I know this is going to sound really harsh, but that was painful to watch. Those ladies need more training, a lot more. The daughter is incredibly lucky she didn't shoot her mom. The mom is incredibly lucky her gun was empty when it was taken from her. I've told my wife many times over the years that shooting someone once with your .380 likely won't do. Keep shooting until the threat is down.

It's being reported that the there was in fact a SRO stationed at the school and instead of confronting the shooter he waited outside for 4 minutes. That officer has now resigned. Wow. Just wow. Not surprised in the least bit. I would imagine this was the case for every student that spoke and probably every adult as well.

I didn't get to watch it, just now catching the highlights. I see that Rubio caved on a few issues. As others have said, the mood and response after this shooting is one we've not seen before. Students are pissed and they are not backing down. The media is eating it up as well. From what I'm reading, this really wasn't a "meeting" but rather a one sided attack on the GOP and the NRA. I actually like the idea of both sides sitting down to discuss ideas but it has to be done in a way that is productive. One thing I think the GOP needs to do is allow the CDC to study this. By shutting that down it looks like we're afraid of the results.

Gordon, no offense but I would caution you from spreading this until some sort of proof comes out suggesting this is true. We're really not doing ourselves any favors by spreading what seems to be conspiracy theories.

I keep reading that there was a school resource officer at the school at the time of the shooting. One student claimed during an interview that the cop was "nowhere to be found".

You may be right but I have a slightly different opinion. I don't think he hates guns or the 2A. My belief is that Trump's only allegiance is to himself and his brand. He is going to say or do whatever he feels will benefit him the most. As a rich elite in NY it made more sense for him to be a liberal his entire life up until he thought he might have a chance at becoming President. Once he saw the outrage that Obama created he suddenly changed his mind on most topics and declared himself a conservative. I just read that in 2000 he ran as the candidate for the Reform Party and ironically one of his biggest goals was universal healthcare. He also claimed Oprah would be his running mate. My how times have changed.

The anti-gun crowd on Reddit is already criticizing Trump for not doing enough . Poor guy is getting hit from both sides!

I read that he waited until just before classes let out because he knew the doors open at that time. I suspect your scenario is possible too. Either way, it's not like any of these schools would be that difficult to get into.

Pretty sure I heard he worked fast food somewhere. I can't remember where though. He had no car and presumably lived for free with that family.

I have found that for every one I enjoy there are 2 I have to skip. There are some really good ones out there though if you are willing to search. They are great for the drive to/from work or during slow stretches at the office.

Is that here on TGO? Personally, I won't meet anyone in person before I speak to them on the phone. I can get a much better feel for a person over the phone than I can via text or email. When I was trying to sell my car a few months ago I couldn't get this one person to call me. He kept emailing me. NEXT!

It bothers me that some in the media are portraying him as a troubled youth that never had a chance. It's like they are excusing his behavior because he had a crappy childhood. Lot's of people had a rough childhood and turned out to be great adults. They will do anything to deflect away from the shooter and to the gun debate I suppose.

In regards to CNN, yes actually. Didn't check MSNBC last night. Just thought it was in poor taste, not that CNN isn't guilty of doing the same thing. Anyways, I didn't ever hear what happened with the officer at Pulse. Thanks for clearing that up. I agree with your assessment that our schools are easy targets. I'd like to see funding set aside to make schools more secure.

I agree with this but it's also impossible to deny that the US has really cornered the market on mass shootings. I keep trying to remind myself that these events are still pretty rare but I am concerned with the current trend. I don't know what the solution is but doing nothing doesn't seem to be working.

Pretty tastelss headline by Fox. "BLOODBATH". As far as the gun free zone. It's a high school. Other than putting an officer in every school I'm really not sure what the solution would be. Even that isn't a guarantee. There was an officer at Pulse Nightclub too..

If I was forced to carry my G19 the rest of my life I'd be fine with that. There are probably better options but this one always works for me. I'd like to get my hands on the CZ P10c but they can't seem to produce enough. I've yet to even see one in person.
