I use two of the hazard storage cabinets, these suckers are heavy , surplus ammo cans,paper ammo boxes,100ct plastic trays, and have an old WWII foot locker that has my bulk powder storage. And still have stuff everywhere. Still hard to get into my reloading room.Store my cast boolits in large top plastic jugs.

Yes one guy had crates of  8 MM Mausers and the two old guy from Memphis had some old Win. lever guns, had a 44-40 from  1888. Some old damascus barrel shotguns also.

Went early this morning. Good crowd for Paris and actually saw some good prices on a couple of Marlin 30-30's.Several people with guns to trade and sell. Didn"t see any powder or reloading stuff.Couple of old guys from Memphis had a good selection of shotgun barrels, and a lot of wood stocks and forearms.

I prefer the swaging tool, have used the chamfering tools, but with older age ,harder to hold the brass and get an even chamfer, with the swaging tool everyone is identical. I have about 3 thousand 38 spl military brass and the crimp is really deep on them. Actually punched holes in some of the primers before they would pop out. Of course these are dated 77, 78,and 79.

Saw the ads in The Peddler Advantage today. Located at the fairground 22 and 23 March.

Looks good, Sidinman. Back then Sears sold a lot of J C Higgins guns. That old horse drawn mower brings back some early childhood memories. Are you going to shoot your own cast boolits in it?

Paul Scarta has an article in the Feb. Shooting Times mag. comparing 7 full size 1911's. Everyone has good points and bad points. Personally I've been wanting to get the Ruger sr 1911 myself. I perfer the stainless. The only way to really know what you like is to shoot and try them out. Just my 2cents worth of advice.

I use citric acid which is what is in koolaid also and probably in lemonshine. About 30 min. soak in the soap/citric acid solution ocassionally shaking the brass around and drain, rinse in clean water with a small amount of baking soda will neturalize the citric acid. Polish in walnut media and it looks like new. I always deprime off the press and wash my brass to keep dirt out of my sizing dies.

Out feeding hay this morning, about 4 in. of ice with about a 1/2 in snow on top. Cows had  10-12 in. icicles hanging off of them.No power loss here. Making my wood pile disappear really fast. Had to lock rear differental on tractor to get good traction to get up hills. Nasty stuff.

Freezing on the trees, sleeting and snowing, you guys east of here can  expect the same.

Having been in the cattle business the last 35+ years ocasionally you have humanely put down a disable animal. We're talking 1100-1300 lb cow. I've used 9mm,22lr,45acp and 38 spl. They all get the job done with one shot to the brain. All effective no difference. Shot placement is king.

Looked up the place in Illinois, Collectors Firearms  Simpson Ltd. They have a large variety of old sxs guns.

I have a friend that loads and shoots blackpowder shotshell in the damascus shotguns he has. He uses brass hulls and cuts and makes his own wads out of cardboard. Blackpowder is not friendly to plastic hulls. Mag tec makes a brass shell in about all gages.  The mag tec brass uses rifle primers instead of shotgun primers. I hand load and use brass hulls in my old stevens 235 sxs 16 ga. Just like our great grand fathers did back in their day. Nothing quite like the smell and sight of bp. There is a place in Illinois that has a lot of old Belgian sxs damascus guns for sale, can't remember the name of it. They even have some old underlever guns.

Should be easier to cast.  Also gain a little more weight.

Would be like a jacketed bullet, long bearing surface, adjust powder charge to compensate for pressure increase. Smooth cast bullets are used in bp paper patching already for some really long range shooting. Pc does nothing to keep bp from fouling the bore that is why it's not used in black powder shooting. Accuracy would be something to experment with using the pc bullets.  Will the pc paint degrade over a long period of time? Using lube, grease etc bullets seem to collect dust over time. A lot of questions about this whole process. I'm also thinking the molds should be cheaper without the extra machine time for the grooves.

Thinking of having  custom molds made without lube grooves to use with powder coating. Do I need a crimp groove cut or can I crimp over the pc? Studying the tumble coating method, looks to be the easiest. Do away with the messy lubing. Lube always a messy proposition with long term storage of cast bullets.

Got mine today. Had sent off to the Personel Records in St. Louis a couple of years ago for a certified copy. My sister wanted a copy so she could join the Womens American Legion Auxiliary . These designated licenses are nice to show for the Veterans discounts at places like Lowes and can get a free meal on Veterans Day at some chain resturants.

I had one of those back in the early 60's I ordered out of the Sears Roebuck catalog. About all I remember is how hard it kicked. The 303 is still shot a lot these days.

Wife and I got ours this summer also. Haven't been fishing yet. So much rain the fish are drowning.

Finished mowing a couple hundred acres of crp land. Saw a lot of does with fawns, more than I've seen mowing crp in the last five or six years. A lot of quail, the birds were all less than half grown. More rabbits than I've seen since back in the 90's. Should be a good year for hunting. The hawks were catching someof the rabbits and shrew that ran from the bushhog. Saw more hawks than the last few years also.
