sorry about the HUGE picture... on that note if anyone can offer suggestions on how to post pics other than photo bucket I would appreciate it....

Great great gun, but how in the world is that considered a compact? noooo way...
-
Dude I'm drooling over the computer right now, I don't know what it is about the p238's that I love.. I had a change to buy one new for $500 but passed it up....I'm still mad at myself...
-
No hard feelings Jim and thanks everyone for the suggestions. And just for the record my parents have gotten used to me having the gun around the house and have actually been more supportive of it. My mom even mentioned getting a gun of her own... To which I just snickered.

Thanks guys I appreciate the support. I got a lot of good advice.. I think he would take back the welfare comment if he knew that I paid off my car loan early, the money to pay for UT comes straight out of my checking account, and my credit score is in the top 10% of the nation....I work part-time and go to school full time... Ignorance is bliss Jim

You lost me with the welfare comment....This has nothing to do with what I was asking in the OP......And I didn't almost shoot him, I simply approached the front door with my gun at my side...not pointed at him or near him.....

How does that NAA Guardian treat you? I'm not familiar with them at all.. I see they also make a .380 which is pretty appealing...

they are correct...6 long months...might as well get it done ASAP though because it takes a while after that until you actually receive it..

G26 vs G19 for CC - any difference
Erik88 replied to Joe86's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Any difference? yes....Obviously the G19 is a lot bigger and therefore going to be that much more difficult to conceal. If your build allows you to conceal the G19 and you like it more then go for it. I personally would not want to carry a gun that big because I'm a smaller guy and can't conceal as easily as others. The G19 will probably be more fun to shoot but if you get the pinky extension for the G26 it could be a dream. -
We are finally getting somewhere, thanks guys...

While these have been interesting guys, I was wondering why so many people carry Spyderco and Benchmade, and if I should invest in one of these
-
I notice that many guys on here carry other tools beside a gun including a flashlight, pepper spray, and knife etc. I noticed a few trends. I currently carry just my gun and my Gerber. And here lies my question. I kept noticing that a lot of guys are carrying a Spyderco or Benchmade knife as apposed to a Gerber like myself. I know nothing about knives so I wasn't familiar with these 2 brands. Is there a reason for this choice? Are these 2 brands better for self defense or just better quality, or is it just a preference? I carry a knife as both a tool and a last line of defense but to be honest I don't know if my Gerber is the right choice. I will also start carrying a personal defense flashlight(their term) similar to this one. Thoughts and suggestions will be appreciated. http://www.night-gear.com/stores/n/nightgear/catalog/5110.250.jpg

[quote name= I assume that you're a student? Perhaps a like-minded room-mate would make it more affordable if you only have time for a part-time job?[/quote] Even with a room-mate most decent places are around $500 a month. I do work part-time but by the time I pay for all my other expenses I barely break even. And besides, think how much ammo I could buy with that money!!!

We have a security system....that they choose not to pay for or use.....

ya, my mom lives in fantasy land. She grew up in rural minnesota with 18 brothers and sisters(yes i said 18) They never locked doors and people were always coming and going. she still thinks its normal to have people coming and going. I just need to sit down and have a talk with her. When I first got my gun she did mention getting one also, it's my step-dad that needs to:chill:
-
Do you have an extra $500 bucks a month laying around? I sure don't
-
Thanks Mike, I plan on trying to talk to them about it without pissing them off..

To the original post: I just acquired a Beretta 85 .380 and I have been wondering the same thing. Whatever you decide to go with Cabela's has the best prices I have found on .380 ammo... Cabela's -- Search Simple Product

Way to be rude guys...He is obviously new here so cut him some slack. If it pains you so bad to read the thread then don't bother posting on it....

So I have been a little annoyed by this for a while now and thought I would share what happened. I was home alone a few weeks ago when the following took place. I was downstairs in my basement(yes college student still living at home) when I heard the front door open. I immediately go into defensive mode and grab my gun that was beside me. This is not normal b/c my parents don't use the front door ever, nor do they come home during the day very often. A few seconds pass(seemed like hours) and I can hear someone moving around near the door. I am trying to plan what I should do next when I hear a deep voice say "hello"... This makes me somewhat at ease only because I don't think most robbers would announce their presence. But I wasn't taking any chances so I open my basement door looking up to find a repair-man staring back at me... Apparently my mom had hired him to work on the gas fireplace and decided I didn't need to know someone was going to be coming over.(she left a key outside) The frustrating part is that my parents are oblivious to the basics. They give me grief when I double check the locks and my step-dad is always giving me crap about my gun being on my hip, on my nightstand etc.... Any suggestions on how I can teach them to use a little more common sense? Sorry for the long thread...

In my short driving history I have been pulled over 11 times but only had 1 ticket... Speeding for the majority of them. I have been very lucky. I was pulled over on I-40 for going 110 in a 55.. (i was actually going closer to 120)... I told the officer I had eaten Japanese food earlier in the evening and needed to....use the bathroom... I was very convincing and he let me go.... But the other times I was very respectful..... There are still good cops out there guys.. Respect goes a long ways..

I just bought this belt in brown not long ago.. Very stylish and very tough! I now wear it even when I'm not carrying.. This is the best value I have found... Amish Work Belts - Brown

I agree with you guys, for as much money as a Kahr costs it should not require a break-in period. My primary carry right now is a Taurus 24/7 pro Compact.... I has been 100% flawless and I trust my life with it.... I will most likely never buy a Kahr...
