  1. I love the attempts to defend or minimize his words. Some of you would be foaming at the mouth if a Democrat had said the same thing. Trump may be a lot of things, but a defender of the 2nd amendment he is not. Is he worse than the dems? Not sure. But he has already done more damage than Obama and I'm way more scared of an anti-gun Republican president than an anti-gun Democrat. We've already seen the GOP do absolutely nothing to stop his push to ban bump stocks. Just like before, no one forced Trump to do this. The people that hate him are never going to vote for him even if he flops on his gun stance. He gained nothing from his bump stock ban yet he still did it(you can blame the DOJ but we all know it was Trump's doing). You can like his economic or immigration policies. You may think he's done a great job. But deep down, Trump is an authoritarian gun grabber just like those before him.
  2. These shootings have been on my mind as I'm in Chicago at the Lollapalooza music festival. I've never seen security like this. I've lost count of how many guys with AR's are walking around. Anything can happen but this place feels really secure. They have helicopters overhead, mounted police, cops on segways, etc. Pretty sure I saw some guys that we're SWAT team or similar.
  3. My understanding is that most of us will not see the $125 because the max payout is only $31M. I went for option 3 on there and went after them for more than $125 since I spent countless hours since this happened dealing with the freezing/unfreezing the credit of my wife and myself. "But only $31 million has been earmarked for the payments, and the more who file claims, the less each person gets. If all 147 million entitled to money request it, they would get just 21 cents apiece." https://nypost.com/2019/07/27/sorry-aoc-but-equifax-probably-wont-be-paying-people-125-apiece/ This is barely a slap on the wrist for a company that brings in nearly $4B in annual revenue and essentially tried to cover this up before eventually telling us what happened. Amazing.
  4. Yes, thanks. I knew you were the resident expert on their laws. My plan is to bring my lock box and secure it to my seat bracket once we exit the vehicle. Once we get there we likely won't use the vehicle much until we return. I'm hoping the area is low risk for vehicle break in.
  5. Dave, I have to travel to Chicago soon. Do you just put your weapon in the glove box or console while traveling through IL? Are there magazine restrictions for Chicago specifically? Just wondering what I need to know before this trip. It looks like we will be in Indiana up until the last bit of the trip when we cross into IL. thanks,
  6. X2. It's become my nightstand gun.
  7. Gentlemen, we're moving so these must go. If anyone wants to meet me in Knoxville you can have these. Almost all are SHTF related with a few others mixed in. I have a lot more than this but for some reason it says the files are too big...even though they aren't.
  8. Cops don't have to play by the same set of rules. It's best if you not even think like that as they will be given a lot more leeway than you and I. If you make a mistake you're likely going to prison.
  9. Agreed. San Diego is one of my favorite cities. The weather is some of the best in the country. Loved Oceanside too. If it wasn't so screwed up I would love to live there. If you ask a lot of Californians, most agree it's a nightmare politically but they still love it. Rightfully so.

    SRO Law

My school had a very redneck SRO that I wouldn't count on to do much of anything. Even my friend that worked with him at the same police department said he was useless. Yes, that's a cop, saying his SRO coworker was useless.

    SRO Law

There was also an SRO at a few of the other recent school shootings. It doesn't seem to be stopping them.
  12. The coaching goes both ways. I've used it to give praise a lot as well. When I gave negative feedback it was usually because the driver was one car length from the 4wheeler in front of them while doing 65. I don't need to drive a truck to know that's unsafe. Because of the driver shortage we're scraping the bottom of the barrel for qualified drivers and hiring people that really shouldn't be driving. Surely you guys have noticed the bad truck drivers on the road? It's not just passneger vehicles with poor drivers.
  13. The outward facing camera proved the light was green. The inward facing camera showed the driver was doing exactly what he should have been doing. Again, if we didn't trust our drivers we wouldn't want to record them. It's kinda like body cameras for cops. If you don't have anything to hide why would you care? Those are actually worse because they record all the time(in theory). These cameras only start recording in the event of severe braking, swerving, etc.
  14. I would trust you. There are a lot of other drivers I do not trust. I have noticed an increasing amount of aggressive truck drivers the past few years. But I think you have it backwards. If we didn't trust our drivers do you really think we would want to record them? Hell no. The cameras are there to prove the other vehicle was at fault due to the large amount of false claims brought against truck drivers. In class, we actually watched a video where multiple eyewitnesses came forward to say the truck driver ran a red light. As it turns out, he did not. Every time our drivers are in a wreck that wasn't their fault, they are thankful for the cameras.
  15. I'm confused by this. How can you both drive and be on your phone all day? I don't imagine there are many trucking companies left without cab cameras. As someone who had to coach drivers on their behavior, I genuinely don't understand the issue. I can only see what you do when the camera is activated. It's not like I can turn it on whenever I choose and see you picking your nose. The drivers that try to cover up the cab cameras don't last very long for us.
  16. The only load of b.s is this statement.
  17. That's not my understanding of bump stocks. Didn't the ATF previously say they were fine? They had been in use for many years with their blessing. It wasn't until Trump decided he wanted them gone that the the DOJ suddenly decided they were out. Pretty scary when they can just "amend" the rules as they see fit. "On December 18, 2018, Acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker announced that the Department of Justice has amended the regulations of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), clarifying that bump stocks fall within the definition of “machinegun” under federal law, as such devices allow a shooter of a semiautomatic firearm to initiate a continuous firing cycle with a single pull of the trigger." https://www.atf.gov/rules-and-regulations/bump-stocks
  18. Didn't seem to stop him from banning bump stocks. I seriously doubt he will listen to anyone on suppressors. He's going to do whatever he wants and we'll all stand by and watch it happen.
  19. Tucker sounds a lot like a Democrat...This is odd. It's usually the dems complaining about corporations while the republicans line their pockets from corporate kick backs. Interesting times. To be clear, I don't disagree with him at all. It's just not the normal party line.
  20. Wow. I told myself to not even bother posting in this thread and yet I did it anyways. Thanks for the reminder to stop wasting my time.
  21. I think the criticism of GPS is fair but I will point out one thing that has changed in the past 20-30 years. Traffic. Back in the 80-90's it was easier to glance at a map or directions without fear of missing your exit or running into someone. Now traffic is so bad in most cities that having the hands free GPS call out directions really makes things easier and safer. I couldn't imagine trying to drive through a new city today while relying on just a map. You'd have to constantly be searching for mile markers and thus not really focusing on the road. Think about all the times your GPS tells you your exit is coming up in 1 mile and it takes half a mile before someone lets you safely change lanes. Without GPS road trips would be hell today. If an EMP happens I'm sure my non-functioning GPS will be the least of my worries.
  22. I think you nailed it A.J. People are being manipulated. I've refrained from posting in the other "socialism" thread but I really believe the media is only trying to sell stories and divide us. I'm 31 years old now. I know a lot of younger people from 21-35. I have friends in San Diego, Portland OR, Orlando, Omaha and places in between. In all my years meeting people my age I have never met anyone who advocated for socialism. I would say I have an equal amount of friends that lean right and left. This idea that all young people are hoping to overthrow capitalism is simply not true. I really wish people would stop lumping us all into buckets. Now, I have heard people complain about the need for affordable healthcare and I happen to agree with them. Does that mean I want to live in a socialistic society? No. But I also don't believe that all forms of socialism are horrible. In my recent tour of Europe I can tell you the people seem to be doing just fine. They were happy, healthy(you literally couldn't find an overweight person), and seemed to be going about their lives just like us. They just pay an assload more in taxes. If you really think about it, we're either going to pay more for healthcare by having our employer suck it out of our paycheck or having the government collect more in taxes. I find it very hypocritical that the same people complaining about socialism have no problem using medicare. You can bet your ass that if the gub'ment suddenly offered medicare for all, the same folks rallying against it would be signing up the next week. Going back to the academia point. I can only speak to my time at Pellissippi State and UTK. I'm not denying that the professors are largely liberal. But the idea that they are shoving that agenda down our throats, or brainwashing us, is simply not true. In my 4 years I can only remember one time when politics came up and it was when TN was considering allowing guns on campus. Of course they complained. I would really encourage some of our older crowd to actually have some conversations with younger people and stop believing everything you read on The Blaze.
  23. Just finished a few more good ones. Dr. Death by Wondery. This one will make you do a lot more research before you ever go in for surgery. It's a tale of hospitals putting profits over patients and not suffering any consequences. It's believed to be the first time a Dr has ever been criminally charged for actions during a surgery. It's worth a listen. I found another podcast called Something's Not Right. They cover true crime specific to Tennessee. The production quality and commentary isn't great but it's interesting to hear about local cases. They have a lot of cases from Nashville and Knoxville. Lastly, if you haven't listened to the one MacGyver mentioned(In the Dark), you really should go listen to it. It's made it all the way to the Supreme Court and even Justice Thomas has some interesting remarks. If memory serves, it's only the 2nd time in his nearly 30 years on the court that he's asked a question during oral arguments. Powerful case.
  24. This is horrible. My wife and I visted the Prague castle last week which dates back to 870. You really can't appreciate buildings this old until you see it in person. I have no idea how they built something so amazing back then. Really sad to hear this.
