I would agree with this, at least the general public in TN.Maybe not in other states. I would never OC in a state/place where it is highly frowned upon. Spend some time on opencarry.org and you will find that generally speaking when someone gets grief when OCing they are in a place where they should have kept it covered up. I won't say they were "asking for it" but they should have known better. Or they DID know better and that is why they carry tape recorders in their pockets.

I've always felt that the .38 revolver was a bad choice for women due to what most would agree is sharp recoil.(assuming it's a snub nose?) If she can't rack the slide on a semi then rack it for her and leave it loaded. My thinking is that I would rather her have more than 5 shots, if she can't rack a slide then I don't think she would be able to reload a revolver either. Add stress to the equation and it gets even harder. Maybe I'm completely wrong here but that's my opinion. Also, I've never understood why men always give their wives a .38 snub nose because they are "more simple". I think most women are capable of operating a semi if given some instruction. Again, maybe I'm wrong, it's happened once before

"Don't steal, the government hates competition" always makes me chuckle.

I completely agree with this. I don't understand the guys who walk around with tape recorders in their pockets. But this thread is way off topic now and I'm making it worse. Continue on.

Big South Fork. I even passed some people who I think were from NYC and they were friendly and talkative. Oh and to give you an idea of just how absent minded people are, my GF's cousin who went hiking with us never even noticed my gun until an hour into the hike when her husband mentioned it. Completely oblivious, this is why I feel like the majority of the time I OC most people don't even notice.

I open carried all day today while hiking. Not a single person said a word to me about it. Everyone I talked to along the way smiled and had conversation with me. I didn't do it to protest or make a political statement. I did it because OC is far more comfortable to me than my concealed carry holsters.

I like my coexist sticker.

How did Suntzu get ripped off? What happened?

I have not shot it since I was at your place. The sight isn't going anywhere though. It's on there for good I believe. But I still need to shoot it soon and see how I like it.

I won't be able to join you guys tomorrow. Doing another BSF hike with some friends.

well said.

Went by there today and peeked in the windows. It seemed like there is still a LOT of work to be done. I would be surprised if they get it finished by the 3rd. No one appeared to be working inside either. There was an entire wall full of holsters though. I'm excited

I just got home from a trip to see my brother in the Bradenton/Parrish Florida area. I wanted to touch on a few things I noticed from the trip. But please do not use this thread to discuss why you do or do not open carry. This is not meant to be a debate, that has already been beat to death here. When I'm in TN I OC on occasion when I feel the situation is right, I always OC when hiking and usually when I'm going to the range. I don't OC in places where I feel it would freak people out. Regardless of how anyone here may feel about open carry, I just want to say that I am extremely thankful that we live in a state that allows us to openly carry. In Florida this is not an option and if you gun becomes exposed I am almost positive there is a penalty for it. Some kind of misdemeanor IIRC. During the trip it was extremely hot and I was carrying my G26 in my CBST. I was constantly nervous the whole trip that my gun was going to become exposed and someone would see it. I realize it wasn't likely but I hated that feeling. I would rather have carried my G19 but there is just no way I was willing to risk carrying a bigger gun, I was nervous enough with my subcompact. My brother lives in a more rural area and there were several times that it was so hot I would have much rather thrown the G19 into a OWB holster and OC'd. I highly doubt anyone would have cared at all. There were 2 times that I was loading my luggage in my car and my shirt rode over my gun, luckily I was at my brothers house and no one said anything. And since it was 90 degrees outside it wasn't as if I was able to put more clothes on. It is absolutely ridiculous that law abiding citizens are suddenly criminals if they bend over at Publix and their gun becomes exposed. I'm really not sure how CCW holders in Florida are able to keep em covered up with it being hot 8 months out of the year. I guess they just pocket carry a lot or wear really really big shirts. Obviously I realize it gets just as hot here in TN but at least we don't have to worry about getting hauled off to jail if our shirt blows up over our guns in the summer. The only point I'm trying to make is that I love having the freedom to OC if I choose to and I would love to see Florida pass open carry. I think most of the people here will agree, regardless of whether or not you choose to OC.

do you work there? This is your umpteenth post about it now.

maybe you missed the distance constraints? Thanks for the idea though, i'm sure music row would be fun.

I haven't shot the 9mm but I have shot Aguila in .380 and it worked fine. It is known to be very HOT ammo and I could definitely tell a difference. That seems like a pretty good price, especially for 124 gr. I'm sure it would be fine for plinking ammo.

I forgot about that. They kids would probably enjoy that.

is that considered to be part of Big South Fork or Daniel Boone? My GF and I are doing the honey creek loop on Sunday in BSF. We love it up there.

excellent, thanks for the info.

My brother is bringing the family up from Florida in July and they "want to see something historical." The first thing that came to mind was the Big South Fork Scenic Railway. I've been wanting to take the train ride for a while now but haven't had the chance. It looks like a lot of fun but I'm not sure how "historical" it would be. Has anyone ridden the train before? I'm open to other ideas as well. It would need to be something in East TN within 2 hours or less of La Follette.

excellent, keep it up!
