these are the kinds of responses that really get old on TGO. The OP asked a pretty simple question and was just wanting some feedback. Instead of putting him down, why not offer some useful advice? What is so wrong with him questioning when it is appropriate to draw? It's these responses that make it really hard to ask a question on TGO without fear of being belittled or ridiculed. And also why some of our members are not even posting here anymore(aka Bronker)

Really Jamie? You can gather all that just because he asked a simple question? I don't think there is anything wrong with him wondering these things ahead of time. In today's world it's not as simple as we would like. Even when you are in fear for your life, the DA might not see it the same way. Witnesses lie, or it's "your word against his". I don't know why you guys feel the need to put him down just because he's trying to educate himself before getting his permit. I am constantly on different forums reading stories about people who defend themselves while carrying. I don't do it because I'm paranoid but rather to learn from each situation so that I will hopefully know what to do if I'm ever in a similar situation. Dustin, all I can say is that the likelihood of ever having to use your weapon while carrying is pretty slim, but should that time arise you will most likely know without a doubt that it is time to draw, or shoot.

I had a good time at the show today. Hung out with the usual crew as we blocked isles and watched Caveman do some torture testing on some of his merchandise. Also watched the "KCSO" steal ammo from people why were trying to check their guns. One elderly woman was not too happy about it. Ken, what happened to you today man?

I have a pair of the 5.11 tac lite pro pants and several pairs of the shorts. No complaints here. I've never ironed them but they seem to wash well and they are very comfortable.

I was actually surprised when I shot a 1911 for first time. Much less recoil than I was expecting. The weight helps soak up the recoil.

If it makes you feel any better, I had never seen it before you posted it. And I got a laugh out of it.

It sucks that the 2 people who were killed were in a house that was somewhat prepared. They were killed through the door, that is terrifying IMO. Not much else they could have done differently. At least the homeowner was able to kill one of the bastards.

I hate that it always has to turn into a "Glock vs____" debate. The other thread wasn't started for that reason. We were just saying that our go-to gun is the G19. I guess I'm in the minority because I own both a Glock and XD. I like both, A LOT!! There are things I like about each. My XD-40 subcomact carries nicely and also acts as my nightstand gun. I have around 800 rounds through it without a single malfunction and I can make tighter groups with my XD than any other gun I have.

there are so many good choices out there and you will probably get 50 different answers. I say just go with what YOU like best. I bought a 12 ga a while back for home defense and later realized I'm more comfortable with a handgun. My nightstand gun is my XD 40 with a Streamlight TLR-3 attached.
