  1.     Trust me, that is the goal! It's been a challenge to put money away each month with me being the sole provider. Now that she is working that will change.
  2. Solid advice all around. You guys have me rethinking our strategy. If we pay off both vehicles that's an additional $700 month we could put toward the mortgage. My wife car will be paid off in 10 months anyways.   I appreciate the responses.
  3.     He's actually doing very well financially. I like your advice though. Thanks for the input.
  4.   The Rav4 has a 0.9% interest rate. Over the course of the loan the total interest was only $350. We're still paying extra on it and my Tundra. Good advice though.   I guess I should have specified, we have enough money in the budget to pay extra on both vehicles AND the house. The question is whether or not it makes more sense to put that house money towards my Roth IRA or something else. It sounds like most here agree with me that paying the house down is the way to go.
  5.   Interesting advice. My 401K has lost 10% or more since January 1st. I'm not sure now is the right time to throw MORE money into that arena.
  6.   I agree with you. Not only is it a horrible idea but I have issues with it morally. I agreed to pay for this house and would have a hard time just walking away. I paid off my student loans years ago, we have no credit card debt and our Rav4 will be paid off this year leaving only my truck payment.
  7. I have a financial question for the more knowledagble here. I was speaking to my boss last week who is big info personal finance and he told me he doesn't recommend paying exra on my house. His reasoning is that he would much rather have that money in a bank account or invested in something. He pointed out that the housing market could crash again and that I could always "walk away" from the house.   My logic for paying $50-150 extra each month towards the principle of my mortgage is that if I pay it off early the amount of money I will save in interest is pretty significant. Clark Howard says that extra $100 a month can save tens of thousands in interest.   The stock market isn't doing too hot. If I leave that $100 in my savings account it's really not earning any interest. I could put it in my Roth IRA I suppose. To me it just makes more sense to try and get my 30 year note reduced to 15-20.   Thoughts?   Also, I should add that we currently live off my income and save 100% of my wife's income so it's not like we are not putting money aside.
  8. I like the magnet but I wouldn't be comfortable having the trigger exposed on my Glock.
  9. Which tires are those Neil? I just picked up a 2002 Tundra a few weeks ago that will need new rubber at some point. I was thinking BFG's All Terrain T/A's but I like yours better.
  10.   I AM the target demographic and I hated it. What was even worse was the pregame music. That guy doing his version of country music was absolutely horrible.
  11. I've owned 7 different Glocks in several different calibers and only once did I have an issues. My gen 4 23 had issues that I think were attributed to a bad magazine but I can't say for sure. Overall, OEM Glock mags are typically flawless.   As with any gun it's always a good idea to function test each magazine.
  12. April 10th is my birthday so I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate. Sadly, I have nothing to offer other than ammo..
  13. I prefer a paddle holster for OWB. I love my Comp-Tac paddle holster for my Glocks. It comes off easy enough at the end of the day yet is tight enough to the body that I have no problems concealing.
  14. How bizarre. After having a house with a security system I'll never be without one. The peace of mind it provides while away from the house is worth the cost. I don't care how nice the neighborhood might be.
  15. Side note, Toyota stopped offering the Rav4 in a V6. And as someone mentioned, with a V6 it absolutely hauled ass. It was one of Toyota's fastest vehicles. We love our Rav4. I almost went with the V6 but the 4cyl has been plenty of motor for our needs. I've even hauled 1000 pounds of laminate flooring in the Rav4 without issue. I could feel the weight but it was fine. Obviously it's not going to tow a boat but it's not intended for that. We also get similar gas mileage as PackinMama.   Everyone that rides in our Rav4 makes the same comment, "I can't believe how roomy it is". Also, because of the spare tire being on the back hatch there is an entire hidden compartment in the back. It will fit a Remington 870 and a lot more.   I keep a get home back hidden back there in addition to a spare pair of boots, some jumper cables, and other misc stuff. All of this is out of sight.
  16.   I like that. Do you guys sell anything from Matrix? I've never heard of them before.
  17. I 2nd the Toyota Rav4. We love ours. It was cheaper than the competitors and has better resale value.

    SNOW!!

All joking aside, it took me a few seconds to actually spot the dog in the picture. :)
  19. Sorry to hear about your bad luck. It's funny you brought this up because I was actually about to start a new thread to ask a question about my hot water heater.   When we bought the house back in September the inspector said it was the original hot water heater(11 years old now) and he recommended having someone out to perform routine maintenance.   Has anyone ever done this? I'm just wondering what type of maintenance should be done.
  20. Welcome from Loudon County. We spent 4 years down around Orlando and couldn't wait to move back home. FL has a lot to offer but we don't miss it yet.
  21. For those familir with Glock history there is a very rare Gen 1 19 on Gunbroker. Again, it's a Gen 1... Supposedly there were only a handful of these made.   Naturally, I still can't copy and paste on TGO.

    SNOW!!

That's really not a dog you've got there Neil... ;)   Did you get the Yota out to play in this weather?
  23. Awesome picture. That's pure determination right there.
  24. I wonder why they chose those quantities? 21 and 27?
