  1. Back before we could hunt with center fire rifles in Weakley county we could hunt with pistols, so I bought  a sbh in 44 mag 7.5 in barrel. Used it when I would walk and stalk deer, open sights, have shot them from 15 ft to 75 yrds with it. Shot at five bucks and killed four with it. Easy to carry in my right hand. If was on the ground in hog country this is what I would use. Wouldn't be afraid to hunt anything on North America contient with it. This is my experience with it. The one I missed was one of the closets shots I took with it.
  2. Yes you can shoot black powder cartridges in your Blackhawk. Will make a lot of smoke and will need to clean the revolver after firing them in it. I load and shoot blackpowder cartridges in my 38 spls., and in my 38 S & W cartridge guns.
  3. If you go to the LWSeecamp forum home page and look under the holster thread there is a list of holster makers that make them for pocket carr.y pistols. I just ordered one for my 32 Seecamp. Been carrying it without a holster but don't like the way it moves around in my pocket, with the extra flap put on it for back pocket carry it looks like a wallet.
  4. Wife was listing to the radio yesterday and they were advertising 22 ammo at the Jackson gun show this weekend. Any body going to it?
  5. Sounds like you did the right thing. Some times you have to stand up to bullies!
  6. Go to the cast boolits forum and look at the coatings and alternatives to learn about powder coating. There are several how to stickies with very good information. Any thing you need to know about smelting and casting lead can be found there also. You have several hours of reading if you are interested.
  7. If you go to castboolits and to the coating and alternatives  thread there are about 600 threads with replies, that cover all the different ways to shake and bake your lead bullets. A lot of interesting reading.

    Pocket carry

Looking at a walther ppk/s 380 in ss for a pocket pistol.Give me the good, the bad and the ugly.
  9. I've collected several over the years. Would go out either at night or early morning with a large plastic garbage bag and spread over nest and cut the limb it is on and put in chest type deep freezer. Leave for a few days and take out. Spray outside with clear polyurthane and hang up. Have one hanging from the catherial ceiling in my kitchen now.
  10. Finished mowing crp this year.Quail population way down, rabbits about like last year, a lot of fawns also, several still have their spots, one spike buck also. Saw no turkeys, coyotes and no snakes. Hawks follow around the fields trying to catch shrew and rabbits. Rabbits were really thick where the johnson grass was thick and taller than my tractor. Farm is in east Weakley county and west Henry county.
  11. Bought one a couple of months ago. Like the way it fits my hand , but haven't shot it yet. Also got a sp101, haven't shot it either.Must be working too much and not shooting enough. Life is hard.
  12. Sold cartridge and scrap brass to local scrap yard a couple of weeks ago. $1.50 per lb. If you're planning on reloading in the future, would keep best head stamp brands and sell the other. It will always be worth scrap price and should appreciate in price as reloadable brass. If hildabeast win in 2016 it may be as hard to get as 22rf ammo is now.
  13. Wife made refrigerator dills and bread and butter pickles this morning. We grow a heirloom variety,Early Russian, they never get bitter like some of the hybrids.I love them raw.
  14. If you're going with a front end loader, get the 4 wheel drive. Also look at a grapple for the front end loader, makes cleaning up brush and storm damage much easier. Cab and air also. If this is one time deal do it right and never look back.
  15. Have shot a dozen or more this summer.More than I've ever seen around here. Never had ground hogs here when I was a kid. Was at Ft. Campbell in late 67 and saw my first ground hog there. Boogers don't die very easily.
  16. Welcome to TGO. My wife is from North Hopkins- Sulfur Bluff area. The folks around that area are fine people.
  17. Started to build a range in 2012, but was so hot and dry here decided to wait. Was going to use chain saw  to cut down  the overgrown junk down an old logging trail. Decided too much work and was going to rent a dozer for a couple of days and really do it right but rained all year in 2013 here, this is in a low spot between hills with a big ditch across it.Built a small shooting shack on skids , in my barn in 2011 ,to shoot from and pulled it to the range and have only shot out of it once.Hopefully will get the range done this summer. Will post pictures when finished.
  18. For $1500 you can buy two RIA's in govt. model, one to shoot in your left hand and one to shoot in your right hand and have enough money left to buy enough ammo to put up a pretty good gun fight.
  19. Looks good. From the photo looks like you are shooting downhill. The logs make a good backstop for recovering lead . Just have to burn them to get it out. How long is you range?
  20.  Welcome ,right down the road from you, right out of Palmersville. Believe you will enjoy living in the boonies.
  21. I heard of using drano for rat holes, like Lowbuster said they lick it off of their feet and kills them. I have some sorgum molsases and I may try that too. Thanks for the replys
  22. Big truuck I have a propane weed burner similar to the one in the video, hadn't thought of using it.Just need a remote detenator. I shoot them with a 22 when I get a shot at them but some time they come out of a different hole than the one I'm watching.
  23. These suckers are like a bad dream, they keep coming back. They tunnel under my barns and I've tried mothballs, smoke and now thinking about carbon monoxide from exhaust to put them to sleep. Have to sit and wait for them to come out to get a shot at them. Anybody have a good solution to cleaning out their dens?
  24. My wife had one in .380. Jam-o-matic. Couldn't hit the side of a barn with it.Told her better to throw rocks at someone. Sold it about five years ago for $125.oo
  25. Received a flyer from Alexander Auction, selling Dr. G. Katz estate 19th April.
