have some character. Maybe I'll find another one someday.
  4. Earlier this week I brought home another Beretta. This time it was a like new 8000F Mini Cougar with a 1997 date code. It appears to have been barely fired, if any at all. It had a good coating of dust inside & out & when I took it apart to clean & lube it, I didn't even get a Q-tip worth of carbon. This is a clean pistol & the bore is slick & shiny. I have plans to add a Cougar D model spring to lighten the trigger pull, perform a "G" conversion (turns safety into a decoker only), & then feed it a generous supply of +P. There's just something about a Beretta.
  5. Thank you for posting this. I ordered four boxes & they arrived yesterday by FedEx. I'm not a SG member & I got them for $12.75 per box & that's including shipping & the .99 cent delivery insurance I opted for. These sell for double that price around here. I'm ordering more! Here's what I got....
  6.   The cheerleaders were from Scott High School & the protest took place outside the gate at the school in Huntsville. Those morons drove all the way across the country & spent about five whole minutes "protesting" (which was actually a silent prayer) & then went back home. It was a huge waste of time & showed they obviously just wanted to get attention & almost got a lynching. IMO these vultures serve no purpose, but to do the devil's work.
  7.   This was exactly my first thought when I heard the news. I was there when some of his "followers" came to my town a few years ago to protest because five local high school cheerleaders burned to death in a car crash. For more than a week before the protest, Westboro made dozens of online posts about how the teenage girls were all burning in hell for being "sluts & whores" trying to get media attention along with making people angry. About 250 pissed off citizens (some of them armed & carrying bats) showed up. Our county sheriff already had S.W.A.T. & members of the TN Highway Patrol on hand because of the huge number of death threats posted toward the Westboro church members. The terrified Westboro church members got out of their van, formed a circle & said a short quiet prayer & then quickly got back into their van & drove straight out of town. I can only hope his cult quickly follows him into oblivion. Good riddance!
  8. Sir, put your hands up & step away from the tattoo!
  9.   Bud's online savings are (were) a lot more than a "few bucks". I saved over $400 on the last two pistols I ordered from Bud's & that's including the transfer fee & BGC. That's enought to buy a 4th pistol or a crap load of ammo. I've traded some locally & at shows, but as far as purchasing goes, I've bought more pistols online than from GS & private sellers because that's where the real deals were.   One positive thing I can say about Bud's is the appreciation they show for LEO & military. Bud's has a great LEO & military discount which will help a lot of guys save money.
  10. Coal Creek Armory installs sights, etc... They put a set of Trijicons on my pistol for $25.
  11.   Not going to happen. We're already taxed to death anyway. At least 75% of everything I buy comes from the internet & I do mean everything. Groceries & ammo are about the only thing I buy locally. Some sites charge tax & some don't. Everything is either too expensive locally or not available. I'm over an hour drive from any big town & if I want something I have to order it.   I've been to the shooting range at Bud's more than once & it's really nice. The Seviereville area would do great with a large indoor gun range & training facility, but I'm still not convinced it's really Bud's. I was at Smoky Mountain Knife Works yesterday & no one there has heard about it. I even spoke to the owner of The Gun Warehouse (Bud's) a few weeks ago while in Lexington & he said they have no plans of opening a second location anywhere. He might be keeping it secret for personal reasons, but it wouldn't make sense for him to be so secretive about it. I do know they have a contract with Smoky Mountain Knife Works to display & sell knives.
  12. I'll probably do mine through the mail. The nearest DMV to me is 1 1/2 hours away. A stamp vs $30-$40 in gas wins every time.
  13. Found this on Tulammo's website...   Technical description BrassMAXX 9×19 FMJ Bullet weight (grains) 115 Muzzle Velocity (fps) 1345 Energy (ft/lbs) 462 Looks like some hot stuff, which is a postive IMO. The round container of 9mm I bought says "made in Bosnia/Herzegovina" too.
  14. Has anyone used it & what did you think? I've always avoided steel cased Tula like a plague, but my local WM just got in a ton of 100 round boxes of 9mm Tula Brass Maxx for $23 & since they're sold out of everything else I picked up a box. Any positives or negatives? Thanks.
  15. I think this should be a lesson that the laws of the U.S. Constitution & the Amendments mean exactly squat to our bad president & liberal lawmakers. If they come across a law they don't agree with, their solution is to either add new laws to cancel out the existing ones or try to get the existing laws changed. I hope people keep this in mind in 2016.
  16.   +1. I like the part that says... "The Brunos had imbibed as well, but neither was drunk, Stephanie later told police." I guess this means that since he apparently wasn't drunk, he was just naturally a total douche?
  17.   Think of the article as a lesson in what NOT to do when you're drunk on the street & a cop grabs you.
  18. I don't know if everyone else is too old or if I'm too young, but I've only heard of about five of those movies.
  19. Be very careful of Armslist sales. I've bought lots of guns online before, but they were from legitimate sources. I won't even consider touching armslist myself. Have you placed a WTB thread here? You never know. One of our members here just might have your "unicorn".
  20. We've been through the same thing with our pets. First start off by washing all sheets, rugs, curtains, etc... If you don't already have one, get a good quality HEPA air filter for each room. You don't need the high dollar industrial ones either. They run about $20-$30 each for the small-medium sized ones. We have a small one in each bedroom & a larger one in the living room & they make a huge difference in the amount of dust in the air & on furniture & really help our breathing. You might also try a matress cover. Any dust mites left inside will die off & it will prevent new ones. A neat trick to keep pests off your dog is to wipe him/her with a dryer sheet. Good luck. Pets are people too.
  21. I've been using Ballistol CLP for more than 10 years and swear by it. I use it on all my guns, around the house, & it even keeps my car door's rubber seals from freezing up & sticking during the winter. It's also great for protecting leather holsters & boots. During WWII they even used it on cuts & scrapes & to kill lice. It's really handy stuff.
  22. "Preparing for elimination of that 4" blade length limit."   Are they trying to get the law changed? I haven't heard anything about it yet. Can anyone explain or have a link? Thanks.
  23.   +1. That's a common complaint about the standard 92FS/M9. A few models like the Brigadiers, Elites, & 90-Twos have removable front sights. I don't know of any companies that make fiber optic sights for the Cougar, but Trijicon & Meprolight make night sights for them. I used Glow Inc. V10 paint on my Cougar sights & have been happy with it's performance.
  24. Have you tried out a Beretta Cougar (now marketed & built in Beretta's Stoeger faciltiy in Turkey)? IMO they have better ergonomics than the 92 models & are more fun to shoot. They're still a metal gun with some heft, but are a bit more compact with slighty smaller grips. They're also available in 9mm, 357sig, .40 & .45 acp. 92FS & Beretta Cougar 8000 (9mm)
  25.   No. The factory spring is rated at about 24 lbs & the factory DA trigger pull is around 10-11 lbs. Installing a 18 or 19 lb spring should lower the trigger pull by about 3 lbs. You should be able to get a 7-8 lb DA pull. The SA pull will remain about the same, maybe 1/2 lb lighter. If you go with a lighter spring (16 or 17 lb) the trigger will improve even more, but you run the risk of light primer strikes which would be acceptable for a range toy, but not for SD. I'd also buy some snap caps, lube it up, & dry fire the crap out of it. The more you dry fire it the smoother most triggers become, plus you get a more familiar feel for the gun.
