I don't have the link but they have mentioned that they would consider not building the SUV here if...

You should only use small pistol primers. Do not use anything else. If you find small magnum primers let me know I need to load up some380, 9mm, and .40. Seriously, even with a chronograph I doubt you will tell a difference between the different primers. Supposedly rifle primers are harder so the worse that may happen is some weak strikes.

Knoxville Police Looking at New Pistols

The reason for the 4 year replacement has to do with CALEA. I know for a fact Glocks can only be 4years old under the rule. Being certified is a huge deal for departments. It means a lot for the careers of every officer and city. It also means they get a huge insurance savings. Someone brought up a good point that maybe Sigs have a life span of 10yrs. This may mean that CALEA recognizes Sigs Good for 10yrs also. http://www.calea.org/ -

Don't get me wrong. The Sig 220 is a great gun and one day I hope to own one. They shoot great, better than other Sigs and definetly better than any 1911 I have ever shot. This was cheaper than giving a raise, cheaper than hiring new officers because they are board and have nothing to look forward to. I guarantee you all the gripes about "crap" within the department and city have been silenced for a while. I bet most of the guys on here have been through half a dozen carry guns in the last 4 years. Do I agree with their choice? No, because I think the G22 is a better police duty weapon as long as the officer has trigger discipline. Higher capacity along with the .40s&w slightly better penetration of body armor add to the economical value of Glocks and 40 ammo. -
I have fiddled with one before and the biggest complaint is there isn't a travel stop, meaning it's anywhere between full up or full down. There is no click or bump to hold I in place.

Most agencies are going DAK nowadays if for no other reason to get a lighter first pull(Secret Service). If it is a expense to taxpayers, it is a small expense to improve morale in the department because I can guarantee they are excited about it. I bet it may cost almost nothing with police trade-ins snd confiscated firearm tradeins. The grants for firearm upgrades are out there but I understand that comes as a tax funding. -
LEO are really supposed to carry only in schools while on official buisness. You just reminded me of why I prefer a Kholster over a Supertuck. The crosses really draw attention.

No doubt about it, the Sig 220 is a mighty fine firearm. -
I am still waiting on a order from before Christmas.

You don't, it's all about having nice new stuff and bragging that you are a CALEA agency. -

I was told that the last time the Catoosa County Sheriffs Department(GA) switched from Gen3 to Gen4 Glocks it cost them $79 a piece. I don't know what these agencies have paid to trade their Glocks for Sigs. Edit: I just now remembered that one agency received grant money to upgrade to the Sigs. -

Police Departments are no different than any other large buisness. They often make choices and purchases that are less ideal. I don't think this is a bad purchase but I do feel a 45acp has some flaws. Low capacity and poor performance against body armor are two of the biggest. The 1911 that someone saw most likely was a SWAT guy. Other than the CALEA consideration departments get new guns because they get great tradein deals. -
They wouldn't be able to compete with the US government selling firearms.

Even more ironic that Volkswagon chose a old WWII ammunitions plant for their operation.

Even though the Sig 220 has been around for ages, it is becoming adopted more than any other handgun by departments. East Ridge PD and Chattanooga PD have had their Sig 220's for about 2 years now and they love them. Really KPD is breaking away from the heard because most everyone by them uses G22 including KCSO. -

Someone may have already mentioned it but there is this thing called a CALEA Certification that it and $99 gets a sweet tea at McD's. Anyway to be a CALEA certified agency your hsndguns must not be more than 4 years old. Long guns can be older. Really the whole thing is quirky, but it kind of brings up morale in the department, makes everything look great, and the probably justifies more pay for the brass. -
There was one on gun owners club last night that read; "used, but like new in box but it doesn't have a box".

I'm not trying to get you fired up but you are the type guy they don't want to sell a car to. Like I stated there is more money for them to make financing a car then selling you a car 90% of the time. The reason dealerships charge a doc fee is because a long time ago some jackass decided to sell cars cheaper and make up the difference with a doc fee. So everyone else decided to sell cars cheaper to compete and added the doc fee. Ask when you go into a dealership what the doc fee is and just keep that in your mind when negotiating. I don't care how much the doc fee is. All that matters to me is the trade difference.

Multiple People Shot at Houston College
Patton replied to Oh Shoot's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Someone has already mentioned it but with what I know about colleges nowadays I bet this will be gang or related to a revenge incident. -
I have spoken to someone, a life long family friend in management, that stated the distribution warehouse's are about empty so store orders are not being taken. Eventually ammo at Walmart will be back to normal.

That actually sounds a little high but it may be market price now. Yes, it is a 2nd gen and will accept the larger magazines from 59 series.

I have experienced your pain way too many times myself. It never gets any easier and you never forget them. Most of mine have been Labs also, their memory really sticks with you. The best thing is to get another one tomorrow.

Also .17 hmr, 22-250, and as far as pistol the .40's haven't been too hard to find.
