  1. Can you merge it into the existing threads? We have two for the same topic.
  2. Agreed. But if gang members(or people that associate with them) are buying guns at the shows, I would rather they be caught. But you're right it will be used against us either way.
  3. I'm sure we all feel similar about the ATF, but if they are catching people like this then it sounds like the type of work we want them to be doing. Seems like a legitimate use of their resources. Having that type of criminal activity at the gun shows only makes things worse for the rest of us.
  4. Knoxville has some sort of connection with Detroit that goes deeper than sharing the same interstate. This is probably the 10th time over the last several years that a local news story has mentioned someone from Detroit being arrested in Knoxville. Several of stories were murders. Gang related I'm guessing.
  5. That's more of an issue with the food manufacturers than it is transportation if I had to guess. I'm sure transportation might have some impact but I think companies are having a hard time getting raw materials and not producing as much product as they would like. Goes back to the labor shortages. What we're seeing now with the trucking industry is concerning. We're having to solicit freight for the first time since 2019.
  6. I could believe this. Some say the trucking industry is an early indicator for possible recession. We have seen a dramatic shift at work since diesel prices shot up. The amount of available loads is declining every week. https://www.freightwaves.com/news/bank-of-america-is-sounding-the-alarm-on-collapsing-freight-demand
  7. How high is the window?
  8. Good points. I want to mention I'm very much in favor of what we're seeing with the job market right now. It's a breath of fresh air to see a sliver of power being shifted to workers instead of corporations. I hope it lasts a while.
  9. I wonder if there is a point at which this isn't true? Meaning can we get to a point where there are more open job openings than qualified workers? We're back to unemployment numbers we saw before the pandemic(50 year lows). I have a theory on what might have to happen to fill the gaps but it would be extremely unpopular on TGO.
  10. The thing that hasn't been mentioned is that many people don't get overtime. I've been in my field 11 years and have been salary 10 of those. There were many days I worked 12 hours and only got paid for 8. But you can bet your ass they bitched if I needed to take an hour off for a Dr appointment. I'm just now in my first hourly job and they complain if we work too much overtime. We only get 5 hours of OT per week.
  11. Exactly what I was about to say. I'm fine working 50 hours a week but after that I start to question my choices. I doubt many people are on their death bed thinking "I sure am glad I worked all those extra hours"...
  12. You're right. I'm wondering why I'm getting such different answers every time I Google it. Someone told me rates had gone over 6% last week and when I googled it, below is what came up. It does appear rates are less than that though so that's clearly bad info. Nerd Wallet is saying 5.35% for a 30 year fixed which is basically what you wrote.
  13. I'm just thankful I'm not trying to buy a house right now. The 30 year fixed rate is now 6.75%. I plugged that into my mortgage calculator and if I had that interest rate my monthly mortgage payment would be over $750 higher. Things are about to get interesting.
  14. Kinda strange that Sig won both the handgun and long gun contracts. I remember the RFP for handgun was written in such a way that it was obvious Sig was going to get it. Sig quality does not impress me. My experience has not been great.
  15. Someone is going to punch that dude in the face one day and take his zapper.
  16. And it sounds more premeditated and thought out than a meth head is usually capable of.
  17. So what happens next? I feel like this is the 4th or 5th time I've heard how the ATF is trying to pull some shenanigans and then nothing comes of it after they catch a bunch of grief about it. Can they even change laws? Wasn't that the debate last time?
  18. Is that the one where he unloaded on the robbers with a full auto rifle of some kind? I remember he had several encounters over the years. I thought of that story when posting this.
  19. Horrible story out of Georgia. Proof that any place can be a target. https://www.newsnationnow.com/us-news/southeast/police-3-dead-in-gun-range-shooting-40-weapons-stolen/
  20. Very sorry to hear this. I enjoyed his posts here.
  21. We just put our youngest dog to sleep yesterday. My wife and I were not prepared for how much it hurts. Hug your dogs every day is all I can say. We don't get them for long.
  22. Great post. I had no idea one could still find a used Glock for around $350. Years ago my older brother didn't own a handgun. I came across a Gen2 Glock 22 in decent condition and gifted it to my brother. He hasn't shot it much but still has it. Even though .40 can be snappy, that gun has little recoil and was easy to shoot. That Gen4 22 you linked is a great value. If I still had any .40S&W ammo I would be tempted to buy one.
  23. Did anyone hear back from Olight? I got a tracking number 7 days ago but it hasn't actually moved.
  24. I saw this on Twitter. The guy filming said it was a teenager driving the truck. It blew out his windows and his phone was sucked out. Crazy.
  25. I had a thread from a few years ago where I was asking about converting light fixtures from a ballast to LED. Someone found it and commented on it recently. That wasn't the strangest part though. I now live in a different house with the same issue and I had just thought about it the day before. It really creeped me out.
