Sorry to hijack, but does anyone know this tree. It has nice flowers on it. I've never seen one like it. Probably 30 feet tall.

That's horrible. I can't imagine being hacked with a machete. I hope they make a full recovery, both physically and mentally.

That's about all they do right. Sonic is in the bottom 5% of fast food chains.

Maybe because the previous person was celebrating people not social distancing or using masks. I found that to be very odd. I'm happy things are opening back up but I still don't want people all up in my space, pandemic or not.

Not that I know anything about roofs, but I've always heard one should be skeptical of the lowest bidder. Especially if you intend to be in that house for several more decades. Does he come with any verifiable reviews?

Exactly what I was thinking. I don't even see how this database is that useful. What additional precautions are they going to take that they are not already taking? A full hazmat suit? Also, why are we stopping it at police and medical staff. Using this logic, everyone should know who tests positive. What if I live in an apartment building and my neighbor has it. Shouldn't I have a right to know so I can avoid taking the elevator with them? Of course I don't agree but we've got to stop pretending police and EMS should get special treatment than the rest of us. Also, I'm not at all shocked by the people here who are not bothered by this. It has become extremely predictable.

Clear and Present Danger. Harrison Ford. While you're at it, watch Patriot Games too.

My wife works for a title company in Knoxville and says that she believes the title insurance doesn't apply to the property, just the home. It's still a good idea to call though. @Capt.Dunsel I would call the title company you used when you purchased the home and property and see if they can help.

I was just about to say this.

That's correct. Up until March there was, to an extent. Kimberly Clark has DC's and production sites all over the country. Fun fact, some of their TP is made in Loudon TN. But from what I'm told, those are all empty now and the mills are running 24/7. It's probably going from the production line directly to a waiting truck. I'm actually exchanging text messages with a girl that's going to come cut my hair at my house. I'm pumped. I'm still fuming over this. I just read that United is already announcing layoffs even though they took a bailout. I was confused by this, as I thought one of the rules is that they had to keep people on the payroll. I looked into it more and saw they only have to employ people through September and the layoffs start October. I again want to mention that they are not even required to pay back most of the money. It was free, tax payer funds. Why the hell did we bail them out if they are still going to let go a substantial number of employees. I really don't get it. They should be required to pay back every penny, with interest. Instead we just have them a giant wad of cash and they still get to fire people.

The same reason people started hoarding ammo. Fear. Once word got out that people were hoarding toilet paper it became something we all had to have because everyone else was doing it.
-
I reached out to my friends at Kimberly Clark(think huggies, Cottonelle etc), they said demand is still extremely high. I wouldn't expect TP to be back in stock for several more months. Basically, people need to stop buying it for a little while. TP takes up a ton of space, where are people storing all this?

Apparently you guys were hit by something I've never heard of before called a derecho. I learned something new. https://www.tennessean.com/story/news/2020/05/04/sunday-storm-rare-derecho-middle-tennessee/3082028001/

You build roads right? Does it cost the same to build a road now as it did 20 years ago? Should county employees never get a raise? Someone has to pay for this. Even doing the bare minimum, keeping up with the infrastructure is going to cost more every year. I don't see minor increases over time as that awful. 32% is not a minor increase. I imagine this is one of those games where he throws out a ridiculously high number that pisses everyone off just so that the actual number doesn't seem as terrible. They will settle on something lower and people will assume they got a win. I don't understand how he could think that's a reasonable number. I found these stats from a 2014 article. "The mayor's budget, if approved as is by the City Council, raises Knoxville's property tax rate by 34 cent to $2.7257 per every $100 of assessed value. That equates to an $85 a year increase in city property taxes for a residential home with an assessed value of $100,000; $127.50 increase for a $150,000 home and $1,363.85 for a $200,000 home. City taxes were last raised in 2004 under former Mayor Bill Haslam who increased them 35 cents per $100 of assessed value. Every penny raises about $430,000 in revenue. The new tax rate is expected to bring in about $14.5 million." It seems like even a tiny increase would bring in a ton of revenue for them and not hurt people who are already hurting. I wonder if their budget was poorly managed before this.

I realize taxes can't remain the same forever but 32% seems like a giant leap. I'd like to know what that comes out to for a home around $200,000. Here in Knox County Mayor Jacobs elected to furlough county employees over a tax increase. I was reading that the county hasn't had a property tax increase in 20 years.

We've now had more people die in around 25 days than the Flu killed in 6-7 months. And that was an especially bad flu year. There really is no comparison and I'm not sure why people keep bringing that up. We can debate how the government should react but comparing this to the flu doesn't make any sense. Experts have told us for years this was going to happen and our government failed and pretty much every level. Then the CDC failed with the testing. When they do their pandemic simulations they never predicted a scenario where we would botch the testing. That was so basic it wasn't considered to be a potential point of failure. The blame goes back 3-4 administrations I would assume. My biggest take away from this entire thing is that if we ever have a highly contagious virus that kills more, say 20%, it would be catastrophic. Life as we know it could change for decades. Even the Fed can only do so much to prop up the economy. Our government can't even provide enough masks for our medical professionals. For the people saying the government went to far, I can definitely see your point. My question would be, how bad would the virus have to be before you approve mandatory lock downs? What should they do in that scenario? I ask because I really don't know. I hope that our leaders think about these scenarios after this, so that we can be better prepared than we were this time. I have my doubts though.

I agree with you but I'm seeing KY has done 33,075 tests. That still far less than the amount of tests TN has done. And it's frustrating all these media outlets have to distort the facts to prove their agenda.

I think she might actually be poking fun at the other protesters but I could be wrong. It's hard to believe anyone would really mean that.

Go with OEM or equivalent parts, not aftermarket.

He's good people. I've trusted him to break into my truck while I'm working so that says a lot.

I don't think so. Must be demand coming off the interstate. Prior to this, Lenoir City was normally a few cents cheaper than most of Knoxville.
-
Has anyone noticed gas prices in TN(or at least Knoxville) haven't dropped as much as other states? We've been stuck around $1.70 all month in Lenoir City. Many other states are down to $1.00. I guess there is still enough demand from I40/75 to keep prices from plummeting?

If that point comes I'm gonna have some fun with it. I've always wanted to see what I look like with a mohawk. I'll only disappoint myself and my neighbors at least.
