  1. no I haven't gone through the trouble yet though I have considered it. I'm in the same boat as you. I graduate from UT in July, hopefully I will find a job in TN, but if I end up in a state where CCW laws are not as friendly then the non-resident permit might be a good idea. From what I understand, I really don't think it should be that hard to obtain one of those permits.
  2. I highly recommend Big South Fork to anyone who has not been. While I love the Smokies I would much rather be in BSF. My GF and I usually have the trails to ourselves and there are many places I have found that would be great for camping.
  3. Nathan, proud of you bud! Keep us posted on your progress!
  4. well i hate to hear that the 115gr still isn't working. Make sure that you give her some HOT 124gr ammo for protection. I like the 124gr +P Gold Dot's in my G19 and G26. Best of luck!

    Hail damage

I take it you don't have full coverage insurance? My gf's car has $7,000 in hail damage from the storm but insurance is going to total it.
  6. I miss mine. I had to trade it in for the RSX. Damn thing was a gas hog.
  7. I didn't know Bill was moving shop to Farragut. That is great news but I wish his fee hadn't gone up. Where exactly in Farragut?
  8. I just checked my ticket and they no longer mention anything about weapons or firearms. Carry away as far as I'm concerned.
  9. I just wanted to resurrect this thread and say that I went to a game today and I did not see any signs this time. I also asked one of the LEO's if people with HCP's were allowed to carry there and he said yes. He didn't seem too happy about though. That is all the clarification I need. It was also the D.A.R.E day at the stadium so there were probably 15-20 armed LEO's in attendance.
  10. If you are going to carry the pistol openly then I would get the thumb strap. Otherwise I don't see any reason you should get a holster with a thumb strap unless you're going to be doing hand stands
  11. Hey Bronk, did you check out the Condor II when you were there? That's what I use when hiking. Nice bag but somewhat small.
  12. sweet!
  13. I have had friends who got LineX and it turned out great. My stepdad has the factory spray on liner from Nissan and it looks fine. Have you checked to see if Ford offers that option?
  14. actually I'm pretty sure the current bill in TN stated that it must be concealed while on campus.
  15. what would I do? I wouldn't get that close!!!
  16. I have(and use) the Supertuck and I think it is one of the most OVER-rated holsters on the market. $70 for a piece of leather and kydex. I use it almost daily but wouldn't buy another one. Next time I'll get a Kholster for 1/2 the price. Not trying to derail the thread, just thought I would throw out an alternative to the Supertuck.
  17. the option would be a good thing I guess but not everyone wants to renew right away or has the $ to do so.
  18. To elaborate on my first post. I have both a Glock 19 and 26 which could be compared to having the 4" XD and the Subcompact XD. I honestly don't notice a drastic difference in carrying the compact vs the subcompact. If you really want something that is going to be noticeably lighter and smaller then I don't think the subcompact is what you are looking for. I had the XD40 subcompact and loved it but the term "subcompact" is used very loosely in the gun industry.
  19. the xd subcompact is much heavier than 20oz and you honestly won't notice much difference between carrying it and carrying the 4". If you really want something smaller and lighter to carry you are not going to notice a huge difference unless you get something single stack like a PPS or Ruger LC9
  20. don't call the chief. The cop obviously realized that criminals don't open carry and I'm sure he made a judgement call based on your demeanor.
  21. is this job in AL going to be temporary or permanent? If it's temp then I wouldn't worry about it. If you think you're going to be there for 5 years then just go ahead and get the AL permit. And you can also snag a non resident permit from another state such as Florida. That would probably allow you to carry in more states.
  22. Well since you asked...there are many other guns I would get before the SR9. My dad has the SR9 and it is a great gun but I would personally get other guns before it. That is just my opinion, take it for what it's worth. my choices would be(in order) 1) Glock 19---proven time and time again to be a a fantastic gun. It's hard to beat Glock reliability 2)CZ P01 or 75 compact---CZ's are probably the most underrated guns on the market. IMHO 3)Springfield XD or XDM- fantastic guns and feel wonderful in my hand 4) S&W M&P---some die-hard Glock guys are switching over the the M&P line
  23. diapers!!!! you sir are a badass!! I've got the usual- Fenix pd31, Spyderco, spare mag(or 2), first aid, 550 cord, h20, pen/paper/sharpie, Freeze +P, lighter, matches, etc etc. I'm mall ninja certified.
  24. Peej, did you get your UTG bag yet?
