    Tipping.

Oh, and I forgot to add a few points. I work in the bar area a lot, that's where the real $$ is. If you decide to go out drinking and you sit there for a long time and have several beers, please leave more than $3-4. Even if your tab is only $15 dollars you have to keep in mind that when you hold my table up for hours and then only leave a few bucks, I actually LOSE money from you being there. Servers make money when they can turn a table several times. A good rule of thumb is to tip $1 per drink, especially if you set there all night. Oh, and the jokes about the Sunday morning crowd are all true. The absolute worst tips come on Sunday mornings. I think because most people tithe %10 at church they decide to tip the same. I can't figure it out. But it's ok because they always make sure to leave me the religious pamphlets too

    Tipping.

all I can say is THANK YOU to everyone that has posted so far. I've been working as a server since high school and all the way through college. Almost 6 years now. It's been a great job. I've learned a lot of patience and I'm pretty good under pressure now. The most memorable bad tip I ever had was a guy that left me ZERO on a $160 tab. He paid with a credit card and didn't write a tip in on the slip. I searched the parking lot for a while for that dude. Glad I didn't find him though, like my job too much. Best tip I ever got was from 2 guys that come in pretty often. Their bill was only $50-60 and I think they left me almost $40. Also got a $100 tip once but the tab was several hundred dollars. Overall I usually average around %18-20 for the night. I had a job interview last week, and the guy was really impressed that I've worked at the same restaurant for almost 6 years, considering how high employee turnover is in the industry.
  3. very nice!!!! Looks heavy!
  4. Mike, FYI, the new SR40's are supposed to be great guns. A few members here have them and have posted about them. Do a search on it and see what comes up. Also, there is one for sale on Glocktalk NIB for only $350. That's cheap! And Bud's has them for $398 IIRC
  5. what about building in a state park. I went to Ft. Loudon a few weeks ago and I went into the little museum/visitor center and later I wondered if it was illegal to carry there? And when I was at Norris Dam this summer I drove up to the campground and they had signs that said "no firearms". I wasn't sure if that applied to permit holders or not?
  6. maybe you misread my post. I'm looking for a gun FOR MY GIRLFRIEND. I don't mind recoil.
  7. I have shot 4 different Kimbers of various sizes. All performed great. But I've also heard the horror stories from people I trust. This seems to be the standard for the 1911 platform as a whole though. Most work great, but some don't.
  8. My dad has one of the earlier SR9's and the trigger is really gritty. I've heard the newer ones have better triggers but I don't know for sure. Also, the side safety pinches my thumbs when I try to rack the slide. And to be honest, the entire gun just feels cheap to me. I found the fit and finish to be lacking but I haven't seen anyone else say the same so maybe I'm just weird. They are accurate guns though.
  9. Ruger makes a fine firearm. I'm not a huge fan of my dad's SR9 but it's a good gun no doubt. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
  10. I will never ever trade in a gun. It's so easy to sell a gun to an individual that I don't see why anyone would ever trade one in.
  11. this thread has made me wonder why I've overlooked CZ. I'm really interested in the PCR
  12. never get shots. I avoid the doctors office at all costs because I don't want to go somewhere where sick people are 24/7. I never get sick and rarely take medicine of any kind.
  13. do you like it better than your Glocks? Is this purely a range gun for you, or a carry gun? I like the ergo's of the M&P line.
  14. If you're on private, remote, property and you have permission to be there then I wouldn't worry about it.
  15. Can you all recommend a gun for my g/f? I'm looking for something small and light that she can keep in her purse. I thought about giving her my Ruger LCR but the recoil is PUNISHING, to put it lightly. I was also considering the Kel Tec p32 but I just don't know if I trust Kel Tec. No offense to anyone but they look like they were made in a sweat shop in Ethiopia. The fit and finish is horrible. They are small and light though. And affordable. But after looking around the reliability issues are questionable. Also considering the Beretta Tomcat .32---- but once again I'm seeing mixed reviews on reliability, and their customer service is terrible. I'm open for suggestions.
  16. much more collectible stuff than modern.
  17. it was an ok show. parking was horrible and it was crowded. But I didn't notice as many stinky people and it was a nice change of vendors. Definitely a nice change from the usual shows.
  18. Wow. So they actually pay up? Makes my decision to renew a little easier.
  19. DUH!! you are a lawyer after all just messing!
  20. service is most important to me. I've found a shop locally where the employees are great and the prices are competitive.
  21. is paypal ok?
