  1. Is that the number on the crane or the butt?
  2. The first homicide I ever went to was a 22lr to the head, a week later I went to an accidental shooting with 44mag. The guy was able to tell me exactly how it happened and was as calm as could be, half his shoulder was missing.
  3. Before I got big into handguns I was in a Sig course while in the Army, I told the instructor some guns pointed more naturally for me than others. His response as to why I had that issue: I was not focusing on my front sight post.
  4. Northern Hamilton County will have damage visible come day light. About 30 minutes ago seemed to be the worst of it.
  5. Old timers that come around or are still at my department talk about having a 50yard qual with a 4" model 15. If we did 50yard quals we would have 10% of our existing workforce. Those are not the first 9mm is taking over the world propaganda adds I have scene lately. TDPS went to 9mm from 357sig but it was also a completely different platform change. NCHP went to a 9mm only because of 357 sig problems in the M&P, they pretty much did an even swap because of the bad publicity S&W was getting. Indiana State Police just dumped their Glock 17's after many years to get the new Sigs in 45. There was at least one department listed in the 2014 Glock Annual that just went to G22 from 9mm. I have seen a few departments in TN switch to 45 or 357Sig from 40 in the last year but the two newest agencies in TN to get armed up have chosen Glocks in 40s&w.
  6. You like the Nano but you don't like Glocks? The Nano is awfully Glock like.
  7. I thought it was going to be an automobile fire, like a slow-mo of the pace car fire.
  8. We had a guy in a Chattanooga suburb die from a copperhead bite in Bout 2011. It was his second bite in a 3 year time frame though.
  9. Thanks, I'll keep in mind.
  10. I was wondering if any members wanted to take a limb off my house and possible take down the entire tree. Nothing really tricky about it, it is close to the house but plenty of room to drop it with a rope. The tree is a ~70' Hackberry partially covered in English Ivy. If you are in the business but far away, what is the going hourly rate for tree work?
  11. The Xds is not bad, I had one in 45acp. The ergonomics of the XDS is every bit as good as te Shield. Recoil was to be expected, I hear the 9mm feels the same as the 45 for the most part. I got rid of it to go back to a Shield which recoils so much less.
  12. I have only owned and shot the Shields in 9 and 40. The Shields really are great shooters that carry very well. The Nano is a little smaller if memory serves me correct. The Nano does not have a slide stop lever, really only an issue when clearing class three malfunctions. The Shield does have the manual safety which some dislike. It appears to me as if the Shields get slightly better reviews than the Nanos.
  13. Those articles mean nothing to me. It's a cycle within a cycle, 9mm to 40 to 45 and then back to 9mm. Witchita Police Department just switched back to 40 after a 5 year stint with 9mms. Can you guess what they will be carrying in 5 years? Have you seen my post that is a sticky at the top of the Handguns section? There are only two agencies with 9mm in the state out of about the 250 agencies we have confirmed. In Georgia I do not know of a single agency exclusively using 9mm, but supposedly GSP is dumping the Glock 37 this spring in favor of Glocks in 9mm or 40. Other surrounding states I believe are about the same, no love for the 9mm. I have even noticed some of Federal Government agencies have dumped 9mm lately, DOD Police, Coast Guard, NCIS, and VA police have all went to 40 in the last few years.
  14. There has been hours of rain on top of the melting snow in Chattanooga, with more rain and temperatures under 30 degrees Saturday morning making for slick roads.
  15. A good 3" in northern Hamilton County.
  16. No doubt, this will be a tremendous murder investigation.
  17. Did the Sig 210 do anything the Browning High Power couldn't do for less?
  18. Seriously, he made a very good living off of someone else's dime. His age is irrelelavant because someone somewhere is feeling the affects of his work or lack off years later. They may have delayed till now to not look suspicious or because they finally have felt the effects.
  19. Those Uncle Mike's Banana Grips are the best for J frames.
  20. Let me introduce you to my aunt whos attorney could have saved her home. Long story short, she is homeless and widowed because of bad advise from an attorney, who sat on his hands and waited too long.
  21. 649 No Dash 2in .38 Spl -1 2in .38 Spl. -2 2in .38 Spl. -3 2.25 357 Mag -4. 2in .38 Spl -5. 2.25in 357 Mag -6. 2in .38 Spl
  22. Is the 649 the 20oz version with the 1 7/8" barrel?
  23. I don't know why he stopped with the appeals, I do know he spent upwards of $10k fighting his case. He had in my opinion one of the best attorneys in TN. Truthfully, I am as confused as any on why THP is allowed to ask for a DL and obviously others are not. The only trooper I ever asked about it gave me an answer I am discounting as being incorrect. An attorney that specializes in traffic cases that I know well says it is a blue law that if ever challenged will most likely fall. According to the attorney, even though Appendix ( c ) was last modified in 1997, the law makers believed that THP was the issuing authority for driving privileges in TN, that is why they were given the statute to request.
  24. We are getting further off topic but there is case law on Tennessee Highway Patrol's Drivers License Checkpoints. The claimant was a friend of my family, Larry Allen Hicks, he was arrested at a DL checkpoint in Chattanooga about 15 years ago with a small amount of drugs. Long story short he won an appeal in local appellate court but the decision was reversed by the State Supreme Court, Jerry Summers represented Hicks and encouraged him to not take it any further. In TCA 40-7-103 ( c )it gives THP the right to conduct Drivers License Checkpoints but in Hicks' case it was a Chattanooga officer making the arrest, their case was hinging on the Chattanooga officer making an unlawful arrest and not TCA 40-7-103 ( c ) , which was pretty cut and dry.
  25. The same deal or very close to it can be found local sometimes. I know there were some at GT Dist that would be about $350 OTD w/2or 3 mags. There was even some G37s at that price.
