  1. My wife's Grandma is getting up there in years and her daughter(my MIL) asked if I wanted to buy this gun. No one knew what it was other than to say it was a .22lr revolver. She only wanted $50 and would include all the ammo they could find which ended up being around 150. I ended up giving her $70 but I'm still not sure who got the better deal. @Garufa helped me identify it as a Herbert Schmidt Ostheim. Then I figured out it's a Model 10. I dug a bit further to figure out more info and this is what I found. The internet wasn't kind to this gun. "It's a rebrand or a copy of the Rohm RG-10, historically one of the worst revolvers ever made.I believe they were $12 brand new, made of pot metal and barely able to function. Those types of guns were specifically targeted in the '68 gun control act, banning the import of cheap 'Saturday night specials'. It's a little piece of history now. In excellent condition with the box it could bring $100 or so. Keep in mind those types of guns are infamous for spitting lead and cracking apart under pressure, don't expect to get more than $50 out of it easily." I test fired it in their yard and it worked! So, does anyone have any experience with H&S revolvers? I've been unable to figure out when this one was made.
  2. Apparently the shooter was a former NFL player. https://www.newsnationnow.com/us-news/southeast/suspect-found-in-south-carolina-killings-of-2-kids-3-adults/
  3. Somewhere out there is a meme about executive order abuse, regardless of which POTUS is doing it. A few of us have been complaining about this no matter who was in office and I recall being told to hush. I wonder how quick these new E.O's will be challenged.
  4. Maybe. It might depend on who is talking about them.
  5. With as much rain as we've had I'm a little surprised the fire is able to spread like that.
  6. Well I got the shot around 1215 yesterday. I felt perfectly normal until around 10pm when I tried to go to bed and realized I had a mild fever. If I had taken their advice and eaten some Tylenol I probably would have slept ok. I didn't get much sleep but aside from that and a sore arm, I feel pretty normal today. CVS was very efficient. The entire process took around 30 minutes and half of that was waiting after the shot to make sure I didn't croak.
  7. The one and done is appealing. And while it's less effective overall, it's still extremely effective at preventing hospitalization and death which seems to be most important.
  8. I was able to get an appointment for the single dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine. I went out of my way to get that one specifically. I know we had some people here interested in that one. I used Vaccinefinder.org and selected J&J only. There are several pharmacies around Knoxville offering it.
  9. I had no idea. Thanks for letting me know. Where did I suggest that?
  10. Background checks are low hanging fruit. Nearly every single one of the mass shooters passed a background check. How do you keep these people from buying a gun if they don't have a criminal record that would prohibit them?
  11. This just shows the level of disfunction in Government. They just passed this bill, which isn't clear at all, and now they are already working on a "clean up" bill. Why is it so difficult to get it right the first time?
  12. You must not be eating at the right hipster places. Have you been to Abridged? It's not too far from where you live. Best burger in town. I think there is a difference between hipster and high end. You may not get full at some of the real expensive places.
  13. And last time I checked the TN permit is one of the best in the country for total number of states we can carry in. I still renew my FL permit too. The TN permit allows you to carry in around 37 states. https://handgunlaw.us/states/tennessee.pdf
  14. @Handsome Rob I really hope you're allowed but I'm not sure. #1 below concerns me. "Under present law, it is an offense for a person who carries, with the intent to go armed, a firearm or a club. This bill adds an exception to the application of this offense that a person is carrying, whether openly or concealed, a handgun and: (1) The person meets the qualifications for the issuance of an enhanced handgun carry permit" Later on it says the bill was amended "ON MARCH 18, 2021, THE SENATE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1, AND PASSED SENATE BILL 765, AS AMENDED. AMENDMENT #1 revises this bill's exception to the offense of carrying, with the intent to go armed, a firearm or a club. Under this bill, it will be an exception to such offense that a person is carrying, whether openly or concealed, a handgun ,and: (1) The person is at least 21 years of age, or is at least 18 years of age and has been honorably discharged from military service or is on active duty and has completed basic training" So it almost seems like they ditched the requirement that someone has to qualify for the enhanced permit. Hopefully someone else will chime in and clear things up. https://wapp.capitol.tn.gov/apps/BillInfo/Default.aspx?BillNumber=HB0786&GA=112
  15. I have a bit of a different suggestion. I love my Blackstone griddle. I doubt I'll buy another traditional gas grill.
  16. I have a freedom-boner for the first time in a while. Proud of our state. @Worriedman thanks for all the hard work you put into this.
  17. There are several of us that have shown support for this. I even called a few politicians to encourage them to pass it.
  18. I just drove to Nashville and back today. There was tons of flooding along I40 and lots of wrecks today even when it stopped raining. The Caney was extremely high. I don't drive that stretch of I40 often but I'm guessing that river hasn't been that high in a while.
  19. The alternate is buying cheap clothes that don't last. My wife and I did that for years and we finally got to the point that we're done buying cheap, made in China clothes. One of our goals this year is to buy as little stuff made in China as possible. Its been difficult.
  20. I don't think there are many Republican politicians that are REALLY die hard about gun rights. They certainly aren't freedom loving in general. It isn't surprising to me that we haven't been able to make this happen yet.
  21. Thank you for your work on this and keeping us informed.
  22. I realize that hog is substantially smaller than the bear, but I really expected it to put up more fight. I always heard they got nasty when threatened.
  23. Same here. My wife and I have been working from home since March of last year. They are likely making me go back by the summer but my wife gets to work from home permanently. I think I only put 3,000 miles on my truck last year.
  24. I have a friend with one of those powerful magnets and a bunch of rope. There is a bridge over a big creek near my house I'm going to try it at. This is a moderate crime area so I wouldn't be surprised if there are a few guns down there.
