  1. No, but now I want to!
  2. During our home search a few months ago we actually saw some houses that had kitchens dating back to the 1970's. They still had the original appliances and I can only assume they were still functional.
  3. I guess I was mistaken but I actually thought it was banned towards the end of Obama's presidency. I remember it being discussed here.
  4. We're closing on our new house next week and immediately remodeling the 90's kitchen. We've been looking at a Samsung. Anyone have experience with their kitchen appliances? We've had their washer/dryer for 5 years now and both have been reliable.
  5. I may have to pick this up. I saw one interview of a guy who tries to find crashes as a hobby. He claimed there are several crash sites that have never been found.
  6. There is a GE plant in Charleston TN. I'm curious what they make there. It seems the location in Morristown closed in 2020. They made electrical boxes at that location.
  7. Those look good but am I the only one that doesn't care for corn tortillas?
  8. Reliably bad? What exactly do you eat there? I don't mind their breakfast but I've not had much luck with the rest of their food.
  9. I've been watching it now for over an hour. He also had an extended magazine in his backpack. This DA is about as professional and thorough and we could hope for. I've found her to be extremely credible during this press conference. The kid had a history of violence both with his GF and with law enforcement. He brought a gun to school, he pulled and shot and police, and they returned fire. One shouldn't expect any other outcome. The community should be ashamed of how they jumped to conclusions.
  10. I hate to break it to you guys but I suspect few people are wearing gloves when they make your food. That includes nicer sit down restaurants too. At the restaurant I worked at for 6 years, I never saw the cooks wearing gloves.
  11. Was or was not warranted? If stabbing someone or even attempting to stab someone with a knife doesn't justify deadly force, I'm not sure what would. All it takes is one slash to the throat and one of the other girls could have died.
  12. There is no way what Chauvin did was acceptable. He got what he deserved. That being said, I agree with this statement. The events yesterday in Columbus OH are a great example of this. We've entered a new era where no matter what the circumstances are, if a black person is killed by police it immediately leads to protests and outrage. Don't even wait for the facts to come out. Celebrities were tweeting about it and folks like Ben Crump immediately jumped at the chance to get involved. I couldn't believe how hard the cops had to tip toe around the issue in the press conference yesterday. They had to go on and on about how tragic it was that a girl was killed after she began stabbing other girls. We have her on video going after people with a knife and folks have made her out to be a victim. No one showed a single shred of sympathy for the other girls that were being attacked with a knife. Bring on the social workers. Let's disarm the cops and see how it goes.
  13. They are the best by far. I saw a headline where a Covid vaccination site asked Chick-Fil-A to help them organize their drive through line.
  14. There are several fast food places that I don't understand how they are still in business. Their food is horrible. Long John Silvers- I never see more than a few vehicles at these places Captain D's-same as above Krystal Arby's- decent fries? Burger King-probably one of the worst fast food burgers Sonic- staying alive on their drinks and shakes alone? I wouldn't be surprised if some of those chains don't survive this decade.
  15. I've gotten really desperate if I'm having to eat McDonalds. What's crazy is that those places aren't even cheap anymore. For around the same amount I can eat at Chipotle and not feel as guilty about it.

    Squeal!!

Same here. Pretty sure it was a plastic toy or airsoft gun.
  17. I'd like to see the F-4. There was a lot of this Cessna still around. We did the hike last month.
  18. To be honest, I'm getting really damn annoyed with the entire thing. The BLM march over the weekend didn't help my mood. People were holding signs demanding justice for the kid that brought a gun to school. I don't understand it. Meanwhile we've had god knows how many other black people killed this year by someone other than police and the same community hardly reacts. Have you ever looked at the unsolved homicides on KPD's website? You'll notice a trend. https://knoxvilletn.gov/government/city_departments_offices/police_department/criminal_investigations/unsolved_murder_cases
  19. It's now being reported that the family of the deceased child has retained lawyer Ben Crump. That name might sound familiar to you... https://www.wate.com/news/local-news/family-of-killed-austin-east-student-retains-lawyer-who-represented-george-floyd-trayvon-martin/
  20. @Swamp ash Do you have a favorite trail?
  21. Tomayto-Tomahto If UBI isn't a form of welfare, I don't know what it would be called. I'm assuming the thought is that if we lift people out of poverty, it will help with the violence? I just don't believe there will ever be a cure for poverty for the same reason that you have so many lotto winners than end up bankrupt. Some people are destined to be poor. It is unfortunate. If you give them $2,000/month, they will soon be demanding $4,000. Actually, there might be a cure for poverty, but I highly doubt it's more government. In fact, I would bet that if we had fewer of these programs to fall back on, people might actually be forced to improve their situation. As someone that has had a macabre fascination with the federal deficit I just don't see it. I don't buy the idea that rich people alone can pay for all these programs. Even if we had the money, I have serious doubts that throwing cash at poor people is going to keep them from killing each other.
  22. I'm sorry but I just don't believe that more welfare-like programs are going to solve the issue of gun violence in the inner cities of America. We have been financially supporting people for decades now and if anything, it's just getting worse. I think we've created a system of dependency and fraud where you have millions of people that are healthy enough to work but choose not to because it's too easy to survive without a paycheck. I'm in favor of helping people with drug addiction and mental health issues but giving them a monthly check to continue being a non-contributor is the wrong approach. I also don't believe that poverty alone is the reason why certain neighborhoods are full of gun violence. If that were the case, every trailer park in America would be a death trap.
  23. I wish I could find the article again, but I saw something a while back that showed an insanely high % of total murders in the US occurred in just 3-4 counties.
  24. I don't think they care. Anything over 10 rounds=evil.
  25. That's simply not true. Some of the worst shootings in history happened while Trump was in office. 2018 amd 2019 were particularly horrific. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mass_shootings_in_the_United_States
