  1. IWB is not for everyone, I have tried several tuckable IWB holsters to determine I just can't do it. I prefer high and close to the body OWB carry. You have to have a good thick belt. I don't find a Glock 19 much different than a Glock 26 when your talking IWB/OWB, I generally only carry a baby Glock in the pocket and a lot of others carry on the ankle.
  2. I don't remember, I don't think it does. If it does not you may not be able to find out.
  3. If you are not satisfied by what you get that way, the DMV will give out some info. I believe you have to state the reason you need the information though. In fact I believe it can be done online.
  4. http://www.tbi.state.tn.us/background_checks/toris_faqs.shtml $29 and it will be pretty detailed. Or, For about $200 a private investigator will get more than you care to know (trust me).
  5. Well 40 and 45 really hasn't been too hard to get around here. I have given up on 9mm, I found some a couple of weeks ago and that was the first since December.
  6. There are some weird stuff on there also. Why do they have M249 Drums.
  7. I have the same soft spot for 92. After a few hundred rounds through a Glock I found out I shot them as good or better. To me the 92's are big and boring, but reliable. I shot some M11's, in my days but actually preferred the M-9's.
  8. The 200gr is the true winner of the 45acp, even the 230 gr Gold Dots have been known to not expand. I have seen someone die from one 22lr to the brain and the next week someone accidentally shot there self with a 44mag and live, one round to the shoulder and he didn't even go into shock. Shot placement is what I keep in mind and anything worth shooting once is worth shooting twice.
  9. Correct, I shipped some last month, about $20 to ship 200 rounds of 9mm. To simplify, no, I did not have to pay hazmat fees.
  10. It took 23 replies for someone to mention going with another caliber. You do get a lot more options when looking for a 9 or 40.
  11. Prayers from down here.
  12. I have said this same thing about some different brands of handguns over the years. Someone told me the reason I have this problem is because I am not focusing on my front sight. I hate to say it but they were right.
  13. Just to make you feel better, most every 9mm factory load is hotter than its 38 spl cousin of the same make. That taken into account, 9mm's in small packages can be a handful. It kind of comes down to higher pressures in the same gun creates more felt recoil. I can tell you 9mm in a revolver feels closer to 357 than a 38 all being shot in the same revolver. I said all of that to say this, I often carry a 5 shot revolver for comfort. Even though I have had very few troubles with pocket autos, revolvers tend to be more reliable in less than perfect grips and environments. No doubt a micro 9mm has more power and capacity, it is also harder for me to shoot. I have had formal revolver training and I can reload quickly. (I went through the only police academy around still teaching revolvers) I only carry one reload though. Tuckable holsters were a great idea but they just don't work on me, I am not fooling anyone. It makes me look like I am 20lbs heavier. If I am dressed up I will have a small pistol in my pocket. I have a Kangaroo holster which works pretty good, I'd just rip the shirt open to get it out.
  14. 60% of the time, it works everytime.
  15. That was $800 Minimuim every 90k miles. It uses a few more plugs, a little more oil. I noticed a pattern everytime I went to get a part for a V6 Accord. I would look up a part for the same I4 and then the V6, almost everytime the v6 part was 10% more. The radiator is bigger, the rotors, and pretty much everything mechanical on the car is bigger and more expensive. The alternator for a 1998 v6 ex coupe was almost 25% more $183 vs $227 and harder to get. http://www.bkhondaparts.com/parts-catalog/honda/accord/1998/2dr-ex-v6/ka4at/engine/alternator-delphi-v6 http://www.bkhondaparts.com/parts-catalog/honda/accord/1998/2dr-ex/ka4at/engine/alternator-denso
  16. Too big for most people wanting a sub compact or a compact. In fact I know some guys with H&K45 c's as duty weapons, I couldn't believe it when they told me they had the compact versions. They just seem huge, bigger than a Glock 30.
  17. I never thought I would say this after being a former car salesman and at one time a mechanic, I would buy a Kia if the price were right. I have seen more than one that should have died within a week of torture continue for years of torture. On the Accords, stick with a 4cyl for reasons other than MPG's. The maintenance is a lot less on the 4's and they are better engines.
  18. I haven't been to Kaceys in a while but it is a bargain, Jenkins cost a little bit more but has better food. Jenkins is up there with some of the best fried chicken also, it may be as good as Champys.
  19. Everyone is mentioning Honda Civics, I have enough faith in them that there are two in my driveway. However they are not as perfect as you will think. We replaced an automatic transmission in our 01 a few years ago at 100k. My MIL had to have a new engine in a 07 at about 160k and for a whole it kept blowing the main fuse for the entire car.
  20. I wouldn't pass up a deal on a Nissan if I found one. I can think of about a dozen mechanics in my life that drove Nissans even though they worked at a Honda or Toyota service shop.
  21. I have been to Champys and it's ok. There used to be a place on Cherry called George's Chicken, it was the best. Truthfully, some of the best chicken I have had in the last 10 years has come from Golden Corral. Some of the best dining in Chattanooga is: 1: Zarzours 2: Eretha Frankensteins 3: Nickis And in that order. I'll give honorable mentions to Na Go Ya, Bee's, and Aunt Effie's.
  22. I will say that a compact XDM 45 which uses XD45 mags is could be useful. I have only held a XDM compact and it is still more of a fullsize in statureand is not a pocket gun. You mentioned recoil, the XDS is very mild, the Kahr is not. For the most part guns in 45acp are fairly mild. My Kahr CW45 was brutal in recoil, more than a j frame 357 mag.
  23. They are an improvement. My best friend since 7th grade has loaned me his G36 several times. Truthfully I do like the G36 more than most every other 45 made, Sig 220's are nice though. The G36 reminds me more of 9/40/357 Glocks which I have 10k rounds of familiarity with over the years. I have followed one of the threads on Glocktalk where a guy has chopped a G36 mag down to a flush fit 5rd mag. I don't know why Glock didn't make the G36 like other baby Glocks with a two finger grip instead of the pinch master plate.
  24. I have given up on finding a smallish .45 I will like, I have a major complaint on all of them. Sig P250's are just too thick, Kahrs are too rough with sharp edges feel cheap. Glock 36's are nice but I hate the grip/magazine design. I don't have a lot of trust in micro 1911's nor do I have a interest in a grip safety. I was excited about the XDS when they came out. My long time shooting friend payed a deposit on one. I actually shot it before he did. Other than shooting continuously low it was perfect for about 100 rounds. It has recently started having weak primer strikes. Out of the last 50 rounds it has had probably 10 weak primer strikes, all factory ammo. He is keeping the gun but says he will wait before sending it back so maybe if it is a common problem they will have addressed the issues.
  25. I am glad you mentioned what you had. The earlier supercrews couldn't use some low profile boxes because they hit the wheel wells. I am not sure about 05+ because I think I have seen some with low profile boxes.
