That's exactly right. I've taken numerous friends shooting over the years that were young democrats. All loved it. I'm seeing some of the more prominent youtube gun guys posting memes making fun of the parkland kids. How is that going to help win over anyone that's not already on our side? I'm honestly ashamed to be associated with that. We need to be the voice of reason, even when it seems the other side isn't willing to listen. I've said it before but it's worth repeating. Only a small portion of the country is extremely anti-gun. We represent another small portion. Most Americans fall somewhere in the middle and could easily find themselves agreeing with us if we present our argument in a mature and logical way.

I'm just going to say this and then be done. With the GOP controlling every branch of government we should not have to be be THIS concerned. That alone, is a sad indication of current events. As much as we all hated BHO, I can't recall a single gun related item or accessory he was successful in banning, especially without any grandfather clause. Rand Paul is right, the GOP is a better party when they are fighting for their lives. When in power, they are hard to distinguish from the democrats. The fact that the GOP just rolled over and took this should have us all a bit concerned. Overall I couldn't care less about owning a bump stock but imagine what will be next.

Many rememberd that Trump was a lifelong NY liberal who was once in favor of an assault weapon ban? I didn't want to say that in my last comment but that was really my point. When it came down to it, gun owners would rather vote for someone pretending to be on their side than vote for someone who they KNEW wasn't on their side. Those of us that did what you mentioned and voted 3rd party were treated like the village idiot. If Scott actually runs for a spot in Washington he will have plenty of gun owners lining up to support him as long as the alternative is perceived to be worse.

Fair enough. I think when push comes to shove most people are going to forget about this issue and vote for the party they are aligned with. Our memories tend to be pretty short. If it comes down to Scott vs someone "worse" then I don't see this law hurting him.

What exactly can they do to Scott? 2018 is his last year as Governor. Not saying you're wrong, I'm just not clear what they can do to him. I've seen it mentioned a few times now.

I actually laughed when I read this. Who is "they"? You're suggesting the GOP controlled congress would have passed a new AWB together with Hillary?

The great irony here is that if Hillary had been elected the GOP would have battled her on every move. Not out of principle, but out of spite. Saying "take the guns first and due process later" would have been the headline of every conservative news outlet. Instead we've identified the Elmer Fudd's of the gun community and watched as the GOP has essentially done nothing.

I have been assured for years that we must vote Republican so they protect the 2A. It will be interesting to see if Congress falls in line with Trump.
