  1. I'm a huge Glock fan but it's impossible to deny the PPQ has better ergonomics and a superior trigger. Both options are great. Pick the one you like better.
  2. I can't think of a better value. I'd rather have the Shield over the G43 anways and you know I'm a big Glock fan.
  3. I'm not a huge S&W fan but I do like the Shield. At $219 after rebate it's a smoking deal. I will say that the .45 shield was too much recoil for my girly hands. I'd go 9mm.
  4. That is surprising considering every single person that has fondled one said the trigger was outstanding. You personally law the scale read 10 pounds? Or is this one of those stories where the fish got bigger each time? Maybe it was a lemon?
  5. Ya I was trying not to be snarky but I did think of how bad they screwed the pooch on the roll-out.
  6. Well, this thread has been quiet a long time. Has anyone got their hands on one yet?
  7. I'll echo some of what the others have said. I think it really boils down to whether or not your daughter and her roommate can keep this issue private. If they can find a good spot to keep a handgun out of sight and not tell anyone about it, I think it would be fine. As others of mentioned, I think the issues would arise when she mentions it to a male friend/boyfriend etc who then wants to look macho or try to impress them by screwing around with the gun. Perhaps some additional conversations with your daughter can solve these questions.
  8. That's definitely something to be proud of Greg. You and your wife must have done a fine job.
  9. Same here. I've seen it get pretty specific as well.
  10. I'm pretty sure folks in MA can still buy full cap Glock mags if they are preban. I see them selling for a premium occasionally. But I think you're right that it doesn't apply to actual weapons.
  11. So I just stopped at the Knoxville location. There were tons of people flooding inside but very few buying anything. Most items were only 10-20% off. Guns and ammo were still full price. I imagine another company may buy all the guns or they might get auctioned off. Either way it was a waste of 10 minutes.
  12. Wow.. I did not see that coming. The Knoxville location has one of the largest selections of handguns I've ever seen. Something tells me their going out of business sale will still be 30% above MSRP.
  13. Kelly is 1/4 Mexican. Kelly is 1/4 Mexican. We use it for an excuse to drink more Tequila.
  14. Double tap..
  15. I have mixed feelings on this white privilege. I think the idea is that if you are born into a successful or wealthy family you are more likely to also become wealthy. I do think that being born into a poor family may make your path harder but not impossible. I agree that this is often used as an excuse. I've seen it go both ways. I've known kids that were born into solid middle class families turn out to be completely worthless due to their own choices. ...deleted my last paragraph, came across different than I intended.
  16. I'd have to agree but I never really made the connection until now. I've never been a risk taker and I believe I've probably held myself back because of it. It's weird, I'm conscious of this "flaw" but still not brave enough to change it. Thanks @MacGyver for this post. You've given me some things to think about.
  17. I don't mind it honestly.
  18. I firmly believe the folks that bitch about the rich do it purely out of jealousy. I work with a guy who was complaining about CEO salaries and was stating that by eliminating those salaries it would greatly help the employees. I looked up the Wal-Mart CEO salary, divided it out among the 2.3 million employees and it came out to $8.43 per person.
  19. My friends built a 2500 sq ft house for around $200,000 but hey did a lot of the work themselves.
  20. This is good news! I wonder how many folks they caught
  21. Yes, that is my understanding of how history unfolded as well.
  22. Since starting a new job in January I have been going a lot less but I plan on changing that now that the days are getting longer. I'm lucky that my range is 3 miles from my house. I took the wife out to the range on Thursday after work. Her little p238 performed flawlessly as it always has and thankfully I didn't have any issues with my MPX either. I know a lot of gun owners that maybe go shooting once per year...maybe.
  23. No he's not. I will say that Mike has a good point so the meme isn't 100% fair. If Obama had his way I have no doubt would would have seen much more damage done. That being said, the hypocrisy from conservatives on this issue is yet another reason why I'm continuously annoyed with both parties.
