  1.   Ok. And what exactly would have prevented Sandusky from doing what he did? I guarantee that the current policy of Scouts not allowing gays will not stop some predator from joining.    We all get pissed when the anti-gun crowd doesn't use logic you but just did the same thing with this topic. Nothing will prevent a predator from harming kids and preventing someone from participating in scouts because they are gay is ridiculous.
  2.   Unless the scout masters are trying to push some "pro gay" agenda on the kids(which I highly doubt) what does it matter?   People with homophobia lose all credibility with me. You just seem ignorant.
  3. I don't have a problem with this. People are gay, it's time to move on. It's not like some guy is going to have uncontrollable urges just because he's working around boys.   And much like gun control, I'm sure this policy has not stopped gays from working with scouts already. I'm sure they have been numerous gay scout leaders over the years that remained quiet about it.
  4. I don't qualify. Last year I was apparently a "poor" college student because I got over $4,000 back. This year I'm only getting back $1,000.    I learned a valuable lesson this year when it comes to taxes and what to expect.
  5. Thanks for sharing.
  6.   Yep. Have you ever noticed that we have certain members who will sell 10-15 guns a year? Really makes me wonder who they get away with it. One of the moderators here has calmed down lately but I'm pretty sure he's sold more than anyone here.   And I guarantee the ATF has people who monitor the classifieds here.
  7. I've always been told you should never keep your safe in the garage for a variety of reasons. Just FYI Neil.   For one, it's the easiest place to steal from in your house.
  8. That is a good price but if you are looking for canned goods I suggest you try Aldi's if you have one near your house. Their canned foods are always around that price. Some great deals can be found there.

    Glocks

I like this. Did you do the stipple job yourself?
  10. ;)
  11. Stopped by Wal-Mart yesterday after work. All they had was overpriced .380 and a ton of .45ACP in terms of handgun rounds.   I ended up getting 2 more of those brown boxes that hold 00 buckshot.
  12. My friend finally received his Bersa a few days ago. This was 4 weeks after he ordered.        If it makes you feel any better I mailed a coupon into Sig Sauer back on 10-19 for a free handgun magazine. I called on Wednesday to check on the status and  they found my coupon in a "huge stack". My magazine will arrive over three months after I sent for it.
  13.   what? How is this cheaper than .22LR? That would mean you are getting it for under .04/round.
  14. No offense to females but isn't the Sig a much bigger gun than the Glock? For someone with smaller hands I would imagine the Sig might be difficult to grip.     The article does not mention how much they will have to spend on new holsters and spare magazines, never mind the cost of switching all their ammo to the new caliber.    This will cost the tax payers much more than 13K.
  15. Where on earth are they basing this 4 year life span for Glocks? I'm not trying to go full fanboy but that's ridiculous. Most cops only shoot twice a year so there is no way they are worn out in that time.   I would rather have the .45 over the .40 though.
  16.   Doesn't do any good if you can't find the components needed to reload.   Also, how much is the initial start up cost? I've priced a few items before and it appeared it was going to cost me a lot to get started. For someone that doesn't shoot all that often it would take me a long time just to break even.   I'd like to know how much you guys pay per round to reload your own .223 ammo.
  17.   David, before Sandy Hook one could buy 1000 rounds of 223 for the same price. Do you think prices will stay high permanently or come back down eventually? I cannot afford to pay .70 a round. Takes the fun out of shooting.
  18. Unless money is the reason I don't understand why you don't keep as much ammo on hand as you have room for.    We recently had to cancel our weekend shooting trip among coworkers because none of them had ammo and couldn't find any. This completely blew my mind. I have an idea how much money they all make so there is no excuse for not keeping at least a few hundred rounds on hand. My coworkers were suggesting I'm "crazy" for keeping more than a few boxes on hand at a time. One coworker even thought he would try and be funny by suggesting I'm going to "go off on a shooting spree"   These guys are all gun owners but think I'm nuts for keeping a little ammo on hand for the exact situation we are in now. Of course, a few of them voted for Obama and one drives a Prius so I really shouldn't be surprised.   I don't even have that much ammo compared to a lot of people. I have maybe 300 rounds of .38 and only 1000 rounds of 9mm. To my coworkers I'm the next Adam Lanza though.
  19. I'm confused. What are we supposed to be shocked about? What am I missing in this link?
  20. This is why I will never get a tattoo. Good luck with this. Let us know how it goes.
  21. google search!
  22. That's terrible. I'd probably send his supervisor an email asking for clarification. The animal shouldn't have to suffer because of this.
  23. One of the best videos I've seen in a long time.     http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miEmIfhfxuc
  24. One can never have enough magazines but I should be ok for a long time. Hopefully things will start returning to normal in the next 6 months but who knows how long it might actually take.
  25. Mark, you were sober enough to drive but not to be armed? Just something to think about.   I was at First Tennessee Bank, the location on Middlebrook and Cedar Bluff, about 10-12 minutes before it was robbed. I was armed at the time and I later wondered how I would have handled the situation. Definitely scary to think about.
