  1. That is a good point. My brother did 2 tours in Iraq and only used his Beretta one time. It got the job done(he didn't actually have to shoot the guy).
  2. You don't need to school me on the history of the 1911. You didn't answer my question about whether they will actually WORK right out of the box. I think I'd pick a $400 RIA over a Colt.
  3. Will these Colt's actually work right out of the box? I'm sorry but when I picture a "go to war" handgun it isn't the 1911.
  4. Didn't you just move to Memphis a few months ago? I'm sure you will like Alabama. I've never really heard anything negative about it. Good luck!
  5. This is how I feel. The signs in Florida do not have the weight of law and they ONLY place I have ever seen one down here was a pawn shop and gun stores.
  6. I used to think about what I would do in an active shooter situation while unarmed on campus. You really have 2 options. 1) hide under your desk and pray. 2) rush the guy and try to overwhelm him. I'm not saying I would have had the guts to rush this guy in the theater, if I was far away I would have hit the floor hoped to live. I'm always armed at the movies but I don't know if I would have been able to get a shot off. I am surprised that no one close to the guy tried to charge him when he went to reload. Then again, I wasn't there and I'm not about to judge anyone in such a horrible situation.
  7. This. Anything can be used as a weapon. This guy could have built a bomb and taken out the entire theater, he was definitely capable of it.
  8. I'm not saying I have the balls to do it myself, but I'm shocked no one tried to tackle the guy like they did in Fort Hood.
  9. I cannot get this event off my mind. It is bothering me a lot more than previous events and I don't know why. I have anger that I don't know where to direct and I feel horrible for those involved. One of the members on Glocktalk is a cop in Denver. He said the scene was absolutely horrible and chaotic and he experienced Texas post hurricane Katrina.
  10. This is horrible. I'm always armed in the movie theater but I don't know how much good it would have done in this situation. If smoke is everywhere I'm going to hit the floor and keep my eyes open for the shooter. It's strange that the guy went down without a fight, why bother with a vest?
  11. I've been a few times. It's definitely a fun but frustrating game. It's a good game to know for the corporate world, all my coworkers golf together. Apparently Orlando has some great courses.
  12. I looked at the TV guide. It said Hannity on channel 28 which I do not get. I was surprised myself.
  13. Ahh, good to know. I just tried to tune in but sadly I don't even get Fox. I pay $20 a month for "basic" cable. I'm obviously getting ripped off. 1/2 my channels are in Spanish.
  14. And how do you know this?
  15. What an idiot. This is not a good idea. What channel is Hannity on?
  16. I'm not going to lie, this case made me buy an AR a little quicker than I was planning. I'm right here in the middle of it. Now I just need more pmags and ammo.

  19. Whiskey, which trail was that?
  20. You are absolutely right David, living in East TN is a blessing. One that I miss. I'm flying to Montana in a few weeks. I'm really excited about seeing Yellowstone and the Grand Teton's. Check out the view from my hotel.
  21. oh you big drama queen The drive isn't that bad. The reward is definitely worth it! After living in Florida I would give anything to be able to drive 2 hours and be in the mountains. Maybe the timing will work out and I can join you guys on a hike! I'll keep an eye on this thread. I would check out this trail for a weekend hike. Take your time and enjoy it. http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2012/jan/05/hike-of-the-month-big-south-fork-loop-trail/
  22. BIg South Fork is also nice for those of us who want to bring our dogs. My Husky loves going hiking with us!
  23. I agree but it's easier said than done. The natural reaction is to reach for falling objects. At least for me.
  24. This topic came up a few years back and it was stated that the hospital is part of the university so it doesn't even have to be posted. I don't know if that is correct though.
  25. Happy Birthday Gordon! Enjoy it!
