  1. Failed to get out of committee in the house.   http://www.wbir.com/news/politics/senate-to-consider-makaylas-law-on-tuesday/83527981
  2. I just don't take my carry gun out of the holster if I have to disarm out in public. I don't understand the need or desire to carry an empty holster.
  3. I can't remember. Last time I was at that mall, the mall entrances were posted with gun busters but the big box stores were not. The restaurant is a separate building and I can't remember if it is posted. Probably will be now.
  4. All the time. I prefer to carry a full size duty weapon when possible, but that's dependent on a lot of factors as I always carry concealed in public.   My rotation consists of:   Glock 22 Glock 27 Sig Sauer P938 Ruger LCP (more or less relegated to a backup weapon these days).
  5. I've got an old LCP, its hammer fired with a DAO trigger. The hammer is surrounded by the back of the slide so it doesn't snag.   I've never seen a custom, so if they re-worked the internals and made it striker fired, that's news to me. May need to check one out if that is the case.   BTW, my old LCP warned against dry fire unless you used a snap cap as it could damage the firing pin. The custom might be different, but be careful dry firing it.
  6. Right, but they did get an increase (or at least a publicly perceived increase) of folks open carrying weapons which caused the "pearl clutchers" to freak out and start posting places. Depending on the final product for constitutional carry after it got through the legislative process (and assuming it actually passed), I'm afraid the same thing could happen here.
  7. I've been following the Texas open carry law change with some interest, and it seems at least on the surface, that more folks open carrying has lead to more businesses being posted.   http://www.texaschlforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=82553   You can peruse some of the other threads, but the general gist is that businesses and the anti-gun folks have used open carry as an excuse to get businesses to post "no gun" signs that carry legal weight.   I'm all for constitutional carry, but I'm afraid that the same thing will happen here if we don't have the sign issue addressed first.
  8. Out of my OEM Glock mags, I've only had one that was problematic. It was an older LEO marked magazine (15 round .40 S&W) that would cause FTF issues every other round or so after I'd shoot half the mag. Replaced the spring with a Wolff replacement and it works fine now.   I've got several of the 22 round extended magazines, and they don't run in my Glock 27. Otherwise, no real issues with them.
  9. I have a Galco Miami Classic 2 for my Glock 22 / 27 that is my standard rig when its colder out (I usually use a hoodie or a vest as a cover garment).   Its my preferred way to carry, and I find it very comfortable.
  10. I've got a set of the double ones from Gander Mtn., and they will work with my Ruger Mark III. Good space saving option.
  11. https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/virginia-politics/mcauliffe-to-restore-handgun-reciprocity-in-deal-with-republicans/2016/01/28/6f8c0240-c5d8-11e5-9693-933a4d31bcc8_story.html   http://www.pagunblog.com/2016/01/28/terry-mcauliffe-backtracks-on-reciprocity/   Sounds like reciprocity is back on the table.
  12. 27/30 here.
  13. I also carry a Sig 938 in my front pocket. I use a Desantis Superfly, never snagged nor had the safety come off unexpectedly. On the 938, the safety is very positive and requires some force to disengage. It isn't going to come off on its own.   I've also carried the LCP in an identical configuration, and the 938 has pretty much replaced it unless I need the smaller gun. Why? Caliber and accuracy.   I'm not going to start a caliber war (I still carry .380 when needed) but I'd rather carry a bigger round if I can.   The 938 is also incredibly accurate for what it is. Between the sights and the single action trigger, it shoots more like a full size handgun than a pocket gun. i can shoot just as well as I can my full size Glocks and 1911s. With the LCP, I'm "man accurate," but its really a bad breath distance kind of gun (at least for me).   But yeah, if you aren't comfortable with single action, there a ton of good pocket guns out there these days.
  14.   That was kind of the way it was a few years ago before they made the change allowing the gunbuster. Places were still posted improperly, and you were still at risk for being charged and pleading your case (and paying attorney's fees) if you caught an LEO on a bad day.   The signs need to have no legal weight. If a private property owner doesn't want guns on his premises, he could still use trespassing laws to get a carrier to leave.
  15. IMO signs should have no teeth legally. If someone carries past a sign and doesn't leave when asked, trespassing laws would apply.
  16. Glocks are pretty ugly as well, but they work.   I don't see a reason to switch from my Glocks personally, but I've always good luck with my Rugers - hope they do well in the market place.
  17. They should have screamed "Allahu Akbar!" as they entered. Got to support the first amendment too, right? :screwy:
  18.   Dangerous and irresponsible people follow the rules?   :shake: :shake: :shake:
  19.   I like the way you think.
  20. So they are limiting conceal carry reciprocity while they are still an open carry without a permit state? That's just silly.   I guess the next time work takes me up there I'll just air out my Glock rather than conceal something.
  21. Buyback? They never owned them in the first place.
  22. The staff there sucks. I was standing at the counter trying to get an employee to ring me up a Maverick 88. As I'm waiting, I watch him pull a Glock out from the cabinet (for another customer), aim it squarely at his own chest while he racked the slide then pulled the trigger. I asked him about why he was using such a peculiar and unsafe manner to clear a gun and he responded "the manager doesn't want us to aim at the floor in case its loaded and ricochets."  :squint:  I pointed out to him that getting shot in the chest was a far nastier outcome (and he shouldn't be pulling the trigger anyway just to show the weapon was clear).   Took over an hour to get them to run the background check and make it the register. When I finally made it to the register, they refused to sell me a box of shells at the same time as the gun citing "safety concerns."
  23. My house got broken into a few years ago and the crooks made off with several of my firearms. After I got the insurance money (and a safe), I went to the LGS to obtain some replacements. As I walked out of the store with two Glocks, an AR15, an AK, and a 12 gauge shotgun I remember thinking "man, I hope someone doesn't think I'm about to go postal and SWAT me."
  24.   He was going to be my tactical "decoy" if SHTF.
  25.   You say that, but one time was at dinner and this guy walks in wearing 5.11 pants, 5.11 shooters vest, and an NRA ball cap while OCing a full size Glock, two reloads, flashlight and OC spray. No one even noticed him but me.
