All are reasonable facts, I am intrigued by the effectiveness of plain old ball 45acp.
-
I have owned, or borrowed for an extended period, about every 45acp in production. I finally found one that I shoot well, could carry well, but I can't get away from the fact that it is a 45acp. For years I have stated that every 45acp had too thick of a grip, too low of a capacity, or cost too much. The XDS is none of these, but the fact that it is a 45acp is killing me. In all fairness the fact that I do not reload 45acp is one reason I am having a hard time justifying owning one. I decided to go buy a box of 45acp since I shot all the old ammo I had laying around, at $25 a box I decided not to buy. Is anyone else not a fan of these fat, slow bullets that cost a lot?

Also, all the pain and no gain. Other than a true S&W aficionado most that own one would agree that the Ruger sp101 is better in the mag than the j frame Smiths. A k frame is a little different story, but believe it or not the j frame is stronger in some areas by design, both are weak in the forcing cone. The K frame will handle recoil better but you still don't get enough barrel to utilize the load. The L frames are even a little better all around. Stick with heavier bullets in all. I would love to have a old FBI S&W 13 in 3". I have not shot one but the 327mag makes for a great round in a smaller revolver than a 357 mag. It's closer to 357 mag energy with milder recoil.

KellyII, when were you a Watchdog(in the 8th)?

I have worn several but this one is probably the closest to my heart.

I did a lot of running around today, ammo is in full availability except for rim fire ammo. I did see some .17 today somewhere. More service caliber ammo than you could ever want.

I don't know that 40 will ever be that hard to come by, since it was on shelves everyday following Sandy Hook I think it can survive about anything.

I think all of those Rugers feel great, the SR45 is thin for a double stacked 45. I have no clue why Glock thought they had to make G21 slides so fat and heavy. On the Rugers though, I just cringe at all the little movable pieces inside. I took a SR9 apart at the shop when they came out and we got it stuck trying to put it back together.

There was a time that I thought I shot a 40 better than 9, specifically Glocks. I think when it comes down to it they are the same. I can't even feel the extra recoil (snap)40's are known to have.
-
No, the gun will be the same unless it is a tactical model. On some models the color of the label only species the amount of mags or their capacity. Blues have always had 3*, White will have 10rd mags or less, and red will be standard capacity. *blue label Gen3 subcompacts have 2

Since it was LA and a TSA agent(s), I wouldn't be surprised if it was gang related based on some of the TSA agents I have known.

While I believe those velocities are correct that is a little fast for your average 38 and a little slow for your average 9mm. I for one think they will still be very close to equal still, even with a 50-100fps drop from a 4" to 3" barrel. I will say after shooting 38spl and 9mm through the same revolver once in my life the 9mm feels more powerful. Both loads were comparable target loads.

For a long time Taurus revolvers were actually well built. I have read a few complaints on the quality over the last couple of years. My FIL has a Judge that has the occasional light primer strikes, seems to be getting more common now. I still would try one but not without testing.

I have had several of the IWB tuck able types. I found the Kholster the cream of the crop, more comfortable with better clips. They all grew old and I gained weight to fill those pants I bought larger to accommodate IWB, seriously.
-
I would be more concearned with the .357 performance in a snub nosed revolver. The velocity isn't too much over a 38 with a lot more punch. If it is cheap enough then why not.

Sometime back I had the same type of BS fed to me, I almost bought into it. It wasn't a week later I was at my mother's house when the same guys didn't recognize me and told me a completely different story. The, "I was born in Africa and came to America at age 6" must not have been working so they were saying they were "recovering crack addicts". I actually believed the later to be true. You will never get the magazines.

The only ammo FAMs have shot in the last 10plus years is the Speer Lawman and Speer Gold Dots as seen in the photos.

It happens all the time. I know where their is about 100k rounds of ammo in a locked trailer. Yes, Fed's ammo.

As long as you can handle the weight their isn't anything to be concerned with. I had a lot of friends that carried them as duty weapons at Chattanooga, the weight was the only concern.

" He had acquired the gun from a friends gun shop who had passed away suddenly and this was found in the shop in a brown paper bag." My grandfather had a gun just like that one, this one may be it. My cousins took it when he died (2005) and sold it. Colt made some none working guns that looked just like the real thing but had a plugged barrel and a non working firing pin. The entire upper could be replaced making it a working firearm and that is what he did. My great uncle stole it from the Army, it wasn't as accountable as working firearms and gave it to my grandfather. He said the guns were used for training and sometimes ceremonies. I once found an article on them, I'll see if I can find it again. Never mind, yours actually has a colt slide. The "US Government would have been stamped on the frame. Makes me think the frame may actually be from a different gun but with Colt grips. I have to question why it is in a paper bag, if it were. Makes me wonder if he knew it was hot and this was a throw down gun. A lot of scenarios, someone may have dropped it off to have work done. And those are the same grips his had. Do me a favor and post a picture of the thumb safety, his had a different thumb safety from all the other ones I have ever seen in my life.

The 940 doesn't require them either, it's just hard to eject spent cartridges without moon clips.

The ruger sp101 is between a j frame and a k frame. A holster for an LCR should fit about the same except for barrel length. The trigger guard is about the biggest part compared to a j frame.

Shields are hard to beat, even the 40 Shield seamed easier to shoot than my LCP.
-
Other than the G36 I find the 45/10 Glocks feel a lot different than the others. I actually like the feel of a Sig220 over a G21 and I am a huge Glock 9/40 fan.

Anyone know who gives the most for old cars in Chattanooga/Trenton area? It's a 87 Caprice( no engine) if it matters. My stepfather has one he needs to take somewhere.
