  1. I am just curious where our older members were 50 years ago. My parents were toddlers, my grandparents were all I believe at work. One of my grandfathers was on a business trip to Texas that week.
  2. Hauli, there used to be a gun shop, Security Professionals, or something similar on Oahu that was great. I regretfully passed on some police turn in S&W 38's 10 years ago for $200. It just seamed like to much trouble to buy in HI.
  3. The mag disconnect is very easily removed. However, all those little levers and extra moving parts that Glock does not use is a deal breaker for me. I took a SR9 apart in a gunshop and got the slide stuck, along with the gunshop employee. It ruins my fast for forever. I do wish the LC9 would have just been an enlarged version of the LCP without safety crap.
  4. If Glock made a polymer derringer along the lines of the Double Tap for a reasonable price I would own one. A 2 shot derringer the size of a LCP, D/A, firing 9,38,40, or 45 would be one of the most popular BUGs made, but I am not paying the $600 for the Double Tap.
  5. It doesn't really add any collector interest to me. Something to think about though, every serial prefix will start with 000 or 001 but may not go all the way to 999 I was told.
  6. I believe your statement pretty much explains the answer. As long as Glock is behind hundreds of thousands of units, no matter how good of a concept there is no need to produce it. Why spend the money on R&D when you can make more money just catching up on production of already spoken for items? The reason the Shield and the XDS come out was because Springfield and S&W had hit a sales slump. Glock has done well selling what they make. I still believe the G41 and G42 pitch is bogus. However if they use existing frames I could see the tactical 45 and double stack .380 happening.
  7. Yes, there are always three sides, your side, their side, and the truth.
  8. Tropic Lightning! I never heard someone say after a firefight, "I sure wish I didn't have a 203."
  9. I like how they list the weight of the 41 as 15lbs. Ironic since I have always refered to the 21 as the Glock boat anchor, it's rediculous fat with a heavy slide.
  10. Yeah, I have been following the thread for the last month or do on GT. A tactical version of the 21? The 21 is not a good seller, in fact it is not even one of the best selling 45's. And the 380 made no sense since they already make the 25,28. I suspect they will make it on a 17/22 for import reasons, again doesn't make a lot of sense. Leave it to Glock!

    Glock 19C

Yes, the dual recoil spring is a little softer shooting. Go for the 19C since it is what is for sale. I don think you will be unhappy, I also think the muzzle flash blindness is over played. The general opinion among compensated owners is that the C models are awesome, all around. They report no night sight blindness from shooting, supposedly the shooter never notices. Also the front sight post is supposed to stay clean.
  12. Love it! Thank you, both!   Will they be able to tell me if it is Aluminum or Carbon Steel? Yes, a magnet would also tell you. I will almost guarantee you that you have a steel cylinder.
  13. And let Us know, we will make a note to not spend money there.
  14. Put it this way, the model 38 was never designed to be a shooter. A few came with Aluminum cylinders which is bad, most will have a carbon steel cylinder which is a lot stronger. With that said, today's +p 38 ammo is about what was a standard load 30-40 years ago. I don't think you will ever be able to shoot enough +p through it to wear it out.
  15. True for load, caliber, and handgun. I had a defense attorney tell me he stands a great defense if he can tell a jury his client protects his family with the exact same handgun and ammo the police use to protect them.
  16. Funny because I hate Obama more than just about anyone on earth but would would rather have Alan West as President if given the choice of everyone in the world, and Alan West is blacker than O.
  17. I had the 40 and I would have kept it but had the itch for another j frame. I also wished it would have been the 9 for lack of having a 9 at the time. The shield carries like a small pistol, but shoots like a full size. The XDS carries like a small pistol and shoots like a small pistol.

  19. No reason not to, it's just there is a lot more small 9's on the market I think I may like better. Mainly a Shield or a G26 that have cheaper mags and a lot more holsters.
  20. JAB, nice post.
  21. It just isn't the looks of the TJ's that are hotter, the are a lot better of a vehicle all around. However almost all the weak links of the YJ have been upgraded on this vehicle. I did have a built YJ many years ago that I would do anything to have back, much like this one it was a project gone wild with money.
  22. JMB thought the Browning Hi Power was his best gun ever and he didn't even finish it. I can't find the quote but JMB even stated the military ruined the 1911 by requiring the grip safety.
  23. They either slice through or stop them like a tennis net stops a tennis ball. We shot some old vest, probably shot each one 17 rounds or more, I don't think we recovered a single bullet. None of them(9mm fmj) penetrated and ironically couldn't shatter a window placed behind the panels. A 12ga with buckshot at 10yards destroyed the vest.
  24. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ixnTDXg9eLs FFW to 14:50 In all fairness the 40 is no better, 357 mag has a slight hand over the 45 though. Read this article, particularly the paragraphs listed below. http://m.policemag.com/article/1397/30-things-you-need-to-know-about-body-armor 4 All Guns Are Deadly 14 What is a Trauma Rating? 15 If You Are Shot in Your Armor, You Will be Able to Fight Back
  25. Actually, velocity is your friend and not mass when trying to penetrate body armor. Jesse Mathews, a Chattanooga cop killer, told police after his capture that he couldn't feel the 45acp's bouncing off his body armor on April 2nd. The other service calibers would not have made a difference most likely. A .223 literally shot his genitals off.
