  1. I want to thank SouthernLion for the boresnake. Great item.
  2.   What's the law on that? I thought as long as it was inside your vehicle (not carrying of course) & out of sight it was legal to have firearms/ammo on school property.
  3.   While some emploees are going to be jerks no matter where they're working IMHO I think one of Walmarts main problems is the way corp. chooses to run their stores. They keep expanding & building more stores, but don't know how to run them anymore. Then they do those stupid store remodels every few years now which wastes millions of dollars. Stock isn't splitting or going up in value (it used to split every few years), sales are down, so they try to make up for it by buying/selling cheaper imported garbage & cutting back the number of employees along with their hours. This leads to bad customer service, overworked employees, & more stress. This leads to less sales & customers going elsewhere to buy. I've watched our local store go downhill over the last 15 years. It's open 24 hours & I've seen many nights when there were literally six or less employees (including managers & stockers) running the entire store at night when there used to be 40-50. It wasn't that way when Sam was here & products were made in America.
  4. Here are some of the upcoming events at Bud's in Sevierville.....   Sept. 20th : "Hickok45" will be there 12pm-3pm Sept. 30th-Oct 1st: ATK Days Oct. 3rd-4th: Benchmade Laser Engraving Oct. 16th-18th: Beretta Days
  5. +1. You could also use some non refective duct tape (I wouldn't use black though...too much contrast) or even a flat paint if needed. That refelective tape will get a deers attention quick & could ruin a good shot.
  6.   Not BS at all. My wife has worked in management & customer service at Walmart for almost 16 years. (This will be her last year, though. She's graduating college this coming May & will moving on to something better  ) I've seen the safety videos myself. Like I stated earlier, most stores don't enforce it, but it's left up to the store manager to make the final decision. Next time you might want to try to learn a few facts before accusing me of lying!
  7. I don't see any problem with open carry, but some people might. I don't go to great measures to conceal. I usualy just have a loose shirt over mine. Walmart as a whole does have a "concealed only" policy, but most stores don't bother enforcing it. Some Walmart store managers will ask people to keep it covered, but most don't since you are perfectly within your legal rights. I say carry how you're most comfortable, but like wileecoyote said, some people might feel the need to give an opinion about it.
  8. Bud's TN website.... http://www.budsgunshoptn.com/retail-store/   Looks like a nice store. Range time looks a little pricey, but I'm definetely interested in some of their additional training courses they'll be offering. You can never have too much training.
  9.   +1. Franchise vs parent company vs online store can get confusing at times. Even their Lexington retail store isn't called "Bud's". It's called "The Gun Warehouse". Bud's was originally only for online sales. I'm still looking forward to visiting Bud's at their Sevierville location soon.
  10.   I agree that it sucks, but this is true of most companies. Even Walmart, for example, doesn't price match or honor their own online prices. They don't even price match with other Walmart stores. I've been telling people for years that Bud's online prices sometimes differ from in store prices. Sometimes certain items like guns are often cheaper in the store (online shipping really isn't free...it's just included in the online price) & sometimes items are higher. I learned a long time ago to make a call & ask questions before driving 2-3 hours round trip for something.
  11. The irony is, it's still better looking than a glock. :hiding:   I wouldn't want one of the "ultimate" hi-points, but it's always interesting to see builds like this.
  12.   Thanks. I'll go through my range bag & post something soon. I know I have some items someone else could use.
  13.   I'll take it. PM on the way.
  14.   Thank you Dolomite. I would be very greatful. We had the motherboard, hard drive, & power supply replaced only three years ago so it's not very old. From what I see I think those should work fine, but I'm far from being an expert on computers. The current chips are Corsair DDR2 PC2 5200. The motherboard supports DDR2 1066/800/667/533 MHz memory modules & it looks like yours are 667 so I believe they will work. Here are the motherboard specs from Gigabyte's website if it helps..... http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3498#sp
  15.   That's about a 4 1/2 hour round trip for me, but if I'm over that way anytime soon I'll check.
  16.   Yes. They're DDR2. Our mother board went out a few years ago & when we had it replaced the asshat computer shop installed a Gigabyte brand (even though we requested HP brand) & we were stuck with only two memory slots. I still have the original 512MB RAM chips that came in the computer collecting dust. (yes, my HP originally only had one GB of RAM from the factory :surrender: )
  17.   My provider has a monopoly in my area so we have to use them. (Highland Telephone Co-Op) If it tells you anything, we've been paying $85 for phone service & 1.5GB DSL. It's only about 18 feet, but we have to run it wireless because of the location of the router. My wifes laptop is running fine & fast right now, but my desktop computer is lagging really bad since the broadband was connected a few hours ago. Since it was working fine with the DSL I think it either needs more RAM to cope with the Wifi USB adapter I'm using or it's the USB adapter itself causing the lag. Either way, more RAM won't hurt.
  18.   Give me a shout if you find out. Thanks.     I'm checking ebay & don't mind used chips, but most of the sellers either have server memory or aren't sure & I'm not that computer literate myself. We're going to upgrade to a new computer after this upcoming school semester, but I'm stuck with my 32bit system for the time being. When buying memory does ECC/non-ECC matter?   Here's what I've got....   HP Pavilion a1712n Vista Home Premium 2x1GB DDR PC2-5200
  19. Maybe one of you computer guys can help me out. I have an older model HP Pavilion desktop computer with a 32 bit system & 2GB of DDR2 RAM, but I want to upgrade to 4GB of RAM without spending a ton of money. Does anyone know where I can pick up some new or even used RAM cheap? Before anyone tells me to buy a new computer...we're planning to, but it will be a few more months. In the meantime I'm going to run this one until the tires fall off.   Question 2...   We just upgraded from 1.3MB DSL up to 5MB broadband & now the computer actually runs slower with the broadband. I'm using a N150 USB Wifi adapter & now the computer is bogging down a lot. Would more RAM help bring some life back because my computer shouldn't run slower on a faster connection?
  20.   +1. Talked to an employee today & he said they were a franchise store & independent from "The Gun Warehouse" in KY. Ordering online from Bud's has not changed in any way.
  21.   +1. Because of my remote location I usually had to drive 150 miles round trip to Knoxville for FFL transfers because my LGS gouges big time. It was actually cheaper to make the drive than to pay local FFL fees. There's another local FFL I've used before, but he has a full time out of town job & is only home certain days of the week so that's not always an option. Making the extra drive to Bud's wouldn't be any more expensive for me, plus it would allow me to look at the gun in person before buying. The nearest public range is almost an hour away so I'll probably make use of that at Bud's too.
  22.   +1...plus a lot of their profit comes from selling ammo, gear, HCP courses, & the shooting range. Bud's great LEO & military support will get lots of local attention too.
  23.   I think part of the reason for the location is because of Bud's relationship with SMKW. Bud's has mentioned in their videos that they're the only retail store in the country besides SMKW to actually have a SMKW knife display. Plus, at more than 9 million visitors a year, the Smoky Mountains is the most visited national park in the world. Bud's probably couldn't have picked a better location.
  24.   Getting the cash price is easy. I always used my CC to hold my order & then mailed a MO to get the cash discount. The last time I ordered a handgun from Bud's, I mailed my MO on a Tuesday & had my pistol in hand at my FFL on Thursday. I actually had my gun less than 12 hours after Bud's got my payment. That's fast service. I live about 90 miles from Sevierville (2 hours) & 129 miles from Lexington (2 hrs. 45 minutes). I live in the middle of nowhere & am used to having to make long drives for everything so 90 miles isn't a big deal + SMKW is next door & one of the largest flea markets in the country is a five minute drive. That has the makings of a fun weekend.
  25.   I've been to their Lexington location several times & noticed that many of their in store prices are lower than their online prices so maybe that will make up for the tax on some guns. I stopped in at their Lexington location a couple weeks ago & was looking at a used Ruger P89. It was priced $329 online, but only $299 in the retail store. Of course this may not be true for all items, but it was for some of the ones I compared. I know their 9mm, 357 mag., & .45 acp ammo prices were very competitive, but .22lr was about $4 higher than WM, but at least Bud's had plenty of it in stock.
