Ah, I missed the fact that it was a convertible. That helps. I'm not sure on suggestions. When you said it was ready to go I assumed it was not a cheap bug. I just know the one I drove was one of the more underpowered vehicles I've ever been in. If I'm going to have a toy in the garage I'd like something that has some balls. But that's just me. It's your money and all that matters is that YOU like it. So apologies for crapping on your idea. If you can sell the wife on it, and you'll enjoy it, then get it!

I guess they are unique but are there not more fun vehicles you could buy for the money? Years ago I dated a girl who's mom had an old restored bug. It was fun to drive for about 15 minutes. In the 4 years I dated her I was the only person that I saw drive it. It sat in their garage collecting dust.

There is a huge nest on Norris Lake that is re-used by a set of bald eagles every year. I've been lucky enough to study it from a boat with binoculars. Very neat experience.

It's $28 Greg. This tells me that after 7 years and 110k miles our Rav4 is still healthy. It's a small price to pay for helping me decide to keep the car another 7 years and barely took any of my time. The worst part of this test is having to step foot in a post office.

It can give you overall engine health down to more specific issues. If a certain metal count if off the charts they can identify the specific issue it may be having. Here are a few examples from their website. It looks blurry. Here's the link if you care, https://www.blackstone-labs.com/engine-types/gasoline/#

I cropped out the top part that had my address. That had the oil packages too. I believe the contaminants are covered in the bottom portion. He did mention fuel in the comments but said it wasn't enough for concern.

It's $28 for the standard test. You can also pay a little more if you want to know how long you can go between oil changes. They will do additional testing to see how much life was left in the oil when you changed it. People who drive a lot each year like this info as they may be able to delay an oil change from 5k to ....? Lots of great info on their website. https://www.blackstone-labs.com/tests/standard-analysis/

I don't recall if this has been mentioned here before but car guys may find this interesting. Blackstone Labs is a company that will analyze your used oil to gauge engine health. If you request a few free kits they will mail them to you. You will then send back a few ounces of used oil and they will analyze the metal content found in it. This tells me I shouldn't have any concerns keeping my wife's Rav4 a while longer. Not that I was concerned. I'll send in another sample at 175k.

I guess the I'm the odd man out. Some of the dive places I've been to are horrible. I like the places that add their own creative twist. One of the best places I've been was actually in Orlando. The old school places that just stick meat on a bun are not that great IMO. In Knoxville, Dead End is pretty good. This was my go to meal in Orlando.

You are not alone Dave. I would assume 90% of the time I click on a profile it's by accident. No comment on that other 10%

Walmart to stop selling .223, 5.56 and handgun ammo

Oh I agree it's concerning. It's part of a larger culture war taking place against gun ownership. -
Walmart to stop selling .223, 5.56 and handgun ammo

Did anyone catch the part about them banning open carry too? I really feel like this is Wal-Mart doing something just to appease the masses. They are still selling guns and some types of ammunition. Now they can say the "did something" without taking it all the way. -
I don't believe any of these are staged. We have over 320 million people in the US. It's not that hard to believe that we have this many evil assholes. If these keep happening at this rate I do fear more people will believe gun control is the solution.

01 Silverado won't run after disconnecting the battery
Erik88 replied to gregintenn's topic in General Chat
Interesting. Still odd that this would keep it from starting. While it's not the same as the module, I actually removed both ABS fuses from my truck. -
Yes I believe so. That's how I remember it.

I almost wonder if your new part was a dud. It's happened before. I'm not sure why that ABS module would keep it from starting though. -
I think Frog Lube has essentially been debunked. There are better products for less money.

Are we not going to discuss this? They are saying this is the worst loss in many decades. By the end of the 3rd quarter I was pulling for GA St. I'm so over the vols. How can a program generate so much money and still be this terrible? Amazing.

You not wanting it, doesnt stop it from happening. People are driving around drunk and high now. My argument is that just like gun laws, people are going to circumvent the drug laws. The war on drugs has failed. I watched a video a year or so ago where they interviewed some high ranking cop in Denver. He stated that crime has gone up(slightly) since they legalized weed, especially property crime. He was quick to point out that it wasn't the drug doing this. What happened was that all of society's rejects have flocked there. So if you think about it, these are people that were likely already committing crimes elsewhere and now they have relocated to one spot. If it were legal everywhere you wouldn't see this localized uptick in crime. When TN legalized CBD last year I stopped by a store in West Knoxville. I was the only customer under 60 in the store. Some of the customers were in their 80's. They were buying something to help their various health issues. I guarantee that these people would love some legal weed. CBD is like non-alcoholic beer. And they are not the type to drive around stoned. I have an uncle living in Seattle. He just retired from a successful career with Lochkeed Martin. He's a Trump supporting conservative, not a "druggie loser". He started vaping THC in the evenings and told my dad this is the first time he's had good sleep in a few decades. The government has no business telling these people what they can do in the privacy of their homes. If they drive impaired then they should face stiff penalties just like drunk driving but to pretend this is more dangerous than alcohol is just not true. The arguments against weed is that the sky will fall and drugs addicts will start raping and pillaging. This is an emotional based reaction that sounds just like the arguments we hear against guns. Both are short on facts.

Has the war on drugs worked? Yes/no? Answer-No. Legal weed is in fact cheaper than illegal weed. Prices in the legal states have plumetted thanks to competition. Capitalism is awesome! These threads always show the people that actually love freedom and the ones that want government control. DeerSlayer, not directing this at you specifically. But you can't simultaneously say that "banning drugs will keep people from getting them" while also saying "banning guns won't keep criminals from getting them." They are one in the same.

I haven't read this entire thread but I moved our emergency fund from Suntrust(who paid me 0%) to an online bank called Citizens Access. They are paying out around 2.2%. I feel like an idiot for leaving my money with Suntrust for all those years when I could have been earning interest. Since the recession I just assumed no one was paying out and never bothered to check. I find the first post to be too long to read but it sounds like he's discussing something called credit card churning. There is an entire sub-reddit devoted to this. Interesting stuff. I know people hate credit cards and refuse to have them. You're missing on on a lot of free money/rewards. Our points pay for a good chunk of our travel. If you don't trust yourself to pay off your card each month then I guess that's another story.

Knoxville guys will appreciate this one. @Mike.357 is this accurate for Corryton?

I guess it really depends on how often you're going to use the cooler. If I was going to use it frequently I'd rather pay once for a nice cooler than have to go buy dry ice every time. I will eventually treat myself to a high quality cooler.
